They actually do have a union, but only a small smattering of farm studios (such as Anime R and Studio Live) really take part in it.

Vignette also does a Milky Peko-chan face in episode 9 of Gabriel Dropout.

Shame they never finished the manga. If you can find a copy, watch the movie after. It's a complete clusterfuck but it looks amazing.

I've seen the movies ages ago (was a pain in the ass at the time to find the dub then, for whatever reason people want to forget the dub exists?), and it's definitely a huge mess despite having one of the most beautiful art in animation ever (I'm at least proud of Madhouse for implementing that the best they can into the television series, so if nothing else, I really do like the animation). When it comes to Kanoe, I prefer Denica Fairman to Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, but eh.
I do have plans to go back to the movie when I finish the series to do a proper compare-contrast because I feel like a few characters were taken out of the film but I can't remember too well. Though if they were in the film, they definitely didn't have the focus they needed lol.

Man, movie X's animation was so good. I saw this short video and thought 'wow I have to find this'. I did a bit of reading on it so I wasn't totally confused while watching but I could also ignore what they were trying to do by cramming all of that into movie length. I'm hesitant about dipping into a series with major differences between versions but... it looks so cool and esoteric so should I give the TV anime and/or the manga a chance anyway?
And is anyone like me and feel spoilt by the visual quality of anime these days? I'm glad the technology has really come a long way and we're finally past the age of that weird 2000's garish colouring and powerpoint-tier frame rates. It's how I feel when "anime" meant noticing every special movie looked suspiciously better than the regular 10000+ episodes and filler. Now we've got people pulling sakuga out their asses and gradients in shading being the norm.

Honestly, I'm just taking it at face-value as is and see how it goes. I haven't really been a fan of CLAMP for years at this point, not since I realized they actually kinda suck at writing coherent stories but are just really good at tricking you into thinking it's good with bombastic art and composition. X is apparently one of their more complex stories to date from what I can tell, but it not having an ending because CLAMP refused to comply with their editors over a decade ago I think kinda kills the desire to look more into it past the anime at this point.
Not really. I'm just glad computers have allowed for more beautiful art to be made, 'cause I like my eye candy as much as the next guy. I do think it just goes to further prove that the more beautiful your art (and music) is, the more people excuse poor writing, and that's the kind of quality I'm not a fan of, but I'm all for more beautiful art.

What with media going tits up left right and center I'd be happy if somebody just wrote something "good" and not necessarily the best because these days it feels like everyone is tripping over themselves trying to write the next UNPREDICTABLE PLOT TWEEST and alienating their audience. CLAMP is too old for that but what I really mean is that I'm tired of "weird niche shit" and I'd even rather watch a basic baby's first Hero's Journey because that's downright refreshing at this point, well written of course.

CLAMP has good ideas, but execution gets muddled after a while, and X is one of those epics with a lot of characters and crazy shit going on. For whatever reason, they felt they needed a CLAMP-verse around Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles (maybe it was sooner than that), and I think that's fucked everything up. X I believe is one of those that got dragged into that black hole despite being incomplete.

Story-wise, the manga and anime are very similar for most of it, but both have material that the other lacks. The anime had to write its own ending and I think there was one last volume that got released after the anime was already out, or around that time, so there are some differences there (notably, Naraku was developed very differently between anime and manga). The art evolved a lot over the course of the manga, but each volume had a neat tarot card for each character (which look way better than the set they released as merchandize). It would be hard to recommend one over the other, if the manga weren't incomplete that is, so at best it's something you can dig into if you really enjoyed the anime.
If you happen to like Subaru and Seishiro, they also had their own manga (Tokyo Babylon) before X was even a thing, which is why they have such a far-reaching backstory compared to other characters, but you're not missing much if you just go by what X itself provides and it's extra gay.

Actor, Voice Actor Gabe Khouth Passes Away at 46
Actor played roles in Once Upon A Time live-action series, Dragon Ball Z, Gundam Seed anime
Gabe Khouth passed away while riding his motorcycle. He was in quite a few anime and was Samuel Vincent's brother. Peter Kelamis posted about it on Twitter.

So I've been regularly reading Beastars for half a year now, and I've gotta say I really like it a lot. I know it might look like furfaggorty to most of you, but believe me it's pretty damn good. It's pretty much all the manga I read nowadays next to JoJo, 20th Century Boys, Vinland Saga and The Promised Neverland.
A few days ago its upcoming Anime adaptation got a new trailer:
It's made by the same studio behind the Land of Lustrous adaptation, so it's heavily reliant on CGI. The coloring's wonderful and the models themselves look stunning, but the animation itself feels kinda clunky and robotic for the most part. I'll probably give it a shot once it's out, but I hope the animation will improve as it starts airing. Hopefully the anime will be able to capture the awesome imagery of the manga well, I especally love how creator and artist Paru Itagaki plays with distorted perspective in her compositions:

I think I'll take a look at this. It's rare to see kemono/furry shit that actually has a purpose besides satisfying the author's sexual perversions or random stylistic choice.
