Does anyone here know anything about The Promised Neverland? I just watched the first episode, and while the premise and the episode itself were pretty solid, I am wary about being tricked into watch a show that's nothing like it's opening episode makes it out to be ala Goblin Slayer.

I read the manga and it was pretty good for the first story arc, but kinda lost me after that.

Yeah, I watched the first episode of Promised Neverland and am relieved that the twist is in the first episode. They don't beat around the bush at all. There's a lot of obvious foreshadowing that something is very amiss in the first half of the first episode, unlike Gakkou Gurashi!/School Live! where it's very easy to miss the cracked windows until the big reveal unless you already know the twist and are specifically looking for them.

Speaking of, I'm sort of surprised GAkkou Gurashi's manga is still going. Unless it's going for some metaphor about high school > university > job > dying or whatever like some people were arguing, I have absolutely no idea what it's trying to do anymore.

Not that it matters or is surprising, but I'm always a bit irked when a project done because the creative team wants to make it gets so heavy-handed with the legal side of things.

the manga is actually ending soon.

So I'm watching Stan Lee's The Reflection. And, um.... maybe it's because I'm not a comic book reader, but I'm lost as fuck. Something's not right about this anime, like it's super clunky and ugly to boot. The dub's kind of terrible, too, dialogue's really funky. Also the ED's out-of-place, I swear.

Has anyone else watched this?

HOLYSHIT THIS SERIES.

Never before have I wanted to punch an author so badly over something so exceptional.

Aaaaaand the series is now finally over.
10 total chapters, with a very typical non-ending to this terrible "romcom."

Fuck this author. I never expected nor considered the series to be amazing, but holy shit. I've never seen a mangaka that would pull this kind of shit toward his readers.

*Then again, fuck these publishers as well for letting him pull this shit.

EDIT: Golden comment reacting to the very last page:
"Please look forward to the next work"

So do you guys have any good anime and manga recommendations for action? Also is it worth it to go through evangelion?

Only recommendation for action anime I got off the top of my head is Ninja Scroll. Basically as long as it's got manly men somewhere on the cover/in the cast, there's bound to be some kind of action. As for Eva...

If you want to know what the hubbub's all about, might as well.

If you want to know the history of anime and see how it forever changed anime and why no one's ever come close these last 20 years, yes.

If you want to form your own opinion at the risk of pissing someone off just for breathing, yes.

If you feel you're just going to get pissed off by it in some form or another........

......get hammered with friends and just have fun with it. Bonus points if your friends have never seen it either, therefore you can all react to the same thing and have yourselves a heated conversation ranging from why Asuka was such a cunt that she deserved what was coming to her, to why SEELE was in the right all along and let's just all become one forever and ever and ever even if we hate each others' guts right now.

Something like that.

Decided to rewatch Cromartie High School after starting another short comedy anime. Damn, do I love this show and it’s dub.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure if you like big manly men engaging in over the top fights with awesomely hammy dialogue and a ton of music references. Plot is very focused and not overly long like a lot of Shonen anime (though Jojo is somewhat Seinen lite at parts, later on it became full Seinen but that hasn't been adapted yet).

And even when the manly men became more skinny (Araki's art style changed to a sorta male model look which you may love or hate) it's still got great characters and amazing villains, like Kira Yoshikage (who is literally David Bowie).

Darwin's Game I find to be a fantastic manga. Has a perfect blend of action and strategizing mixed together with sci-fi and small bits of horror. The horror isn't as prevalent after a while, but in the beginning, there are some really solid moments of just pure dread.

It's especially fun with how characters can't always rely on their powers, so they have to use both their weapons and wits for survival.

Believe it or not, the guy being attacked by the panda mascot and the guy lifting the barbell are the same guy. Goes to show how not only the art improved dramatically, but the protagonist even improves himself as the series progresses.

LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT WORK BY RAMUNEMURA SHUWATA!

the size of his fucking balls to write that...

People either hate or love evangelion, there seems to be no middle ground. There's a number of flaws to it, but depending on how much the show sucks you in, you ignore them or they eat you up.
I personally love it, tbh.

Since many shows tried to copy the formula one way or the other, many groundbreaking ideas or subversions of the genre aren't as special as they used to be, so from a modern POV, it's sometimes hard to understand what makes this so special (sort of like some of the iconic action movies of the 80s and 90s that have been copied so much, they barely stand out anymore - not for a lack of quality but rather that you've seen that stuff so often that it's not special anymore, even when you see where it originates from).

However NGE is considered one of the most influential Anime of all time and the single most influential in the past 30 years or so.
It might also be sort of hard to watch this show, going in with big expectations...

But I would recommend it, if only so you know what the fuss is all about.
I would just warn you that the tone of the show changes dramatically by the 14th episode. It starts out rather tame and almost light-hearted but in Episode 14, the show suddenly shifts and shit just hits the fan. Also, the story and its presentation is a bit cryptic, since it leaves a lot open for the viewer to piece together.

What am I watching and what is Kamina doing there?

The Kamina thing was pretty much my first thought too. Specifically “Why is Kamina fighting a corrupted EVA in a robot suit that kinda looks like one of the outfits from Kill la Kill?”

Mind you, I didn’t think any part of that was bad....

I fucking can't wait to see Promare on the big screen (they better be releasing it to theaters). That's going to look amazing even with all the (inevitable) squealing fangirls.

I’ve been catching up to Black Clover anime, though I wasn’t a huge fan when it started airing a year or so ago. But I started to read the manga and got caught up in a few days. It isn’t amazing and is a pretty basic Shonen series, but it’s really fun to read and watch. The character designs are top tier and some of the fights are pretty interesting. I’d definitely read a bit of it before watching because the pacing at the start of the anime is pretty terrible.
