Yeah, I honestly dropped the anime(which was my into to the series) after he killed the wife of the guy he killed while taunting her with his identity just before the effect kicked in. That’s when I was like “yeah, I can’t get behind this guy at all, fuck him”.

I know the show and manage are still good, but that scene really rubbed me the wrong way.

People forget Light crossed the moral event horizon pretty early into the series, like he for sure had completely lost his mind by the time he allowed his father to be killed, but that was pretty messed up. Makes for a cool thriller moment, but yeah, Light is a complete monster, but that gets the ladies hot and bothered for some reason.

Yeah, that's what I meant. That was at like the end of the first volume. I feel like they would have been better served making Light more sympathetic at first rather than him just going DEATH TO ALL WHO OPPOSE ME right off the bat.

I remember in one of the interviews they had in one of the volumes the author claimed Light cared about his family and was legitimately trying to save his sister which made me think they had no idea what the fuck they were doing because there is no doubt in my mind he would have killed her had he been given the opportunity.

It wasn’t even so much the death itself, just that he felt the need to rub it in the poor woman’s face that really made me instantly hate him.

Inspired by our own DDBCAE CBAADCBE I decided to watch Burst Angel.

It's not great, but not bad, overall pretty middle of the road but still strangely likable, it's very evocative of action shows of the 2000s, which gives it a nostalgic feel today.

It does have one of the better "beach episodes" I've seen, but one thing that kinda sucks is
the ending, especially since the OVA is a prequel and there was never a second season, so what the heck? Do Jo and Sei survive? That especially pisses me off about Sei as she was my fav.

Just finished Season 2 of Tokyo Ghoul (Root A). Jesus Christ was the ending heartbreaking.

Just seeing Kaneki encounter his friend Hide again, dying right before him made me want to bawl my eyes out. No friend wants to see that happen, and it's honestly one of the saddest scenes I've seen yet.

Just watched the entirety of Netflix's Saint Seiya, probably the second worst CGI anime there is. Still not quite Berserk 2016 but almost everything about it is terrible.

The attempts at modernizing SS are awful, the dialogue is beyond awful and so cheesy it could cause Adam West to develop lactose intolerance, the music is generic and forgettable to the point it might as well not be there. The animation is really bad, makes the RWBY fight scenes look like a masterpiece. Worst part is the whole thing is nonsensical and prone to contradicting itself, whether it is by flipping what little characterization there is or having everyone act like they're retarded to keep the plot moving in the dumbst direction. Only redeeming quality is that if you're drunk and have friends to spare then watching it can get really amusing.

I started watching X today, so I know I'm in for one hell of a ride, but I honestly completely forgot just how old this series is. The animation is pretty top-notch, I thought it was a few years older than it actually is. Like damn, is it any wonder why Madhouse has the reputation it does? Anime they made twenty-plus years ago still look absolutely stunning.

Was X also one of the last titles Geneon picked up under its Pioneer name? Just wondering, I don't know when they dropped the Pioneer name.

Yeah, it's definitely not the best show out there by a long shot but for it's time it was a big deal. It also has a prequel manga that goes more into Meg and Jo's relationship and how they met Sei.
While it's never explicitly said, I believe Jo at least survived considering the positioning of her scarf on the rubble almost as it were tied there. At least that's my theory. Though she also kinda shows up in the director's special where Meg is piloting Jango, though it's just a song played over clips of the character's doing stuff in the future. Anyways during the special she's on the moon apparently with the other Genocide Angel chick.

But what about Sei and her big ole Chinese dumplings?

Oh, that's good.
If anything it's much easier to argue that Jo is dead since she doesn't interact with Meg or the rest of the crew in the special. Now what you need to do is watch the secret commentary track for the beach episode. To this day any time I'm feeling depressed I go and watch it for a good laugh. The other commentary tracks are pretty great too. Honestly, half the fun for me is listening to the ADR director explain how he touched up everything and put filters on voices. It adds a whole new layer to the show on subsequent viewings.

I bought one of the dvds just for the beach episode commentary.

Mike McFarlen though is fucking amazing.

I really liked his character, Leo, too and it's hilarious how when most of the ladies are wearing revealing swimwear, he's right there with them wearing a revealing speedo that shows his "happy trail" lmao.

Greg Ayres' character was pretty pointless and it's funny how despite starting off ostensibly the protagonist, he's relegated to only a cameo in the final episode, I would liked to have seen more Leo, he was really the only male character the series needed.

It's a shame Gonzo is pretty much a "in name only" work for hire studio these days, with any sort of distinctiveness lost, much like Gainax, as they were pretty interesting for a while there.

Ironically the Netflix adaption does that and really ramps up Misa's evilness.

Also sad but expected that the Netflix Saint Seiya series is dogshit western writing is currently in the shitter.

Her ambiguous fate in the end was another thing I didn't really like given just how big of a role she played in Light's genocide games.
Retardation only excuses so much

I still haven't watched my copy of the 2nd DVD that I bought years ago.

Saw all of High Score Girl the other week. Pretty cute show. Season 2's confirmed for October, which i'm pretty excited for.
It's hard to sit down and get into a show for me, but marathoning something like this always feels nice.

I'm halfway on it, is fun how the series is practically 12 episodes promoting the Turbo and Street fighter 2
