Also Siegfried is a failure and from what I heard it seems to pass over to the Gacha.
Huh, come to think of it, unless I'm forgetting something Siegfried is indeed the only Apocrypha character who hasn't gotten redeemed in the mobile game yet. I can't remember them doing anything with him outside of certain comedy moments.

He's only useful against enemies with the Dragon trait, so atleast he has that going for him.

I'm currently re-watching Yu Yu Hakusho, one of my all time favorite animes.

Not entirely unrelated, I both recently found out that my little sister loves Hunter x Hunter, and that YYH and HxH were actually made by the same guy.

I believe I've convinced my sister to watch YYH at some point (she'd heard of it before but had never seen it before I told her how fantastic it was), and knowing it was made by the same guy who made YYH, I already want to see HxH (after I finish re-watching Yu Yu Hakusho of course), but I noticed that there are two entirely different versions of that in anime form: I don't do Manga- the 1999 one and the 2011 one.
I've heard that neither of them are actually finished, even now, (but the 2011 version obviously has has more story because it came out like a decade later), I actually have access to both versions because I'm cool like that, but my sister said she's only seen the 2011 version and couldn't actually tell me which one was better. So I'm asking you guys. Which one should I start with? (I'll watch them both eventually.)

2011 version. Chimerant ark is generally considered one of the high points of the series, which the 1999 anime doesn't even get into. Its got less filler (therefore being closer to the manga) and MADHOUSE art, also generally considered good things.

Also your sister may be a closet fujo. HxH has a powerful male to male shipping community. I suggest having an intervention before it is too late.

Thanks for the answer.

My little sister is already pretty far gone to me in a lot of ways... (We are pretty much diametrically opposed politically.) but she's still my sister, and I will always care about her like an older brother should care about his little sister. I've never asked her if she was into yaoi, (and I never will, because tbh I'd rather not know) But knowing her like I do, I really don't think that's the reason why she likes Hunter x Hunter.

It's funny, but I would be amazed if there weren't plenty of people (mostly women) who also shipped the various dudes of YYH together. I honestly doubt that my sister would do that, but I will ask

YYH had a pretty strong fujo scene too back in the day. Mostly Kurama/Hiei and Kurama/Karasu from what I recall. Dated a wierdo weeb chick who was into it back in high school.

For the most part, I'm pretty new to anime. I started watching One Piece (my first anime) in summer of last year and have gotten up to the Alabasta arc. Then I left it to squirm for a while and watched some of soul eater which was OK, then left that too to go watch the first few episodes of Cowboy Bebop and left THAT to start Naruto a couple weeks ago. I guess you could say I'm a bit of a hermit when it comes to anime, most of the time i'm too lazy to even watch it, watching youtube instead of it. Guess I should explain why I started watching the anime that I watched. I chose One Piece because it seemed cool to have a pirate anime and some of the fight scenes seemed dynamic and fluid. Its gonna be a long journey to finish it. I picked Soul Eater next because a friend of mine from about 2 years ago was watching it and asked him if it was good, he said yes. Cowboy Bebop because I heard it was really good and also had a phenomenal English dub ( I don't like watching anime in sub) and finally Naruto. Picked Naruto because I got a few videos on you tube which were Rock Lee's fights with Gaara and Kimimaro. He is now my favorite character and my main in Naruto Storm 4. Rock Lee is just such a badass and I wish they could've part more of him in Shippuden. That's just from what I heard though.
I'd recommend for One Piece to forgo the anime and simply read the manga, though I've heard the movies are worth a watch (they have some great animation). This isn't speaking as someone in to One Piece, but with a lot of the big three anime it's chock full of filler to bloat the episode count. Similar with Naruto, though I know there are sites online you can use to skip the filler and only watch the actual canon episodes.

With Soul Eater I've always loved the anime, partial due to it being one of the first series I watched when getting into anime back in the day. The first half is definitely a lot more silly than the more serious second half where I find the story really gets going and introducing its major players. Second half also features one of my favorite anime openings:
She also did the opening for Gundam 00 with her band "The Brilliant Green" and her stuff as Tommy Heavenly is just her solo stuff.

Cowboy Bebop I can't say anything about given I haven't seen it myself yet, just have never gotten around to it even with all the hype around it. I don't know, I'm just stuck feeling I'm going to end up disappointed after how much I've seen it hyped up as "the best of the best" by many anime fans.

If you want any recommendations, since you seem to favor shows that have slick fights/action and good dubs (I'll make special note if it's a mecha series since I know that's a turn off for some):
-Black Lagoon
-Darker than Black
-Full metal panic (Mecha)
-Gundam 00 (Mecha)
-Full metal Alchemist (You can start with Brotherhood here as it is the proper adaption, but I'd honestly recommend watching through the original first since its beginning is a lot more fleshed out than brotherhood which kind of speeds through it to get to the new stuff. Makes a lot of the more emotional stuff a lot weaker in the newer series. Also, there's Conqueror of Shamballa which I remember enjoying even if it wasn't the best, though I know people get weirdly upset about this one.)

Just finished binging the second half of Fate Apocrypha because I quit in the middle and always wondered how bad it could have been?

Quite bad. Fate Apocrypha feels like a soulless mishmash of ideas from the Fate series being used by a shitty writer, ie. a fanfic. There is a big problem of characters reacting like retards for no real reason and forgetting basic shit they can do because that would break the plot. For example, Assassin attacking a character that doesn't use her command spells to recall her servant, despite that being the very point of command spells. Or the very act of that assassin attacking its own team being purely due to the writer not having anything to do with the character besides filler. The whole system of servants doesn't seem to matter anymore. Assassin is just a caster (who's completely identical to Caster from the original Fate), Rider not being able to outrun anyone despite it being his fucking point. Everyone are just as strong as the plot needs them to be rather than have distinct pros and cons.

But the biggest problem in the show is the focus on servant characters. A big point in the Fate series is that, barring Arthuria, the servants summoned are basically copies of the original heroes. Meaning any event they went through is wiped away from their souls after being released. This makes any character developement of theirs completely pointless and the show seemingly forgets that incredibly important factoid, since it literally dumps almost all the masters midway through. The characters that are not servants include the extremely boring main character Sieg, a homonoculous who needs to face the fact that human societies will always fuck over part of its populace. Oh it's so deep and complex! Should we like human despite them killing each other? Someone inform Hajime Isayama of this deep masterpiece.

The only good thing about the series is Mordred and her master, who are pretty much the only interesting and likable characters. Also Siegfried is a failure and from what I heard it seems to pass over to the Gacha. And loli Assassin should have killed Jeanne because, at least if I remember correctly, in-lore, the more specified a curse it, the more powerful it is. And loli Assassin has a fucking checklist of requirements. Also shouldn't the ability to summon "evil" servants be due to the grail being polluted?
Yeah, but Episode 22

None of what you said surprises me in the slightest. I'm just surprised that you didn't also include Sensui/Itsuki, because that one was just as explicitly there as Kurama/Karasu, maybe more so even, even if both are technically entirely one-sided, (Kurama obviously didn't reciprocate Karasu's, let's be honest, really fucked up feelings, but it just occurred to me that we never really found out if Sensui actually felt the same way about Itsuki that Itsuki obviously felt about Sensui.)

However, Kurama/Hiei has absolutely no basis in fact. Any woman who thinks that's an actual thing is just retarded.

Watching Jojo for the first time and nearing the end of part 3.

Holy shit I can’t believe I was ignoring this show for so long. It is an absolute blast.

Joesph in particular is fantastic.

EDIT: Now I've finished part 3. I'm feeling sad now.
Parts 2 and 3 are the best parts of JoJo. Parts 4 and 5 are good in their own right but don't really compare to Battle Tendency or Stardust Crusaders.

Also you'll get a little bit more from Joseph in Diamond is Unbreakable, so there's that to look forward to if you want to continue. Part 4 can drag, but there are great characters throughout the part.

I would argue that Part 5 has the best Stand fights in the series, but it's kind of let down by its cast. I like the gang, but they're not a patch on the Stardust Crusaders or Josuke and co.

I heard the ending of the Light Novels was a clusterfuck. The neighbor girl turns Yandere and kidnaps the protagonist and it ends with Kuroneko being dumped and the siblings starting to date.

Part 3 drags on too long. It's just "Stand User of the Week" without a lot less of the sense of progress like Part 5 or especially Part 4 had where it feels like that beating the asshole who showed up this week will lead the heroes somewhere. The Dio fight at the end is one of the absolute best though.

You're not wrong about the "Stand User of the Week" aspect of Part 3. But I don't know, while I normally don't care for that sort of thing in certain shows, it kinda works for me in this one oddly enough. I guess it just fits the general vibe of the show. Helps that they're so varied and force each of the characters to approach things in different ways.

It's just interesting to me how the show starts off relatively grounded and only gets more and more out there as it goes on.

In a weird way, I also like how the last fight in Part 2 went down.

Joesph beating Kars out of sheer luck just seems so appropriate for some reason, and it helps that the show is so honest about it.

Man, I still remember the shitstorm on /a/ when that ending dropped. Some of my favorite times on /a/ is when a popular "which girl wins?" series ends and the nuclear fallout between those that picked the winning girl smugly rubbing it in and the ones that backed the losing girls seething. Don't even need to be invested in the series to enjoy the show and I remember Oreimo causing quite a spectacle in that regard.

Jotoro doesn't fight as smart as his ancestors either. Before they always won by being clever against stronger enemies, he just kinda muscles his way through everyone with his overpowered Stand until Dio comes along. One of the things that made it the best fight was he had to actually use his head for that one.

I never really got that impression for the most part. There were times where he had to fight smart like against the blind guy and both the Darby Bros. And there were times where even if he could brute force his way through, doing so would result in the death of his grandfather or his friends or the enemy’s stand takes advantage of Platinum’s limited range. He couldn’t even use his stand at all when the gang fought Death 13.

Not saying there weren’t moments like that. And that’s probably why half the fights were done by the other Crusaders. Even then though, it fits with his character I feel. He’s a delinquent type kid who has a hell of a poker face and is able to intimidate and break the confidence of those he faces.

But yeah, I really liked how he was forced to use his stand to do stuff like stop his heart when fighting Dio.

Idk how I forgot about that. Probably cause I mostly saw shit with Kurama. Didn't Togashi draw some official fujo bait? I swear I saw a drawing of Kurama and Karasu where Karasu was wearing a Nazi armband for some reason.

Each part has its strengths and weaknesses. Part 7 remains my favorite because pretty much everything about it works great (hurry up with the anime already, David), and part 4 is my second-favorite mainly because of its slice-of-life-but-with-Stand-users plot. I feel like if you treat it like Twin Peaks, it makes a bit more sense: "how will they beat Kira" and "who killed Laura Palmer" really aren't that important, they're just the starting points to hang a bunch of interesting character interactions on. I think that's why Jojo remains engaging decades later; every time Araki starts a new part, he keeps things fresh and changes up enough of the story structure to keep you interested.

I definitely advise picking up the manga once you're through the anime, mostly because there's no indication yet of when any more will get adapted. It took almost two years between the end of part 4's anime and the start of part 5's, and it's already been a year and a half since part 5 wrapped up. I know part 6 is basically nobody's favorite, but if the majesty that is Steel Ball Run is ever to be animated, we have to get through that first.

Yeah, he ends up marrying and fucking his little sister and they end up as a couple.
Judging by the author's other works like Eromanga Sensei they most definitely have a little sister incest fetish. You do you I guess.

I only watched the anime for the show, and the ending of that was a complete clusterfuck too, it randomly turns into a harem seemingly for no reason. Apparently it's much more natural seeming in the manga.
