EDIT: Has anyone watched Gunbuster? It's by the same guy who directed EVA, and has some great action scenes. I'm not big into the waifu game, but if I had to choose one, Noriko would take the cake.

All the love for Gunbuster. It's something I'd recommend to just about everyone, so go watch it.
Though I watched it in the middle of reading Getter Robo without knowing just how much it'd reference, so that was something. I'm not sure what I expected, given that Getter Robo is a series about pilots shouting and combining their flying machines into a giant robot to fight monsters bent on eliminating the human race while Gunbuster is a series about pilots shouting and combining their flying machines into a giant robot to fight monsters bent on eliminating the human race. (But really, Gunbuster is an homage to just about everything, so in the end it's not surprising how much it seems to pull from Getter.)

Also, consider this a recommendation to read Getter Robo.

I watched MLA - Total Eclipse after completing the VN (yeah I'm one of those people what of it? :P ) and man I've been hit with recurring feels over the course of the last week. I think that's the mark of an extremely great series/setting: it draws you in, you start to give a shit about the characters and setting and then bam, it murders everything and everyone. I haven't been able to watch anything, I just play the occasional game and do chores and stuff. *sigh*

I watched some of the Persona 3 movie because I wasn't sure if I wanted to soldier through the game any more (though I stopped watching after I got to where I was in the game). When I saw the calendar pop up for the first time, I felt like I had a bloody 'Nam flashback.

I'm enjoying Cute High Earth Defense Club Love, having watched some magical girl shows with the girlfriend. It's more or less an affectionate parody.

The Teacher being an animated corpse is pretty messed up, is that the only way to they could get in a nod to Madoka?

Read the comics. Are you up to the Arrancar arc? That arc and the next few are hit and miss. If you are liking it so far I say keep going.

I'm just about to start episode 110, which is the "start" of the Arrancar arc. My friend told me to just read the comics, but I honestly am enjoying how the story is progressing through the anime. The filler of the Bount arc is making me appreciate the main arc that much more. Also watched the first film. It was a typical movie cash grab, but whatever it was fun.

Honestly, Bleach isn't as bad as people make it out to be. The ones who say it's just a DBZ knockoff make it obvious that they haven't bothered to give it a chance.

Also, I actually liked the Bount arc. It's the least shitty out of the fillers IMO. I prefer the anime, but it does censor some things, so I would recommend reading the manga too.

And yeah, the movies are worth a watch. My personal favorite is the first one.

I don't even like Bleach and I think the whole "DBZ knockoff" argument is absolutely stupid. The only relation they have with each other is that they're both a Shonen series. By that logic, Death Note is a DBZ knockoff

I think it's the whole "I'm the one. I gotta be strong to win the fight to save Earth/protect my friends/ be a hero. But i'm not strong enough yet. Let me train. Now I'm good lets win.", ad nauseam.

Not that the story in either is bad. It's just the power up guy angle that a lot of shows (not just anime, look at Spartacus on Netflix for the same thing).

And the formula actually works, if you end it sensibly. Avatar: The Last Airbender was a well-received show that only ran for three seasons.

I was in the target demographic for Dragonball Z when it came to the States. My friends and I thought it was bullshit because of all that padding.

So I've finished watching End of Evangelion. Let me tell you, watching that film is a really good way to ruin your day. All of that questioning of reality while all this weird shit is flashing across the screen is not a fun thing to watch.

...Wow. I'm debating Gundam SEED with a Lacus fan and he ends up making racist comments about the Middle East while advocating peace can be achieved with superior force. You know the moral of SEED is supposed to be something along the lines of acceptance and tolerance? Everyone's equal and all that bullshit? He's pretty much sounding like the cartoony bad guys that Lacus and the heroes fought.

I remember my first time watching it. Watched it before the series afterwards. Felt like a religious experience, one I never felt when I rewatched it. That shit is trippy.

Edit: I finished the Phantom Blood arc of the JoJo anime. RIP Jonathon. I really like Joseph, seems like a fun protagonist.
