That's because the original dub they made was too different to the source material that all the EvaGeeks rose up in retaliation, wasn't it? I've only seen 3.0 in subs twice, need to get around to watching the dub.

Purportedly, it's because they overplayed KawoShin, and someone from Khara who was there for the screening of the original dub was horrified people were laughing and having fun at the screening with every double entendre Shinji and Kaworu shot at each other.

If there are any fans of Puella Magi Madoka Magica out there, the mobile game Magia Record just got an English release and it's free to play (unfortunately, it's locked in North America so if you live elsewhere you need to use a VPN to get it). It's a lot of fun so far, plus it introduced a hell of a lot of cute magical girls.
 
Damn, now that Shield Hero is over I got one less show to watch. Was a nice series though. I'm a little disappointed in One Punch man season 2s animation, but I like what they've done with the series overall. I think the one thing about One Punch Man season 2 that I appreciate the most is how the world itself is going through a lot of changes around Saitama, and he's too busy trying to find a way to grow as a hero since he peaked.

The newer characters, the monster organization, and Garou as an antithesis of Saitama has been a lot of fun to watch. Its interesting watching the world of this anime change because so few anime and manga series actually do this or go beyond the bare minimum.

I think One as a writer really excels at this.

Like, season 2 of OPM had some things going for it, like what you said, but the presentation of Season 1's visual aspect helped to elevate it and was a huge part of what made the series successful alongside the characters. Take that away and you lose one of the key components as to what made the show good in the first place. Yeah, the characters are still fine, but half of them are either in a mediocre tournament or drop out of the story completely, all the while the only animators giving any shits are being dragged down by the rest of J.C. Staff's own mediocrity.

And the misuse of established characters and half assed animation are going to be the sorest points when people talk about Season 2 now that it's all over and done with.

I started reading it after someone mentioned it in the thread and it's amazing from what I've seen so far. Less pretentious D. Gray-man with relatable characters and the art is easy on the eyes. It's definitely gonna pick up popularity.

Hello, /r/evangelion,
I'm a Netflix subscriber since the day 1 and I know this is not the first time they take a hugely popular show and make a (questionable) new adaptation. But this, ladies and gentlemen, is really over the top. We survived asshole politicians and economic crisis, but people are gonna riot for an anime adaptation. Fans are flooding Netflix Italy Facebook and Twitter pages with jokes, memes and insults and crying their grief all over the internets.
Little foreword: along with French and Spanish fellows we are the country that dubs the highest number of foreign media per year. If you consider the total number of speakers, Italy probably ranks #1 in the world for number of dubbed media per capita. We're also used to top tier quality, because of the long voice acting tradition, and even if we could probably watch The Simpsons, or Scrubs, or any anime with subtitles, we're used to hear Homer, or JD, or Shinji speak our own language. Which as you know is really cool (except when the adaptation or the acting suck).
So, here we go: we had a perfect adaptation with a top tier voice acting, but Netflix just changed everything for the future generations of streaming-only watchers. Not only the overall quality is lower (which is just incredible, if you think how much money Netflix can spend compared with the little distributors of the 90s), but they also entrusted the adaptation to a guy who is really well known for his choices of very archaic wording and weird translations. Which could work well in a middle ages-like fantasy world (Like Kiki Delivery Service, for instance). But the guy clearly can't do otherwise and Netflix didn't care enough to double check if he did a good job. Or, even worse, they checked and gladly endorsed this new adaptation insult to the fans.
So, here's what we have now. I just wanna list 4 main things, but I swear they're enough:
• A post-apocalyptic futuristic world has now people who speak like late XIX century countrymen. This is the most difficult to explain, but trust me: it sucks. I looked throughout thousand of comments on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and forums with good faith and willing to find a single person who appreciates the new translation, but I simply couldn't.
• Angels are now called APOSTLES. Holy shit, WHY. Also, can you see the criminal intent here? Apostles were 12, Angels 17; you had one job. I know, the literal meaning of 使徒 (shitō) is apostle, but the international version curated by Anno himself has been very well established for over two decades so they are definitely Angels (Angeli in Italian). But apparently they didn't care.
• EVA Units are now called with ordinal numbers: even worse, numeral and noun are swapped, so no more Unit 01, now it's something that in English might sound like Unit First (again: WHY in the world you would choose something so degenerate).
• Names and surnames are now swapped. They do that way in Japan, I know, but what's the meaning of adaptation then? It just sounds weird if you call a person by their family name first in Italian.
I wanted to find some more examples (there are plenty), but those new dialogues are too painful to hear.
May the anime gods forgive Netflix for its sins.

It's a travesty and a shame.
The main problem is that they (he, Cannarsi) kept the Japanese speech construction instead of using the Italian one (or at least some that is still in use today).
So, to make an example, instead of the English SVOMPT (subject verb object ecc...), a phrase would look like "don't please you tell these things cruel me to", which doesn't make ANY sense.
Sometimes is clear that even the voice actors don't know how to correctly say the lines, they hesitate and stutter a bit, and loose the rhythm.
He also imposed very long and verbose sentences, without subject, sometimes object, with useless arcaisms, in an already complex anime.
Unfortunately it's all untranslatable, but an example is "war was done so clearly in view, that it was inside the city". Another is the start, when Misato confronts Shinji after her car is toppled: "M: are you all right? S: Yes. Although I have something crunching in my mouth M: Which is awesome" WHY? Just why would it be awesome?
Really, if you understand a little of Italian, just try ro watch it. You won't understand a thing, and that would explain to you the quality of the adaptation.
TL;DR: consider yourselves lucky, the Italian version cannot be enjoyed in the very least.
(English is not my native language, as I'm Italian, so please forgive any mistake I made)
