I'm downloading a PDF of Phantom Blood for my tablet. Work is going to be slow for the next few weeks so I'm going to start reading the manga. Parts 5, 7 and 8 sound really interesting to me.

Fuck Berserk is beautiful to look at. Everyone tells me it's so shocking byt I'm in awe of the artwork.

i think the most recent anime i've finished is gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun. a very easy but hilarious watch; all the characters are great. yuu is my new wife. :heart-full:

manga-wise i'm reading a cute yuri manga called sasameki koto, and another manga called koe no katachi, which is sad as hell but also adorable. i keep up with kuraghime, otoyomonogatari and sukitte ii na yo whenever they release new chapters, i think it's monthly? i'm also sometimes reading attack on titan but the plot has been shitty lately so i keep putting it off. :(
 
I just watched the first episode of Puella Magi Madoka Magica after realizing that I should probably know a thing or two about the show on which my current avatar is based.

Five episodes into this show and the main character still isn't a magical girl. I can see why, out of all the images I've seen people use from the show, she hasn't been the one to be front and center; it's always one of the other, more interesting supporting characters.
 
Yesterday, a friend and I were discussing the controversy and ire surrounding Western film adaptations of anime. We brought up the abortion that was Dragon Ball: Evolution, and the relatively recent report of Scarlett Johansson being cast to play Major Kusanagi in an adaptation of Ghost in the Shell, along with the shitstorm that followed.

Him and I were trying to think of any series that if adapted for a Western audience, would actually be good and wouldn't piss of weebs.
We decided that Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt would be the best bet. Given the subject matter, it seems it would be right up the alley of most Western general audiences.

We even sperged a little a lot and decided that Ke$ha would play Panty. Both are dirty, slutty blondes who, despite the overwhelming nastiness, are still hot.

That's actually not a bad idea. P&S was heavily westernized in the first place, after all.

Cowboy Bebop is one of those shows where you have to watch it dubbed because it's just that well done. Others include Samurai Champloo, Space Dandy, Black Lagoon, the Big O, Hellsing/Hellsing Ultimate, Fullmetal Alchemist (both 2003 and Brotherhood), Cromartie Highschool, and Ghost Stories. I saw Cromartie Highschool in the Japanese dub. I like Takahiro Sakurai, Norio Wakamoto and Yuji Ueda as voice actors. I agree about Cowboy Bebop, the Japanese dub wasn't bad as well.

I mentioned this before already, but the only reason to ever watch Cromartie dubbed is because it was so terribly done, the show's even funnier because of it. It's not even like Ghost Stories where they changed the script into a comedic one, they simply just went with zero voice direction and waited to see the results

Still better voice direction than 4Kids ever gave its shows

I am not a huge fan of anime, but if I want any, it is comedy anime like B Gata H Kei, Seitokai Yakuindomo, and PSWG.

I can hardly keep up interest in most popular anime (the only exceptions being DBZ and Sailor Moon). I tried watching Fairy Tail, but I stopped giving a shit about it (and a certain character bugs me, but I will spare the sperginess).
 
I've really gotta start watching just one anime at a time. I just started Fist of the North Star yesterday, and I started Initial D today, while I still haven't finished Watamote, Dragon Ball, and Dragon Ball Z. And I've still got a bunch on my backlog.

If it's a comedy you want, check out Inferno Cop. Made by the same guys as P&SWG after they left Studio Gainax. There's only 13 episodes and they're usually around 3 minutes long.


Seriously, TRIGGER has got to be my new favorite anime studio. Kill la Kill was my favorite anime to watch in 2013, I surprisingly enjoyed Inou Battle, and seeing the first episode of Ninja Slayer confirmed to me it's a hilarious spiritual successor to Inferno Cop (Hell, Inferno Cop and Kenji literally have the same backstory, except it's now ninjas instead of criminals)
 
I'm looking at reviews for Ninja Slayer From Animation. I find it hilarious that there are people who think this show's terrible plot and animation is supposed to be taken seriously

It's the difference between people who expect the next Kill la Kill and the people who know what TRIGGER is REALLY known for:

Holy shit, in the latest JoJo episode the name changes in the subs for the D'Arby brothers are so fucking dumb. I know guys, instead of giving them actual names, let's just call them Younger and Elder! That's a great idea!
