IIRC Kinzo didn't even request him wearing a dress, it was Genji who did it after helping Yasu solve the riddle. The issue with Yasu is they were androgenous as fuck, and Kinzo was already shown to be been incetuous even before he went totally batshit, so I can kinda see it being an issue given they raised Yasu as female due to them thinking he would never be a normal boy due to the rock incident. But it's still too progressive for an old fashioned Japanese family in the 80s, I mea they didn't even understand Maria (who I think was legit autistic) but they support trans stuff?

Did you atleast enjoy episode 5 and 6? Personally I loved how Erika was the detective, and yet you don't really feel like cheering her on, she's not a nice person, etc. I also loved how she did exactly what people wanted by playing more aggressively than Battler, actually solving things and making people uncomfortabe, the logic error and the wedding were great imo. I think episode 7 revealed too much so it's clear what happened, and ep 8 ruind Ange's arc imo. Overall I still love umineko given it's so unique, the mystery, the occult/supernatrural elements, the style of some parts (ep 2 ending where Kinzo being eaten by goats has such a decadent description was great) and the music was fantastic, Umineko is very unique. But I do love it despite all the trans stuff that admittedly gets in the way. Not much can be done about it now, and atleast with the Sh/Kannon stuff it does have foreshadowing from episode 1, I just think the story may have been different if BT hadn't died, no doubt that effected RO7's writing, even if it's just the bias towards the magic/denail ending. Also the atmosphere in episode 1 was fantastic, very tense and it had strong horror elements imo, it really sucked to find out the entire thing was just Kyrie and Rudolf killing everyone and the best parts are fanfiction.

I haven't really looked at it given it's not the sci fi I expected, when it was announced it would be sci fi I expected some space stuff but this looks more like some kind of mecha anime, only the mech is just on a persons arm. I'm not sure I could enjoy it if it deviates too far, I know Higurashi and Umineko are unorthodox, but this doens't seem like much of a mystery story, more some conspiritorial thing.

I'm surprised by how many people who actually like it, at least in the youtube reactor crowd and weirdly enough tiktok.

Redo of Healer is so edgy and pornographic it loops back into being good for not being your typical 'subversive' isekai garbage by actually going the extra mile in showing how fucked everything and everyone is. It's trash, undeniably, but it is so much more entertaining than REEEEE Loser and Hero of Simping. False rape accusation and murder? Don't make me laugh, you're doing the bare minimum to be lauded as gritty.

Mushoten is attracting all of the salt that Redo of Healer should be getting. I think it's because Redo of Healer is expected to be edgy revenge porn while Mushoten is apparently awful because someone 'resentful' was given a second chance at life and people like that should just stay down. Most of the people complaining about it are troons, w*men and snoyim, though, so you can just ignore them and enjoy the high-budget sakuga every week.

I did enjoy 5 and 6 and I did like the Erika parts. I just don't think he could keep up certain aspects of the series without BT. I've not looked at his new one yet. I've thought about it, but it's a lot of time to invest.

Yasu was raised as a girl because his junk was torn off when Natsuhi pushed him and the servant off the cliff. Nothing to do with #TransRights. That said, John Money would've been proud.
Just more proof of what awesome people the Ushiromiyas were.
Granted, some of the whole Yasu thing is kinda iffy. Like, how did nobody figure out Shannon and Kannon are one person?

Nice uncovered spoilers. Also teh Ushiromiya weren't all bad, Eva put in more effort than she needed too, and Jessica is the 2nd best girl in the series, right after Erika. Godha was the most worthless character in the series and I have no idea why he even exists.

How much did BT contribute? I thought he was just a close firend, or maybe R07 is gay who knows, I actually know little about the staff outside of it's family run and R07 may have previously worked with social services.
 
I kinda think we should have a Ryushiki07 megathread since there's a lot of things to talk about (especially when the second installment of the new series finally arrives and we'll know what is the actual plot).
I kinda like the things he's done after Umineko. Rose Gun Days was an interesting alternate universe take on post war Japan that didn't go too much on sucking on "glorious nippon cock", and the one about youkai in school made me realize that school really has an aspect of teaching kids about social life.

Seriously, idk why he's there either. I've heard there was supposed to have been some plotline about him and Natsuhi screwing around that never made it in. We don't even get the story about his affairs at the hotel he'd been working at until the manga.

Edit: That weirdo Erikatrice guy seems to have it in his head that Gohda is a serial rapist and raped Jessica.

As for this response, I disagree with your reasoning behind shakanontrice. I don't think it was about "muh transrights" and more a symbol of the real truth behind Yasu/Lion's gender being inside the catbox. It was never directly confirmed if Yasu/Lion was a boy or a girl in the VN either and it was clear that it was the intended answer from Episode 1 of the VN and with all of the themes that the story lays down on you.

I have read Ciconia as well, put my thoughts in the VNs thread. It is interesting so far, but the first phase is a bunch of setup and worldbuilding, which is necesscary since it's introducing the readers to a new world entirely. I think R07 did say it would be a mystery, but the general mystery would take a backseat to the sci-fi elements. There are some crazy theories already out there, but all most people can do is wait for R07 to stop milking Higurashi and make Phase 2 already.

I've started reading some of Higanbana a little bit ago and it's much more grounded and downer-y than the rest of WTC. I also like some of the music of RGD and I'm looking forward to reading it just for that aspect.


As for something non R07 related, I've been reading Dungeon Meshi and holy shit this is the best cooking manga I have read. It's a great comedy manga with a lot of worldbuilding that actually leads to something worthwhile. I highly recommend it.

I wish R07 took more time instead of writing Umineko in the span of a year. I don't get why he was rushing so much.

But Natsuhi talks about a man from 19 year ago, Lion is introduced as kinzo's grandson, etc. It's obvious Yasu = male. Also the manga shat up the message of the story by making everything so blatant, atleast confine it to the trick ending.

Personally I don't think it's a trans thing. I don't care for troons to put it mildly, but I think Beato was a great character and a fun example of a witch.
1) Witches are associated with magic and illusion, the illusion is the Beatrice doesn't exit. This makes for a great character as Beato wants to be loved, but can't let anyone close otherwise they discover their identity and the illusion dies. It's a really nice way to handle illlusions/magic and people putting on faces pretending to be someone they arent, then wondering why they are so lonely.
2) Shannon was miserable, Kannon was too. Both passed as male/female, and yet they still weren't happy. I think it was less about how others saw them as women/men, and more to do with them knowing they were sterile eunuchs who cna't have lovers or children.
3) Lion was fine, which kinda shows it was largely due to the mutilated dick. Even if Lion is gay the not having kids may not be a thing, but romance was still an option.

I think reducing it to gender dysphoria kinda gives the wrong impression it misses out on the putting up walls, sense of lonliness and being somewhat unable to accept the reality of your situation.

It might've been related to his friend dying, grieving, and then going "oh shit I have to figure this out without my mystery lover friend"

Damn, this is why I hate the manga. Well you would have to forgive me for not reading the manga as well. In the VN, Lion explicitly never said his gender and was never introduced as Kinzo's grandson. My reasoning for the "man from 19 years ago" after finding out ShKanontrice was the fact that in that fragment, Yasu ended up being a boy and that in any other case, Yasu could either be a girl or a boy. I don't want to spam this thread up with more discussion about what's under Yasu's skirt/whatever the fuck kanon wears so I'll just say that I messed up.

I am pretty sure what I described was in the vn. With the manga I was talking about how everything is pretty much fed to you by Erika, as if episode 7 wasn't blatant enough.
Gender never goes further than them saying Sayo is Lion, and given how I am pretty sure Lion is called Kinzos grandson, I think it's safe to say Sayo is male. Maybe if R07 didn't have Natsuhi talk abou t "that man from 19 years ago" we wouldn't assume gender, unless the servent was male.

The protag of Mushoku Tensei starts as, and often continues to be, a venal, self-centered perv, but he's still the protag and I've heard he gets somewhat better over time. Trash people on twitter want him cast into outer darkness to suffer eternally because he's not a good person, the beam in their own eye being that they too are not good people.
