The Interspecies Reviewers kerfuffle is hilarious. Sure, it's degenerate, but why would people lose their minds about this show and demand it being removed when it's far less creepy than your average episode of Big Mouth? It seems like people are less irked about the sex and more about the prostitution angle.

I've only watched reaction videos to Funimation's cancellation of Interspecies Reviewers and I've not really seen the anime itself but, just from the clips I've seen on Youtube within those videos, I was amused that the in show review format is a column of four mini-reviews each with a red number rating behind the text. In other words, it's exactly the same format as the mini-reviews in classic Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine.

Round 2 of all you need to know about Coordinator Mitama in Magia Record:

Guess what is in her tea? Here's a hint - it's not jam.

The /a/non reports that it isn't half-bad, but he would've used less mustard next time.

Anyone find it incredibly baffling that Funi pretends to have standards? "We undercut our anime creators, blacklist our employees because of false accusations (Oh hi Vic), tamper with a creator's original works, and act like jerks to our customers, but at least we don't have fictional characters fucking!" Eat a bag of dicks Funi. You're almost as bad as Crunchyroll.

Side discussion: are there any other series that have made you emotional for any reason?
Devilman, it's ending is Eva's but worse.

Probably, nobody gives a shit about the other degenerate shit they license like Highschool DXD and even the asshurt over Goblin Slayer and Shield Hero was largely ignored.

From what I can gather, I assumed the problem was that the original manga is pretty tame compared to the anime. To take the sex change potion chapter for example, in the manga they never show the sex and just gave vague hints as to how it went while in the anime they do show the feminized versions of the reviewers having sex. Even in the japanese version they had to show a black screen for some segments and I'm guessing was the version airing on the channel where they eventually dropped it.

Dr. Stone is terrible. I was watching the dub on Toonami the other night and every little plot point just had me rolling my eyes because it was all just so played out and predictable. The art is anywhere from just barely passable to cringey depending on the character and scene and let's not even get into how annoying and unnatural all the dialog is in both the sub and dub. At least it's not Black Clover or Fire Force I guess but still..

I'd do everything that I can just to see the possibility of a Negima remake that's actually faithful to the source goddamit

I actually think Wat's a decent youtuber but he can be a real faggot from time to time

Okay, now that he's actually released the video, it turns out that talking point he highlighted isn't so bad in context. Still, couldn't he have used a point that doesn't make him look like a twat when taken out of context?

Yeah, I tried watching this a while ago. I liked the overall concept and general plot a lot but everything else was awful. The characters especially ruined it for me, being too cartoony and generic. No one seems to give one iota of a shit that everyone and everything they knew and loved is gone, not to mention that the two leads were apparently conscious yet immobile for 3700 years but seem to suffer no psychological effects from it.

Yeah, I really like the premise and I still watch occasionally because it sometimes falls into the so bad it's good territory. What really bothers me the most though is how the main character remembers every little detail of scientific research he's come across in his life without any notes or anything. It's just incredibly far fetched even by the show's own rules. Like maybe if he were portrayed as one of those card counting autist types.

I liked to think of it as Survival game - the animation. But in the end it's very generic with the main pull being watching the crazy inventions rather than the actual characters and plot.

I've decided to rewatch the old Yu-Gi-Oh! anime for old time's sake, and yes, I am watching the 4Kids dub that I grew up with back in the early 2000's. Even with the censorship and the campy dub, I still like it. It has a sort of charm to it, despite the ridiculousness of it all.

I've been thinking for a while now about why it is I felt like there was a difference in the show right around the Waking the Dragons arc, and it's not just because it's a filler. I think coming off of Battle City, the anime wanted to get darker, and 4KIDS tried to keep it lighthearted, but they were delving into some dark comedy. On top of the seemingly endless reruns they'd do, it didn't feel "fun" as a kid, it was just depressing and a big bummer.

Even rewatching it as an adult, it was actually a bit of a hard sit because it dragged, for one thing, but it was dark and cruel to the characters (although Weevil deserved it, fuck Weevil). Yeah, Yu-Gi-Oh is a dark shounen at its roots, but while Yami Marik was a huge psycho, he was a fun psycho, cracking stupid jokes and just having fun. I think the Egyptian themes helped, too, and that got put on hold for the next two arcs before Millennium came in. Dartz was easy on the ears because of his voice-actor, but he's... kind of dull as a character. His subordinates were more interesting, but he weighed everything down with his alliance with Leviathan. The arc after that is so forgettable despite feeling like a safer rehash of Duelist Kingdom, I don't know why it even exists.

So yeah, Waking the Dragons fucked it up in tone and pacing, and it didn't really deliver, but 4KIDS had to make do with what they could, and bless their hearts, they tried.

I legit have more respect for 4kids than modern funimation. At least they had a sense of professionalism

Some of 4kids' other stuff was bad but man, I love their Yu-Gi-Oh dub. It's got so much cheese, it's hilarious. As a dumbass little kid I used to have a crush on Syrus from Yu-gi-oh GX. I've actually gotta rewatch it at some point, honestly.

One of these days I want to just go and order all the volumes of the manga(With the non-duel monsters stuff included) and take like a week off of work to relax and read through it again like when I was a kid following the story in Shonen Jump.

does anyone read ajin? they explained where the powers come from and it's utter bullshit. so basically

they come from the human heart. if you die with strong emotions and you dont want to die, your emotions become a unique sort of energy and you come back to life. technically everyone can become an ajin. and this has been going on since caveman times. ajin are supposed to be fairly rare but how is that possible when EVERYONE who dies has a strong desire not to die? how has every killer managed to actually kill their victims? why isn't the military littered with ajin? why isnt EVERY military in history littered with ajin? every civilization that was wiped out? how does ANYONE die of anything that isn't old age? what the fuck is this explanation?

it's been a brilliant series up till this point. and it's still good in every way it was previously, easily some of the best action sequences I've seen in a manga, the characters are realistic and imperfect, the art is excellent, sato is still one of my favorite manga villains, but oh man does this particular detail disappoint me. I would prefer they kept the origin a mystery, it isn't necessary to the story anyways.

Hate to say it, but they were also rather progressive for their time by keeping Maddie Blaustein on after she transitioned from Adam to Maddie. (Actually, did she ever get the surgery? Not that it matters, from her photos, she passed enough to be convincing--she looked like Rosie O'Donnell to me as a kid.) Funimation can't even claim to have a transperson on their team.

Out of all the 4Kids VA's I found Megan Hollingshead to be very underrated. She was one of the best ones imo. Nurse Joy, Mai Valentine, etc. Then she moved to California and got Rangiku Matsumoto in Bleach. Kinda hope she's still in the business.

She reminds me of Edith Head. I believe she did transition. Maddie seemed like one of the funniest people to be around. Veronica Taylor said she was the sweetest person to get to know. I remember she used to interact with her fans on Myspace and social media too. But what I find interesting about her was that she didn't just voice characters, I think she worked on dub scripts and directed. She also wrote comic books and she was the one who confirmed that they did indeed have a dubbed version of Electric Soldier Porygon.

I keep hoping Discotek releases Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics uncut with subs. I grew up on the Nickelodeon version and I really miss it. I have a bootleg of the dubbed episodes.
