the ovas and comics imply that oorai is pretty middle class with the students doing maintence and budget concerns for fuel and ammo; in the cartoon, america is the wealthiest and has a pro team of mechanics and logistics.

italy is piss poor and has trouble practicing because of fuel and ammo shortages. imperial japan is pretty spartan as well.

and if you go into extended universe, burma is super piss poor.
I'm saying the costs of tankery in general. You would practically US military levels of expenditure to keep such a sport up and running.

I thought Anzio was poor because they spend all their money on parties and food?

tankery is supposed to be the de facto sport of old money europe like golf or tennis that japan emulates. but then there's plenty of talk that tankery is also in decline with the people. at the height of tankery, the ussr frequently sent soldiers to train the tank crews. and germany the country is supposed to have the best tank school outright.

im guessing since rhe tankery federation is run by the japanese government, taxpayers are paying into it somehow.

theres also a parallel sport called tankathalon thats cheaper to run in.

but like you say, the tankery families are mega rich so who knows. it could be all milsurp tanks and the ammo doesnt have to be match grade.

anzio is poor because italy is poor and it generates money for its tankery by running the food stalls.

Btw....

I have the first 4 DVD sets of Ranma 1/2. Sets 5 6 7 and the OVA/Movie collection are rather pricey looking. Are they worth it or nah?

Just torrent it like a normal person, anime's not worth spending money on.

I wonder if they have it on Rightstufanime

They certainly do! Good find

I wonder since they're rerelease the manga....does this mean the anime will get rereleased? I assume there's no problems with Rumiko and licensing issues. I never figured out why it went out of print (and the mysterious hiatus on the dub)

Maybe season five (the copy I have is rather big compared to the others, not sure if they're all like that), but you should get them only if you like Ranma 1/2 or really are a completionist. I bought mine used so the prices weren't too terrible (season five is a big oof, though), but it was a gamble because a couple discs from the last two seasons were kinda scratched compared to the previous volumes and the boxes were a bit beat up, but they still worked fine.

Now my OVA/Movie collection's scratched up because it got rattled in the truck (bought it new, too), so I need to invest in a disc cleaner, but I honestly had fun with the show so I figured I might as well have it.

Low sales, is why. It's really a miracle they finished the dub, but that's why the later season box-sets are harder to come by. I think if the manga sells well enough, Viz might consider a rerelease of the anime since a Blu-Ray was released in Japan.

The premise sounds interesting enough.. A house full of tenants. My understanding is that the girl is technically the protagonist while the boy is the deuteragonist?

I think they're about on equal grounds in terms of character, you see Godai first threatening to leave for the umpteenth time and being totally serious about it before Kyoko shows up on their doorstep. Godai's goal mainly is to woo Kyoko since he gets accepted into college early on but he ends up being a bit of a ladies' man somewhat, and Kyoko has to learn to move on with her life and love again but is being stubborn about it. But Kyoko being on a good majority of covers I think is what makes her the main protagonist, or at least she is the face of the series.

Also Maison Ikkoku is considered to be one of the first freeloaders-style comedy and inspired Love Hina and Mahoraba. Doesn't suffer from "Seinfeld is Unfunny", but if you've watched enough series involving the college ronin, it'll be familiar ground but it's not as wacky.

Apparently Kissanime is dead.
yeah but i'm not gonna miss the site.

There-are way better sites than kissanime that don't ban you for using an ad-blocker.

After finding out about torrents I just stopped using streaming sites in general. Feels good not having to wrestle any anti adblock software.

More like the ad-cancer killed them, but they'll be back in another life. They've been killed and resurrected in the past before.

Unless Japan really did crack down hard on them.

"The full implementation will be next year. With this, we might hear to them what will be the consequences for those outside Japan, but for sure there will be penalties such as getting banned from entering the country, paying the fines, and passing the decision to your respective countries' copyright laws. But definitely, Japan will not directly put you in jail. "

It's got nothing to do with that. Google finally got wise to those jackasses hosting terabytes of content on blogspot.
Trying to catch some chinaman or SEAmonkey not living in Japan with a new law is an exercise in futility, considering it's not like there weren't any laws against it beforehand.

It's already illegal to pirate anime or mango under global copyright laws (which are supposed to be enforced globally) and all the most popularly pirated shows/manga are licensed so it's directly illegal under local copyright law in most places too. I doubt anyone in Japan would care enough about some gaijin pirating animu or mango to ban them from entering the country since that's a legal process usually reserved for drug smugglers, terrorists, human traffickers, and people who've already been prosecuted and deported from Japan.

It might be intentional but the relationship of Subaru and Emilia in Re;Zero is just annoying. The few times they actually have a connection, a new arc comes up and Subaru gets gibbed and all that progress disappears. So Subaru feels like he opened up to Emilia, while she sees him as a creepy guy who behaves like he knows her far more than he should.
