I finally got around to dumping God of High School. I feel apathetic about all the characters, especially the protagonist who is just Good Value brand Luffy. The world probably the worst part, every single fight feels like an ass-pull because so many people are so good at martial arts they have stands for some reason, and while those are absolutely hidden knowledge most people don't know about they can be shown on broadcast television with no reaction from the the world and very little from the characters. I guess the animation and fights are technically not bad but since the fights are just ass-pulls it's irrelevant.

Seems like To Your Eternity is getting delayed until next year. A little surprising, considering they just recently released the pv.

Made by the same writer as A Silent Voice, the first episode is definitely going to be kino, I'd go as far as to say that its worth watching regardless as a short. It does get a bit shonen-y and convoluted after a while, though.
Just noticed that Demon Slayer will have a film adapting the infinity train arc:

What are the chances of this getting a oversea theatrical release? My Hero Academia had both its movies get it, but then again its more popular in the west, at least from what I have seen.

I'm holding out hope its going to get better as it goes on.

From what I've gathered on some sites, today is the birthday of a character from the first Sakura Taisen games and anime:

Always hungry and tomboyish, the fairly easygoing Kanna serves as the group's raw muscle. Kanna is the master of a Martial Arts style that allows her to easily kill a bull with her bare hands. She sometimes gets into an argument with Sumire over their differences in attitude.

They never really mention what happened to her in the new games or even the new anime. She was referenced once in the intro, but that 's it. Maybe they'll explain her fate in the sequels?

A bit of a spergout: this is how you write a strong woman in games. Though she is a bit muscular she isn't that exaggerated unlike a certain someone we keep talking about in a certain sequel. And she is at least pleasant and has a better personality. I just wish her endings were better.

SEGA needs to remaster and rerelease the first four games

Anime is fucked yet again, the Government are planning to censor anime because "think of teh wommins", so expect anime to be more SJW friendly in the near future.
Nothing is sacred anymore.

I'm curious to know the details of this but I'm not going to raise the alarm bells yet until there's an actual translation out instead of "I used deepl."

There's little to no indication that the government is planning anything.

If the government imposes the obligation on all media, including manga, animation, and film, to serve as a mediator to promote understanding of such a change in mindset, it will exclude expressions that are not desirable for "gender equality" and inhibit the free expression of those who create works of art.
This would make it difficult to produce creative works based on feudalistic societies with values different from those of today, such as period dramas, for example.
Not all media need to be "textbook" content to promote such an awareness-raising understanding. If such understanding is to be promoted, it should be limited to pamphlets, videos and other forms of media aimed at that purpose.

I don't think its a reaction to the Japanese government, I think its a reaction to protect manga and anime from outside influences, such as Western ideologues and Chinese companies. You have to remember in Japan there's a huge push to preserve the culture of manga and anime, especially with regards to female creators.

This might just be a pre-emptive strike or unification of artists so that they can get ahead of the ball. Remember stories about Amazon and Australia (land of censorious faggots) came out. And the relatively tame Uzaki chan reaction on Twitter. They don't want any values or limits imposed on their art. So what they're doing is pushing this through as a women's group as a united front.

Maybe there are some inklings in the government, but this is the same group that told the UN to fuck off as representatives from Japan.

If such problems occur in the workplace, they should be treated as part of the labor problem without distinction as to gender, and a system should be created to ensure that male victims are not left behind.

A major women's group protecting men? Yeah, this couldn't be farther from Western values.

They're also making a distinction between workplace discrimination and creativity. So they're covering all their bases. We've seen a lot of artists doing this, going up to the government and saying these sorts of things. So I think its less than "OMG THE GUBERMENT IS GONNA CENSOR" and more like building in a set of protections so that their work isn't influenced by the West/China. I also feel that this is a blitz leading up to the Olympics, since you've got one guy in government swearing to protect manga, then the creator of Tenchi going to speak on behalf of artists and now this women's group defending their work and saying fiction doesn't exploit women.

So you've got a lot of cultural power being exerted here. We're also talking about the same Japan that basically nuked the humanities and social sciences from orbit in 2015. I know everyone is really terrified of anime/manga getting censored or have some agency regulating it. But we should look at this as a positive. Artists are making the first strike before this can happen and take hold politically. There's also the issue of the Japanese not wanting anything to affect their culture as well, so that gives it a stronger impetus.

I just view this as preemptive protection against those who would try to censor, such as big corporations like Disney (since Disney is getting its asshole blown out by anime and manga), China who would seek to censor everything and Western ideologues. So until the Japanese government release bills or policy, I wouldn't worry.

We already have gatekeepers in the West who are influencing the anime industry. Big franchises pander and with giants like Netflix SJWs have latched on there.

Money speaks. Feminist groups are less of a threat then Woke West companies being integral to Japanese market growth.

Typical armchair expert.

Because every single Western country combined isn't as important of a market for anime as South Korea or China.

That's not true though. South Korea only has 50 million people.

The USA alone has more than 300 million. The two most important markets are China and the English countries in the west.

If you do your research, China is expected to release the same restrictions that it currently does on Hollywood. That combined with negative demographic trends and disparities in disposable income between the Chinese and say the USA mean the West is the future for now. Things could change though.

*sigh*

Gambling Apocalypse Kaiji Omnibus: Vol.2 has been pushed back a week in advance.
Instead of 10/6, it will be 10/13 apparently.

everywhere else for the time being is saying that the release date is 10/6/2020

Population doesn't matter since Jim Bob in the trailer park and Ty'quandro in the hood aren't into anime. Proportionately a far higher amount of South Koreans are into anime hence why their market is number three after China and Japan. The United States is a distant fifth after Taiwan and Europe even lower. Implying you can grow the market solely based on population is the same mistake Hollywood makes when they try and make Star Wars capture the "women market" or all the China-pandering.

Demographics, yeah, like the US and the West have any better demographics than China. Pedro and Muhammad aren't into anime. There are plenty of Hispanic and Arab anime fans, but they stay in their own country since they aren't sending their best.

There's a reason Japan is far more worried about Chinese censorship than Western censorship. Even South Korea has more actual censorship since they don't like fanservice stuff.

Brothers love anime. Anime is growing in the west at an insane rate.

I'm talking about saturation. There are just more people in the West outside of China and India.

Actually yeah, China's in crisis and that's why there genociding ethnic minorities. Muslims are like 1% of America and Hispanics 13%. Even then, healthier population growth is in the West. Not just in the USA, but especially in America. That taken together with huge disparities outside of SK and Japan in disposable income equals the West being the future.

I agree. Wokeness is mostly corporate at the moment and corporations only really go woke when they are over confident. Anime isn't there yet. But if you are looking for how this scum gains a foothold it will be using Western money, access, and digital distribution as leverage.
