I'm.....fucking........screaming. @Kari Kamiya look at it! LOOOKK
I assume "Dubbed masters don't exist anymore" means they couldn't get in touch with Disney, because they own all the old Saban shows - including their anime dubs.

I recall they were looking for the English masters of Mon Colle Knights and they couldn't reach Disney either. (And they are still looking for them!) So what you're getting is stuff taken from tapes that have been circulating for years, put to new images. And I don't think they have every English episode either. But, at the very least, you're getting the original uncensored Japanese with English subtitles - and that is a fine thing indeed.

Which also means The Water Nixie, The Iron Stove, Godfather Death, and apparently there's one where a wicked witch sucks a girl's blood like a vampire?

Western "adult" cartoons are almost exclusively limited to comedy sitcoms, whereas anime covers a much wider range of genres. I enjoy them both, but they're really not comparable products at all.
Sounds like a cop out western animation covers many genres.

If you count kid's cartoons sure, but I honestly can't think of a single adult cartoon that doesn't follow the episodic sitcom formula to at least some degree. Where are all these plot-focused mystery/action/drama/whatever shows that I'm apparently missing out on?
Yeah, the only thing I can think of is the netflix Castlevania show.

Discotek is good at picking up the titles people seem to forget about, or ones that have terrible licensing time restrictions.
I'm still waiting for them to release Konosuba S2 on Blu-ray, it took something like 6 years before they were able to release S1.

Grimm's Fairytales will have 47 episodes, mentioned the dubbed masters no longer exist. Project A-ko will be getting new extras and will include the sequel films.

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot that the entirety of Grimm's Fairytales does equal out to 47 episodes, so I guess the entire completed series will be released even though it may have to be in another language as a result (hence it being bilingual). That's awesome, actually.
>Arion
Man it's about time, think it was the last big Yoshikazu Yasuhiko film that hasn't been brought over to the west and needed some love. Little sad that I missed out on Discotek's release of Venus Wars (recently went OOP) but I think Sentai is releasing it now as a special edition. Will have to figure out how to get that as someone outside the states for a decent price since it looks great.

I highly recommend watching his movie work (Crusher Joe, Venus Wars, Arion) because they're all great 80s action flicks and lots of fun. Music is also great for them all, especially Venus Wars and Arion since Joe Hisaishi did the music for those two. I think he's more known for his character design work, but his directorial/original story works are a bunch of fun. He also did the criminally underrated Giant Gorg anime.

Apparently with Project A-ko they're also experimenting with some new technology to help with restoring things with poor masters or no access to them with AstroRes. No idea how it works but it's looking great.

They also apparently are using it on their new release of Memories to touch it up a bit. Think it's still in the experimenting phase but right now it's looking like it'll really help with older series that no longer have masters to work with or are in too bad shape to use.

There are more Western animation shows that covers other areas such as action, adventure and drama. Comedy is just the preferred genre and the one that’s most marketable. Doesn’t help that there’s a a number of Americans that still believe cartoons should be funny.

I'm sure that Discotek will release the movie, but the delay may be due to the dub. The first two seasons already had one on Crunchyroll but I'm guessing COVID delayed the one for the movie. Once that gets done or premiers on CR, then I'm sure it'll be a part of Discotek's 2021/2022 releases. I wonder if the Sentai Venus Wars re-release will have a better transfer or if it'll be the same as the previous one. Wait a minute, I found a bit more info on this release.

Meant to post this yesterday, but forgot:

"In My Hero Academia, you get to see Izuku Midoriya go from [being told] no no no to being the baddest b. I feel like that applies to my life. You know, sometimes you gotta hear a lot of no no no's, and it only makes you go harder to be the best," the rapper said.

This isn't the first time Megan has shown her love for My Hero Academia or Izuku for that matter. In the past, she spoke with Crunchyroll about her public love of anime. The conversation touched upon a ton of series, but Megan called out Izuku as a character who specifically inspires her.

Happy December 16th (Japan time), "a morning so frigid that I felt the Earth itself would shatter if someone thrust an ice pick into it."

I was more unaware that Sentai had started even shipping outside the States, last time I checked a couple years ago they were US only, useful to know. Price isn't even that bad when converted, but I'm betting shipping would be the real killer since it always is when buying from the states. Probably going to look around a bit to see if there's any better places to order from, like WowHD for example has it for $36.77 CAD with free shipping, might be cheaper than getting it directly from Sentai. Deep Discount (US version of WowHD) is offering it for 23.93 USD with free shipping (in the states) for any American Kiwis looking to save some cash.

I'm still sore from dealing with shipping something from the UK, almost as much as what a bought (which was on sale) just in getting it shipped over. *sigh*

Man, Yu Yu Hakusho was so based and redpilled. There's a scene where they beat the ever-loving shit out of a tranny while deliberately misgendering her. Shit was cash.
