What's the best streaming site? Been watching Dragon Ball Z on gogoanime, but it's a malware wasteland.

Finally Saint Seiya Netflix was released and by the god emperor what a fucking shit show it is mind you i have not watched it completely yet because im downloading theNetflix JP rip and for good reasons that i'm going to list, i have watched bits of it on a private stream on discord but my internet keeps dying and can barely watch it

1) First of all is only 6 episodes, this come from a rumor that after the horrible reception it had Toei put the plug on it and let the director (that was kicked to oblivion from Twitter) take the blame

2) The subs are inconsistent at best and outright terrible at worse, if you read the English script they change tons of names for no reason at all, also they practically spoil you some parts of the Hades saga and asspull shit like Seiya sister having Cosmo and this is barely in the first episode

3) The latin american dub is so hilarious terrible and bad that has become the stuff of legends, there is a part were you can literally hear the guy that voice Seiya flipping through the script and kneeling to the microphone, his performance is outright horrendous with a heavy mexican accent and a monotonous boring tone because he is not a voice actor

Cowboy Bebop worth a watch? Faye in it a lot?
I'm not big on space stuff but I've heard its basically Western/Lupin but in space
Do you like Firefly? Cowboy Bebop feels a little like it was set in that universe, only it would be focused on the inner planets instead of the outer rim, where most of Firefly takes place.

The whole thing looked like a shitshow when the first trailer dropped, then the whole controversy with Shun's gender change happened and I knew it was going to be one of Netflix's worst, well, anything (that doesn't have the name Adam Sandler in it).

Nice to see I'm not wrong on that assumption. That it was cut in half from its original run of 12 episodes sounds like it's got an interesting story behind it, anyways.

The guy was promising that they were even going to cover the Sanctuary arc but apparently it was cut just right after the pseudo Phoenix Ikki saga because im not shitting you the enemy this time is .... Diamond Dogs or something, is Saint vs Full armored soldiers there are other stupid things like Seiya doesnt train in Greece like in the original, he trains in a island in bumfuck nowhere and he doesnt do it since he was a child, he just end there after DD tried to kill him, Mitsumasa Kido is alive, and the most stupid one, the Ryuseiken sounds like a Gattling gun

The good point is that the japanese dub is consistent because almost all the voices came directly from Saintia sho, so is more tolerable

Huh. At least we know that America still can't do Saint Seiya without fucking things over in major ways (looking at you, DiC...)

I forgot to ask this in my last post, but are you sure it was director Yoshiharu Ashino that was kicked off twitter? I kept hearing it was another guy that was getting assmad over that site, one of the writers if I recall.

Sorry it was not the director, the guy, Eugene son was supposed to be a producer but in the credits he appear as Story editor, now he must be hiding because in his tweets (now deleted) he promised that he was not going to change to much, motherfucker in what version of Saint Seiya you saw a Golden Saint tearing a Helicopter apart ?

Edit: Watching the english dub because i deleted in rage the original files, Saori is called Sienna for some stupid reason "not going to change anything" my ass

Edit 2: dragged my sorry ass to watch it entirely, oh my god is more horrible than i thought

1) The Galaxian wars pass from a all around Wrestlemania with PPV to a secret tournament in the middle of a desert for no reason at all

2) Shaun (female Andromeda) is mostly the same as his male counterpart but her tone is "ok you are mostly guys so why are you even fighting? there is a point or what"? the guys try to downplay her in a very dumb way to prevent sexism

3) The series dont know who the actual fuck the enemies are, you get the Sanctuary that want to kill Athena because there is a prophecy that she is going to lose in the war vs Hades and Poseidon, then you have the Diamond Dogs (they have a name but is to ridiculous to remember) that want to fight the gods without the help of the Saints and want to kill Athena to prevent the prophecy, in the end you dont know where the fuck they are going with this

4) The fight vs Dragon is the most stupid one, in the original it was a bloody battle to the death that destroyed Pegasus and Dragon armor they remove them and begin a fist fight to the point that Seiya manage to kill momentarily Shiryu, it was as gory as the 90's allowed, then you get the Netflix version were Seiya manage to beat him by shooting Ryuseiken several times, yeah thats it he just Gatling gun him to death

5) The fight between Andromeda and Unicorn end in a flash, they really REALLY try to put Andromeda as a super mary sue, i know he is super strong in the original but not at this point in time

6) Cosmos is outright downgraded to stupid levels, in the original series it was a power that could burn people that were not saint by merely touching the Armour (it burned at almost 1000 c° even when a Saint was not using his cosmo), they could reverse the flow of a cascade and obliterate the floor with a punch, then you get the Netflix version were they struggle again normal soldiers, it require SEVERAL punches of the Ryuseiken to barely knock out a Helicopter, we are talking about a flurry of super punches that goes faster than the speed of sound and later faster than the speed of light and it can't take down a freaking helicopter

7) The black saints are back but in this series they are guys using mass produced armors created using the data of the Sagittarius golden armor in the original they were just cheap copies of the original bronze saints with their same attacks and everything, granted this is not new, back in the day Toei wanted to sell more toys and introduced the Saints of Steel, man produced Saints that followed the training of the originals and had man made armors but because they did not have a guardian constellation could not use cosmos, they were pretty much obliterated earlier and forgotten. Then we go to the Netflix version were the idiocy went to incredible degrees, not only the armors give the wearer the power of using Cosmos, a thing that ONLY Saints/Marines/Spectres could do, now every person that have a mass produced armor can use Cosmos attacks, not only that they can also absorb cosmos attacks throwed at them, they even gave Cassios a character that pretty much only value in the manga was being beaten by Seiya for the Pegasus armor and later did a heroic sacrifice to help him in the sanctuary arc a Ryuseiken, yeah the attack that is exclusive to Pegasus/Equuleus? now everyone and their grandmother can use it

tl;dctra is heresy again the sacred religion of Mexico

I think they're setting up Seika=Marin. I know that they are separate characters in the manga, but I think that's what will happen. All female saints are supposed to be masked in the original series. But in this version none of them are except for, conspicuously, Marin.

If the credits are to be believed, Americans wrote this show. I don't know why American writers are so joyless and always have to have weird military intrigue and some evil general. I don't remember this Guraad guy from the anime... I think they just made him up. It was annoying how he and his dumbass soldiers kept distracting from the plot and ate up screentime. Oh, and a talking manhole cover is now a character I guess.

The characters' lips are synched to the English language dialogue. I couldn't stand having all the characters having the wrong names, so I switched to the Japanese "dub". The even got a handful of the seiyu back from the 80s series. But the subtitles are just the dialogue from the English version and doesn't represent the what the Japanese dialogue is saying.

EDIT: Oh, and we still don't have the original 80s TV anime in the US for some reason. They tried releasing it in the 90s and gave up 1/3 of the way through. There aren't even any fansubs that I'm aware of except for some shitty Hong Kong Engrish ones.

At least part of the unmasked female saints thing is because of Shun's changed gender, and they never bothered to do anything about it design-wise save for the haircut and lower lip. To fuck if I know why, probably just lazy animators knowing Toei.

I don't remember this Guraad guy from the anime..

He is exclusive of the Netflix series, in the original normal persons barely appeared at all

Wind blows, rain falls, and Saint Seiya keeps getting awful spin-offs because Kurumada couldn't give less fucks. Not surprised really.

He also has the stigma of killing lost canvas because apparently he was jealous of the success the anime had , instead he decided to declare it non canon and make his own version that he make at snail pace

All female saints are supposed to be masked in the original series

To kurumada defense he has been wanting for years to remove that rule , Omega pretty much obliterated the rule from orbit and thank God because it was dumb as hell

If the credits are to be believed, Americans wrote this show

Pretty much all the plot was made by Americans and if you believe the rumors Toei bitched a lot about the changes but let it pass because they did not give a shit, you know you have fucked it bad when you manage to unite Latin American , Europe and Japan in sheer hate , yeah even the Japanese believe the entire series is stupid and even vindicate omega in the great scheme of things

I know it’s a few hours late but since it was the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing here’s a clip from the anime Gatekeepers presenting the moon landing in anime form with the actual voices:

I finally got around to watching the Death Note anime. Ryuk is my favorite character, L is second.

People seem to compare it to Code Geass, but Death Note has a more coherent plot (even with its flaws).

General consensus with DN is it drops in the second half (ie, the timeskip after L is kill). It was a decent manga but there was a lot of stuff that they could have done better (the speed at which Light started mowing down innocents was always a personal gripe, I feel they could have done a better job setting him up as someone you might be able to root for at the start and then of course the aforementioned spoiler).

I will say they did a fantastic job setting up the final confrontation. You have no idea how whose going to win and it's tense as hell. They really nailed that bit.

I honestly enjoyed both parts. I felt that Light should have at least been written a bit more sympathetic (at least in the anime, I should probably read the manga. I had the first two volumes, but they're long lost now). At least in Code Geass, Lelouch was a lot more human and was willing to do almost anything to achieve his goals even if he died in the process. Light was a complete coward at the very end and I hardly have sympathy for him. But he was still a great character.

Yeah, I honestly dropped the anime(which was my into to the series) after he killed the wife of the guy he killed while taunting her with his identity just before the effect kicked in. That’s when I was like “yeah, I can’t get behind this guy at all, fuck him”.

I know the show and manage are still good, but that scene really rubbed me the wrong way.
