I actually like old TMNT and I thought this was funny, but it’s more of the fact that 4Kids managed to get dubbed anime characters from a different nation to show how USA is #1 in almost everything.
While I do agree that using animes are really tone deaf for the already tone deaf message (seriously, who thought about using Dragon Ball of all things for this being a good idea).
The only reason I can think of is that Dragon Ball (and Naruto to a slightly lesser extent) is very popular among a lot of black Late Millennials and Zoomers and that some higher-ups thought this would be a good virtue signal stunt back in June and probably had it queued up its airdate well in advance. The fact that they scheduled it to air at the end of August when everything's actually going pear-shaped for Antifa and BLM is the cherry on top.

Holy shit that was some propaganda wrapped in virtue signaling. Even more fucking disturbing how it's on a block devoted to kids and teens. That's straight up creepy as fuck.
Is Japan ok with CN/Toonami openly using thier properties in such a political manner? If I was the owner of all the shows in the clip I'd seriously look into breaches of contract for having my product dragged into things.
Edit: Also, aren't their multiple laws on the books that children's programming can't be political? Just like the anti toy regulation from the 80's? CN could actually be looking at fines and sanctions for this shit.
The first season of Darker Than Black is terrific... well, up until the finale, anyway. For the most part, 80% of season one is a series of vignettes, similar in style to Garden of Sinners. The overarching plot that served as the connective tissue between those short stories also wasn't bad... until the end when it seems like they panicked and went "oh shit, we still have so much to wrap up!" and proceeded to rush through a trillion plot points in the season one finale.
I didn't like season two at all. Everything I liked about season one was mostly gone and replaced with a lot of shit, going from a really interesting and unique series to fairly generic and forgettable.
... God fucking damn it, turns out I had accidentally started watching with season 2, which probably explains why I didn't really get into it. I'll have to watch from the actual beginning and see how I feel.

CN has been wholly devoted into trying to change children’s cartoons into adult themed material that could be considered obscene. Most of the Western Animation thread revolves around their programming that is CN related.
It reminds me of Nickelodeon trying to force kids to listen to heavy breathing for almost 9 minutes after the Minneapolis riots took place.
I found a very entertaining manga called "Looking up to Magical Girls" about the main character being forced into playing the villain to her beloved magical girls but finds herself really enjoying it due to her Sadistic nature. Very much a series you read in the privacy of your own room due to the situations she gets the girls into. Arts very nice and I love the faces that Utena (MC) pulls off, lots of reaction image fodder. View attachment 1559020
While a lot of the series seems to focus on the fetish aspect, the plot is also fairly intriguing from what's been shown so far. Very interested in seeing where it goes.
Current plot seems to have shifted from constant fights against the magical girls to fighting fellow villains who've gone rogue and pissed Utena off. Really enjoying how absolutely fucked Utena is in the head, but I'm a sucker for MC that are like that.
If it hasn't been made clear yet, it's a yuri manga, so if you can't stand that you'll not enjoy this series. Would highly recommend for anyone that doesn't mind or enjoys Yuri to give it a shot, only around 16 chapters translated at the moment.
This just feels like blatant pandering yet of course Twitter is eating it up and talking about how emotional its gotten them because the cartoon man that hosts their anime block agrees with them politically.
Is that the one where she’s trying to “mind break” a magical girl and then gets super passes off when she does it because “magical girls are supposed to be stronger than that!” and leaves the magical girl very confused?
Started watching Pokemon indigo on Netflix. While pokemon has become the second most autistic franchise behind sonic I still have a soft spot for the original 90s-2000ish run. Behind Jurassic Park and power rangers and Nickelodeon that show was my childhood. after school I'd come home, breeze through homework and watch whenever it was on. Really it did for anime in the 90s what dragon ball did in the 80s...in Japan anyway since DBZ was also catching steam here in the US around the same time.
