I finally got drunk and depressed enough to watch Bagi The Monster of Mighty Nature recently. Much to my surprise it was actually pretty good, especially for its age and the fact that its basically furry shit. Bagi having psionic powers was complete bullshit though.

To the uninitiated:

I really don't know how to feel about the way they gave Bagi a lot of realistic animal behaviors. It really teeters on the line of that "Danger Zone" meme about furry shit being a little too close to the way real animals act. I can excuse a lot of that stuff because I read Classic SF and that bullshit basically invented furries, but man there were some parts of this that were just straight-up uncomfortable. Still a decent movie, I'd have just played it up more as a horror piece if i was in charge of it.
Saw this one back in the early 2000's. It certainly has a plot you could follow through but does have the usual Osamu Tezuka quirks every so often. This film was originally produced for a charitable telethon that ran in Japan every year that Tezuka made these films for, and often the themes range anywhere from the environment to science and other themes. Another one that I've seen was "Marine Express", which I wanted to like a lot for the detective mystery/adventure it has for the first half but then goes into an environmental message for the last half mixed with time travel. Tezuka Pro. has uploaded these specials on YouTube currently, sadly they aren't English subtitled, though that would've been nice given they aren't region locked at present.

Oh and in case anyone cares to see the "Bagi" film, here you go too!

I found my copy on The Pirate Bay with literally one seeder, but it did have subtitles.

The movie's naysayers do have a point, the environmentalist message is really nonsensical and difficult to read compared to the rest of the film. I think the ending and the whole framing story was rushed all to hell. Though it also didn't have as depressing of an ending as I tought it was going to. Its probably enough to still make the average weeb cry like a bitch but I was expecting a much darker ending from the plot summaries I read up on. IE, watching Bagi's intelligence decay slowly instead of the big time skip the movie actually goes with.

I can see this movie being highly successful if they ever remade it and gave it a happier ending, but it'd probably be an ugly CGi shitfest so maybe its better if they leave it alone.

A lot of things Tezuka made should be left alone IMO.

Can't believe he said this, that's a heckin' yikes, chief.

He didn't, of course but he did create a WWII tank manga "Otto Carius: Tigers in the Mud" and is a full on military otaku

Latest chapter of Gate involves guerrilla fighters, I wonder what they're referencing here:

And I had to get this, the comments:

Oh and it looks like China is involved. This won't be controversial at all in light of today's, you know, right?

Isn't the other guy the one who made Evangelion?

Michael Lindsay passed away. Hes best known for roles like urahara on bleach, shinichero from code geass, and kankuro in Naruto.
(He reminds me of Wyatt Russell)

HOLY FUCKING SHIT NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

What the fuck, this universe hates Digimon fans. Michael had expressed disappointment they didn't consider calling him to see if he'd come back as Joe for tri because, well, he had retired. Well now my morning is ruined, dammit.

Thank you, Michael. You were a quiet soul in the sea of voice actors, but you played some truly amazing characters. I'll watch Marmalade Boy in your memory, that anime has been on my to-do list this year. :'(

Messed up that he died at 50 years of age. I never even notice he didn't appear in the film. That is a damn shame and now he'll never voice his character ever.

Dig the title of this one:

No it's not what you think.

Plot summary:

In a country that rejects magic, Mueller. Kate was working as a maid in the countryside. One day, a suspicious servant comes in to Dale M, the artist she works for...

I wonder if they will name another manga/manhwa the Hong Kong Protests. Or Mass Shooter,

I'm late and gay to the party, I know.
If anyone here has read Murciélago, what did you think of it?
I love it! Hot chicks, likable characters, yuri, decent plot, it has everything a true patrician can ask for. Except for an anime adaptation. (:_(

Most lovable mass murderer in manga.
Anime when?
Probably never. Given the amount of gore and explicit lesbian sex it's unlikely and who'd want to see it toned down anyway? The motion comic is right now the closest thing we'll ever get to an anime.

i love when top hero’s come to realize how completely outclassed they are by Saitama.

I always found it ironic that Miyazaki is a military otaku but who can blame him? Military shit is simply cool looking at the end of the day, it is what it is.

That's a shame, I was obsessed with Urahara and his bucket hat when I was 17, I thought he was the coolest looking character ever.

I really need to pick it back up then.

WataMote chapter 164 seems to be setting up the next major arc: Tomoko and most of the other girls are talking about going to a cram school summer camp where they'll all study for college entrance exams and sleep together.

Emoji wants it bad.

Unfortunately I have to be the one to report that Robert Axelrod, voice of Lord Zedd on Power Rangers and a stalwart of anime dubbing going back to the 80s, has passed away.

He hadn't been doing very well this past year. Someone had to set up a GoFundMe so he could pay his medical bills. At least he isn't suffering anymore...

That hits me, hits me pretty hard actually (although Lindsay's passing was more shocking). I figured we were going to lose him sooner than later, since he didn't look like he was doing too good, but he had a good long life. He's part of an era that is leaving us, though, he had that raw talent, that kind of rough but gentle voice that you just don't really get anymore, and he was super passionate about his work. But it sucks now because I was most looking forward to him reprising Armadillomon since the new Digimon movie's finally acknowledging the existence of the 02 kids. This universe is just cruel to us Digimon fans.

I'm sad I never got to meet you in person, Robert, but rest in peace, you deserve your rest. Thank you for everything.
