Not sure if anyone has seen let alone heard of these but i've got a few i cannot for the life of me find on DVD format.
Iria Vs. Zeiram - starts out kinda cheesy but gets dark, rather brutal and quickly. Its a short anime, 6 episodes long but worth every second. (fire the madoradins! civilian populace be damned!)
Galaxy Express 999 and the sequel Adieu galaxy express 999 - a classic
Kite - Great crime/action anime..starts out very brutal..some poor sap takes a double tap - thats maybe a minute or two in.
Mezzo Forte - crime with more comedy thrown in..still gets rather bloody at times.
Blue Gender - Big robots fighting monsters across earth from a virus. In either ep2 or 3 there is a giant robot that bears eggman's face. Still a good anime in my book.
Kikaider - android built in captivity, charged with saving creators family from an evil organization.

Preferred the movie tbh,

I once came across a copy at some rando comic book shop years ago still in its wrap that was the uncut version. Didn't pick it up because I hadn't watched it yet. Still debating with myself to ever get myself a copy now, but I do have Ninja Scroll so......

Have you tried Amazon or eBay? There's probably some sellers floating around. Otherwise, gotta get lucky at thrift stores.

I took a look at amazon...rentals mainly,a couple on blu ray but DVD was out of stock. At least i know amazon does carry them so my anime collection will grow with a few good classics.

I went to a biweekly anime meetup last Saturday and got my friend who was hosting it back into Wacky TV Nanana. Meanwhile, he got me into Senyu.

They don't show this opening on Crunchyroll, probably because it makes the show look far more serious than it actually is.

Just read the entirety of Koe no Katachi (A Silent Voice)

It's a manga about a deaf girl who went to a public elementary school and a boy who bullied her. It started off as a one-shot, but was then expanded upon to show what happened five years after the whole thing.

Very good manga I feel. It touches upon bullying, its effects on all the parties involved, how said parties changed over the years, and it doesn't really come off as super preachy either. It's definitely a recommended read. From what I read, there's also an anime in the works, so there's that to look forward to as well.

I just watched the anime the other day, and it was probably the best one I've seen in the last two years. I'm not a domestic stories sort of guy either, but it was just a really good film, good story, and a wonderful anime.
Solid 5 out of 5.

Hey guys, I was in Tokyo years ago and I bought this hentai animation cel because I thought it was funny.

Does anybody know what it's from? This would probably be something from the late 80s to the mid 90s.

Not able to help. It looks like an Urotsukidoji clone, but the art style isn't as good. It's a lot of option from that period as monster girl stuff was really popular.

You have a rather odd sense of humor ...

You could always try finding it on MAL, it might be listed on there (go to "Hentai" and sort by Start date https://myanimelist.net/anime.php)

Maybe the surprise twist is that it's not hentai, just a horror OVA. It kinda looks like it's from the 1989 The Guyver OVA?

oh fuck you might be right. That kinda looks like the girl from guyver. And I think that's a zoanoid? Then again that look was popular at the time.

I was thinking more along the lines of Dark Cat originally, though. I just checked, the girl who almost gets raped in the last OVA episode has shorter hair, and that's a different school uniform.

You've got a good point. A lot of mid 80s anime had a lot of sexually explicit content (when fan service was actual fan service) and monster girl stuff now that I think about it. It may very well just be a generic horror movie clone.
