Any Case Closed/Detective Conan fans here? I used to watch this on adult Swim back in the day. It's about a high school detective named Jimmy Kudo. He is turned into a kid after he's given a poison that is supposed to kill him from these two guys in a group called the Black Organization. He then has to go by Conan Edogawa while living at his friends Rachels house and making it look like her detective father is solving the cases. That way he won't be found out. Unfortunately it only lasted 100 something episodes before it was cancelled, a good chuck of those never aired. They were just dubbed. It was called due to low ratings. I often blame the time slot. It aired late. Around 1:00 AM where I live which is central time. It didn't air on Toonami as I suppose it was a little two violent. Most episodes are about murder. I also think it failed because of it's genre. There's really nothing super natural about it. There's no magic, super powers, aliens, ghost, etc. Getting turned into a child is the only out of the normal thing. At the time at least I think Americans were usually into animes that had all those things with a few exceptions. At least the manga is still being translated into English.
I actually saw it as a kid when I was around 10-11, it was only dubbed in my country's language till somewheere around 45-48th episode. In Fact, you can even find some of those.

I thought she nailed the tomboy look perfectly.
If anything, I think that look is trending back into the limelight.
It's the head, it's either too big or I don't know, but after actually watching the show this afternoon and not just clips on youtube it sort of works, but she needs a wider neck or something.
>If anything I think that look is trending back into the limelight
The world can never have enough tomboys.

Case Closed is the shit. One day, I'll get around to watching all the episodes and movies.

Act-Age has officially ended

English version of the tweet
https://twitter.com/sldy93/status/1292735165979136001?s=20

Multiple other artists are showing their support & love to Shiro Usazaki (Act-Age artist)

BTW, It's actually been rumored for a while now that the artist & the author don't get along. They unfollowed eachother on twitter & then there was an incident where the original author didn't sign his name on an art piece drawn by the artist for act age at an event (like a shonen jump gallery or something)

Wonder if this means Viz is going to cancel their release of the series as well. Feel really bad for the artist and I hope see can get new work fairly quickly.

Iirc it was portrayed that he fell for her because she didn’t follow his dating sim routes like all the other ones. I think there was also something to do with that she also did her own type of boyfriend hunting similar to what the protag did with his dating sims
Been a long time since I read it tho so I might be mistaken.
Yeah that's the official reason but it doesn't really explain the decision quite well. Maybe if she was promoted to a recurring character it would have worked better, it doesn't help that the last dozens of chapters only had the childhood girlfriend.

I'm not into detective conan but it's one of those series where I'm genuinely impressed at the sheer amount of episodes there are of it. I guess it's the same type of deal with gintama and one piece where people end up just making a viewing guide detailing which episodes are filler and which belong to what arc.

Since I'm starting to get into Lupin III, funnily enough this talk of Detective Conan popped up because it turns out the two did a couple of crossovers in the past.

Well shit, guess I gotta hop on the Conan train at some point before I hit the 2000s era of Lupin III. I know Lupin III is rather unique in that you can jump into a special/movie without prior knowledge of the series and still follow along well, but I don't know if that's really the same for Detective Conan.

If I could watch 700 episodes of One Piece in about four months, I think I can handle Detective Conan just fine. It's just a matter of when I start jumping on the train, I keep hesitating whenever it comes back around the track.

EDIT: Btw episode 4 of the green jacket series is one of the best anime episodes I've ever seen, no lie. I put it on the same tier as Captain Tylor's episode 23.

I remembering trying to get into watching lupin by started with the first season from the 70s which was a mistake as I had just marathoned Cutie Honey and was in no mood for another 70s show. I might pull the sin of skipping to a later part until I'm in the mood for a 70s series again that isn't OG Gundam.

All you really need to know about Conan is the base premise: teen detective gets poisoned by shady organization, poison makes him kid instead of killing him, has to pretend to be a child in order to keep himself alive and discover what said organization is about/after. Uses girlfriend’s father’s detective agency as a cover

Green or Red Jacket?

I really enjoyed it when it aired on Adult Swim back in 2004, but not enough to want to watch hundreds of episodes of it lol.

Green or Red Jacket?
Think it was Green Jacket. It was a while ago but I don't think I even fully finished the first episodes because I couldn't get into the mood for 70s anime. Was an episode about them trying to win a car race or something.

All you need to know is those cross overs suck ass. And they are very much Conan specials/movie with Lupin characters guest starring. So you get a lot more out of them being a Conan fan.

Yup, that's the '71 show. I'm digging it, really, and I'm starting to think this was better animated than Space Pirate Captain Harlock several years later, it's quite smooth. Though I guess I shouldn't be all that surprised given the production studio.

Duly noted.

Dude, Australia tried to ban GTA V, tried to ban porn stars with A-cups. Australia loves to do this shit. Its not a precedent for Australia to do retarded censorship. They have whole review boards. Its just clickbait.
If it's my understanding, only two politicians, a Jew and a bulldyke, part of what are "centrist" (libtard in denial) "microparties" with like... two representatives, are pushing this shit that wouldn't have had any attention if people against it didn't unintentionally make it known around the world.

I mean, No Game No Life? Seriously? It was probably the most forgettable show during the whole "Japanese NEETs get stuck in European fantasy land" genre fad of the mid to late 2010s. I even saw the prequel movie at a limited screening in 2017 and don't remember shit.

Eromanga Sensei basically rode the coattails of Oreimo, and hasn't had the legacy (of pissing shippers off) it did before even finishing. Maybe some Australians are just pissed off at the coincidental gibberish Abbo name of a town?
