Yeah same. I went into it not knowing what to expect but I can see the appeal in the different character types playing off of each other. Also to quote someone from the /a/ thread, I like the implication that the flamboyant okama was the one making fabulous birds.

Season 1 was the only time the writers didn't rely on pure shock value to drive the plot along with "HELL YEAH THIS IS AWESOME" moments. I'd say it's pretty cool even if they blew the budget in a couple of episodes. The character interactions feel more organic than in later seasons.

S2-S5 are highly recommended if you love the parts of anime where a cool song plays and hero does something awesome (especially if said hero is voiced by Nana Mizuki) since that's the entire basis of Symphogear.
 
Got around to watching the first two Fate Heaven's Feel films. It's alright, some nice spectacle fights but it's hard to get attached (though it might be because I played the VN).
Sakura is just not a compelling heroine, being a constant victim doesn't make people automatically like you, if anything it can be annoying when the character is constantly being a doormat to her cruel fate. It's a shame because the plot of the route is a culmination of every previous events and themes (doubly so for the Ufotable studio) and it's wasted on a character that barely had a role in the previous two routes.

The stories with the side characters are meant to keep things from being too repetitious, but your mileage may vary. The second season has some growth and a decent ending. I'm guessing this show is supposed to be one of those "comfy" anime shows. I was hoping for a 3rd season or an OVA series when they're grown up.

Yeah while I'm fine with Sakura as a character it feels like in the grand scheme of things her main purpose seems to be to trigger Rin and Shiro's doubt in the ideals they were raised with. She also has a similar thing going on to Kohaku from Tsukihime where clearly the idea is that there's a contrast between their cute and unassuming previous route selves compared to their own route when they snap, but I dunno why Nasu did the same thing twice cause I imagine it was more impactful the first time around. Hell, if what people said about a certain Kara no kyoukai character is true, haven't watched the anime or read the novel myself yet, he did the same character trope 3 times.

Nasu just likes cute, submissive, kind girls getting raped on the daily because that is the kind of person he is. You can smell the early 2000s VN coming off everything he touched.

I always thought her story went better in the VN, since you had the choice there. You can keep the hero ideals and kill Sakura, and the outcome isn't even that bad.
 
Did anyone catch the first Redo of Healer episode? Sentai didn't mess up like Crunchyroll/Funimation did with Goblin Slayer's first episode warning.

I'll recommend the first episode of Kemono Jihen, pretty solid setup. Also there is a new Netflix anime and the fucking 3d animation is atrocious.

It would have made more sense for Ilya to have her own route (or really this route since she has more of a connection to the grail, previous routes and Shirou's past). Plus her and Berserker's back story is fucking tragic.

Going by the app I watch this one (not official by any means, but superior in many ways), it has 3 versions. The uncensored may air 5 hrs later.

Also, the Jobless one is a great one. I'd definitely recommend it just for fun factor.

This and Shield Hero are among the oldest modern Isekai webnovels(that later became light novels, then manga) that many later ones take queues from, yet they both took forever to get Anime adaptions. It's a trash series, I just find it weird they it took them so long. For example this one is the origin of "Truck-kun", as retards tend to call it.

Yeah, anecdotally he was part of the opening arc of Yu Yu Hakusho when Truck-kun killed Yusuke so unexpectedly that the afterlife had to pull some strings to revive him in the mortal realm so he could be their agent like they planned. This being the plot of a manga that started in 1990.
