I got Moribito for 84 cents lol. Apparently it used to air on Adult Swim? And its based on a book series? The girl looks like she could snap your spine.
"Used to air on Adult Swim" is being pretty generous. They picked it up during the dark period in between the death of weeknight anime and the relaunch of Toonami, and for whatever reason, they fucked with its scheduling hard. They began showing it in August 2008, and I believe they changed its timeslot a couple times along the way without advance warning. They ran the first ten episodes, reran them, then dropped it suddenly in January 2009, also without warning. They started it over from the beginning in June 2009 at a really dead slot, then bumped it even later. It limped to its conclusion, and then I think it was completely dropped after that.

I first tried to watch it back then, but the scheduling fuckups prevented me from seeing more than a couple episodes. It's a show I've been meaning to go back and try watching again at some point.

Not strictly anime related but the Trash Taste guys have been brought up in this thread before; I had their latest episode on and did a double take when they started talking about motherfucking Chris-chan (by way of GenoSamuel's series) and namedropped the fucking Farms, which they refer to as a "shit-talking website". I know in the grand scheme of things Chris is pretty surface-level when it comes to Internet oddities, but it's always a bit jarring seeing this side of the Internet leak into the normiesphere.

So after watching Zeta Gundam I figured hey, ZZ Gundam can't be that bad right? It's one of those things that's hated just because it's hated. The whole "worst gundam ever" is probably just a meme. Besides, Zeta ends on a cliffhanger, the Axis and Haman weren't dealt with, and we don't know what Char and Amuro are doing. It's probably funny too.

I was wrong. Terribly wrong. It's actually worse than people said it would be. It's not even gradual the first two episodes come right out the gate as complete trash. One was supposed to be a recap but it was an obnoxious toy commercial more than anything, and the other somehow displays everything wrong with the series and cast at once. Dogshit traitorous new characters, said dogshit traitors replacing and/or obnoxiously showing up the old characters who were retconned to be morons for that sake, nobody ever gets reprimanded like before, title gundam looks stupid, "onii-chan" little sister character, terrible writing (not just when it's trying to be a terrible slapstick comedy), literal simps for villains. I could go on. I tried to power through but even watching at 3x speed doesn't help. I was willing to slog through if it meant the second half was good like I heard, but ruining Bright and chastising the main character for calling out traitors who nearly got them all murdered was just too much for me back to back. Actually the teenage girl who chastised him is the same person Bright is made stupid to elevate. He's not just stupid like the other returning characters the show goes out of its way to humiliate him. Also Char is never in it. He's in the intro but I looked it up and he never actually appears. What the hell.

This is genuinely the worst anime I've ever watched. Apparently, Garzey's Wing and Brain Powered are somehow worse. I'm morbidly curious about those but this wasn't even fun.

What ever happened to Nanai Miguel

Garzey's Wing is ridiculous, especially the dub. It's a great "so bad it's good" anime to watch, better with booze and friends. My friends and I have pulled out the "EVEN DINOSAURS ARE HERE" quote every time we see dinosaurs in anime for years now.

Just jump straight to Char's Counterattack.

Since it's a show within /m/'s interests your best bet for discussion is over there if /a/ is guaranteed to be shitpost heavy, that's probably where I'll be sticking. A lot more discussion on the references to other /m/ interests and it's generally a lot more relaxed, think even the waifu posting doesn't get as bad since most are interested in the cool robots or kaiju.

Or go to MechaTalk.

ZZ is one of those series most people either love or hate, never much middle ground. Personally I really enjoy the series, does have a rough start which I think was an attempt to lighten the mood after Z that gave tonal whiplash, but as it nears the middle it starts to get into its groove. Judau and the rest of the Shangri-la gang really grew on me, even Beecha and Mondo. It's actually refreshing how they stand up for themselves and tell Bright or others to get bent when asked to do shit they don't want, nothing was more satisfying than Judau punching back when Bright or Wong tried to start shit. They aren't military, basically mercs to fill in for the fighting force the argama is unable to get and mainly only there because it's a convenient place to try getting Leina back. Sure, later in the show Judau develops more reasons to fight but none of them are due to any love for the Federation or furthering their desires. Judau remains up there as one of my favorite UC protagonist, he's super fun to watch.

First episode most people recommend skipping since as you said it's a recap. ZZ seems to have similar problems with Victory in its beginning (Though it's more due to interference higher up wanting action first in Victory).
Dogshit traitorous new characters
Are you talking about Beecha and Mondo? Yeah they do that for a bit mainly because of the Shangri-La character backstory of Junk Dealers that didn't care for a side as long as they got money. Both of them were just weighing which side would make them the most money and more guarantee their survival. Given the reaction of the other Shangri-La guys they must have been used to the two pulling similar shit back home since it comes across more as exasperation.
nobody ever gets reprimanded like before
I mean, none of the Shangri-La gang are military yet Bright kept treating them as if they were with his demands. There's no need for them to take any of his shit.
title gundam looks stupid
Subjective opinion. I love me the Chunky ZZ design and it's later upgrades. Actually wish we got more chunky main suit designs.
"onii-chan" little sister character
Leina is kind of annoying I agree but she's also 10 and the situation she's forced into is pretty awful. If you already don't like Leina you'll probably hate Puru.
literal simps for villains
Idk I found Glemy and mashymre entertaining.
One of the big issues near the beginning is Bright not understanding he can't use his old dominating ways with the Shangri-La kids and it constantly backfiring on him. Once he starts realizing how to properly deal with them there's a lot less butting heads.
Also Char is never in it. He's in the intro but I looked it up and he never actually appears. What the hell.
I remember reading that they had plans to bring in Char as the big bad for the last third but think they scrapped that once they got confirmation to go ahead with CCA, they were doing work on that alongside ZZ.

Having said all that in defense of ZZ, I'd recommend you skip it anyway and just go to CCA for the conclusion to the Amuro/Char rivalry. Was honestly glad it didn't show up in ZZ since it already took away some fun from Zeta when Amuro showed up for me. ZZ isn't really referenced much, outside stuff like Unicorn I think, so it won't impact CCA for you. You will be missing out on the First Neo Zeon War (takes place during ZZ) and the conclusion to some plot lines from Zeta, but you should force yourself to watch a show you very clearly don't enjoy. Maybe just look up some summaries on ZZ to properly set the stage for CCA.

What strange is that I found out who Chuck Yeager is and he recently passed away, yet I was about to watch Strike Witches tomorrow because a character was based on his likeness. Sometimes, anime can make you think in ways in which you wouldn’t even imagine.

I did the inevitable and fell behind on the seasonals I'm watching, somewhat sucks that I have to play catch up again but it happens every season so I don't know why I expected anything different.

Embarrassingly, when I heard the news my first thought was "Wait wasn't that the guy Sam Beckett leapt into during the two part pilot episode of Quantum Leap?" It wasn't even him and was based around the testing of the Bell X-2 instead.

There's an anecdote about Brain Powerd (yes, that's how it's spelled) that I might have told before in this very thread but, if I have, it's been a while.

A certain issue of Animerica magazine from early 1998 (or possibly late 1997) had a blurb square about two upcoming series from Sunrise in their section about new and upcoming anime in Japan. The bulk of the square talked about Brain Powerd where they were seeming to hype it up as being the next Evangelion, and then, almost as an afterthought, they mentioned the other anime without going into much detail about it. The other anime was, of course, Cowboy Bebop.

I think they also mentioned that Yoko Kanno was composing the music for both series. I wish I had a scan, though I probably still have the issue in question somewhere.

Oh God, Brain Powerd. That anime gave me such a headache, and I watched it dubbed. Might've been a mistake especially since not even the dub voice-actors seemed interested/knew what the hell was going on, and I watched it dubbed mainly for Maggie Blue O'Hara as not-Asuka, and she wasn't good in it (she tried, but damn). I tried to pay attention, I really did, but it was so mind-numbingly boring when it wasn't laughably bad. Seriously, when you have some whiny-ass kid threatening to shoot his mother because she never gave him Christmas presents, you expect me to take your Evangelion-knockoff story seriously? And there was something there to the anime, but everything sounded so convoluted that I was forgetting plot elements after three episodes go by. And I ended up marathoning the entire second half and I still couldn't tell you what was going on.

Brain Powerd being hyped up over Cowboy Bebop is so laughable because animation-wise, Brain was terribly-drawn compared to Bebop. Like holy crap, it's almost hard to believe they're from the same studio from the same year. And yet Animerica was more excited over the mecha anime just because Yoshiyuki Tomino was the director. My sides.

A Trail of Blood is incredibly fucking disturbing and the art is...Jesus fuck. It is horrifying. The story is hard to read, no joke. Its a very realistic tale of child abuse and BPD. It is probably the best written version of gaslighting I've seen.
Read it because of these posts. I was not disappointed. Sucks that I caught up probably a few issues from it finishing though.

BIG SPOILERS FOR CHAINSAWMAN:
It's not over. The next chapter is merely the end of the first part, and it's moving to Jump+, same publication that Fire Punch was/Spy X Family is published in. Mostly likely just for a better schedule.
That, & Fujimoto gets more freedom to do stuff.

This is somehow a sign of things getting worse.

Can't say I'm not surprised, its interesting how they're letting Chainsawman get away like that when tbqh they don't have much in the way of line up in the magazine right now. That being said, SJ+ seems to be more lenient when it comes to graphic imagery.
I just hope it doesn't turn into another :Re, though the PARTY threads were pretty fun.

I was also reading that apparently one of the reasons he might be moving there is that his editor Shihei Rin is being shuffled over to Jump+ next year. Rin has been his editor for most of his series since Fuji got into the business so I'm guessing they must be close, Fuji wanting to still have him as his editor means he'll probably go to wherever Rin is. Might seem like a win/win since he gets to keep his long time editor who he must work well with and get more freedom (even more than he currently has) by moving to Jump+ while Jump gets another big profile name to drive people to their online site.
