I say sorry in advance for linking to a shitty clickbait-news website like Sankaku, but it's faster than reposting all the screenshots from there:

https://www.sankakucomplex.com/2018...e-rape-censorship-triggers-the-internet/?pg=X

The author of SAO may be an incompetent at writing villains without making them rapists, but this is the second time in a row this year that there is outrage about this stuff, has it always been like this in the anime community or is it a recent years thing?

People is still surprised that Reki can't write for shit? And is hilarious that people is getting outraged at this point when alicization has been translated FOR YEARS , if you are this much of a lazy fuck to read you deserve to get angry I mean people already knew what happened in that scene and why it happens

I don't think Netflix is re-adapting Saint Seiya to make it popular in the United States of America, I think they're doing it more to increase the number of Netflix subscribers in Latin America as well as those parts of Europe and Asia where the old anime was popular. I don't think it's a property Netfilx would touch if they only had the USA in mind or even the USA plus Japan, since Japan already has a version made in their native language and probably would see a foreign adaptation as inferior.

Whether the legendary Latin American fanbase of Saint Seiya will be happy with the genderbending of Andromeda Shun is another question entirely.

They aren't. The guy had to delete his Twitter because the entirety of Latin America wanted to fucking murder him. He turned on Google Translate, promptly panicked and deleted fucking everything. This will approximately garner 0 Netflix subs in Latin America and will only cement them further as 'get woke, go broke' with terrible, terrible anime adaptions.

Latin Americans sure do take Saint Seiya seriously.

I remember Anime News Network had to lock every old forum thread about Saint Seiya just because fans who seemed to come from that general area of the world kept on necroposting old Saint Seiya threads especially in regards to DiC's botched Knights of the Zodiac dub (years after it went off the air) as well as taking issue with any perceived slight to the show whether it was from a writer on the site or just any random forum member.

I admire their passion for the show even if I never could get into it myself.

Welp, with what this fellow says, combined with the death of the author I guess Highschool of the Dead is dead after all:

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/in...ays-its-not-easy-to-draw-continuation/.140602

In an interview with Japanese pop culture website Comic Natalie, Highschool of the Dead and Triage X manga artist Shoji Sato said that it is "not easy" to draw a continuation for Highschool of the Dead, which went on hiatus in 2011 (although a new chapter did debut in 2013). Sato only drew the artwork and did not write the story.

Series writer Daisuke Satō passed away in 2017 due to ischemic heart disease. His illness had been the cause of the manga's hiatus. Shoji Sato mentioned that he often gets comments from overseas fans who are not familiar with the situation, telling him to continue the series, and said that "although it pains my heart, too, that the series went on hiatus, just thinking about Daisuke Satō makes me think that I cannot carelessly get involved in [Highschool of the Dead]."

Triage X editor Kawanakajima (not his real name) said that, realistically speaking, there is nobody in the world who could inherit Daisuke Satō's vision and continue the story he would have wanted to tell. They would need somebody who both knew Daisuke Satō's plans for the rest of the series and had the storytelling abilities to execute them properly.

Kawanakajima also said: "It's common overseas for comics and novels to be created by multiple collaborators. For example, the person who first wrote the Perry Rhodan novels has passed away, but the next generation of authors are continuing it. But for Highschool of the Dead, [Daisuke Satō] was the one and only, so I'd like overseas fans to understand that nobody else could write it easily."

Although he feels that he cannot draw more of Highschool of the Dead, Shoji Sato said that he would like to channel some of the series' appeal into his current work Triage X. For example, volume 14 contains a story reminiscent of a zombie apocalypse. Sato said that he would like to make the story and art even more dramatic and ostentatious than Highschool of the Dead.

Highschool of the Dead first began serialization in Fujimi Shobo's Monthly Dragon Age in 2006. It was adapted into a popular TV anime by Madhouse in 2010. Triage X began serialization in Monthly Dragon Age in 2009, and was adapted into a TV anime by Xebec in 2015. In 2017, Shoji Sato began collaborating with Trinity Seven writer Kenji Saito to draw a new manga called God Shining Moonlight Howling Moon published in Bessatsu Dragon Age.

I mean, they were showing the last few episodes of Super out in public with tons and tons of people out late at night watching it together. So I can believe they’d care this much.

You know you have hit rock bottom when even Italy,France and Japan are celebrating your demise, not even that cancer called r/anime liked the change, it was that bad

Edit: Hell is going to freeze tomorrow, not even Kotaku is defending it

I just noticed MyAnimeList has an entry for it, but the discussion board is eerily silent, unless MAL mods had recently cleaned it up. Even checked that bottom topic, nothing about the current shitstorm. Most of it was about lamenting the fact Toei doesn't give a shit about the franchise anymore.

Maybe I'm not looking in the right place, but MAL doesn't seem to have noticed/cared about it. Not sure if I should be impressed.

Just wait until it appears on Netflix then you are going to see reviews shitting on it

One of the things that surprise me is that not even the wokest of woke in the fandom and I mean the filth of the filth are not even defending this they are genuinely pissed off at Eugene for simply erasing Shun for brownie points , Shun was the feminine but badass guy that did not like to fight , his armor was pink , but in time of need he get shit done, by erasing him Eugene opened a Pandora box in the way of "if it look like a girl, let's make him a girl" in the logic of those people it practically was translated as " if it looks gay then let's make him a girl boom done progress!!" For that he was called a transphobe so he bailed out

It did not help that his idea was pretty much killed by Japan by releasing Saintia sho that was what he wanted to do

Checked out Tumblr very quick, but most of the posts were in Spanish and Portuguese so maybe they were the salty posts. So I pulled these instead:

Well what was he expecting? Everyone to pat him on the back like 'oh good job so woke uwu'? If they did any research on the show before they remade it (which I assume they must have done) They'd know that it has a die hard South American fanbase who'd tear it to shreds if they made dumb arbitrary changes. It was a monumentally stupid decision to change Shun and the backlash was obvious. Play stupid games, etc.

Hey now, 75% of anime men are feminine to the extreme and can be mistaken for a flat girl if you take your glasses off.

Of course, there are exceptions.

Hey now, 75% of anime men are feminine to the extreme and can be mistaken for a flat girl if you take your glasses off.

Now yes, but in the 80, People like Shun where a rarity, a man that looks like a girl that could whoop ass, take one for the team and get shit done and did not need to have a label to be relevant, now well, you get people lusting for the boypussy of the season like its something completely normal, and we have to thank the old gods for japan not ruining the remake of Captain Tsubasa, that is one the holy trinity of anime that people hold dear here.

One of the things that almost bothered me every season of Saint Seiya is how Kurumada practically refuse to let Athena fight, it was not until the end of Hades-Beginning of Next dimension where she actually get shit done (she even has a whooping ass cloth aka armor), in almost all the arcs she is always the damsel in distress (Sanctuary Arc, Poseidon Arc), the one holding the line to gain time for her Saints to get shit done (Asgard arc), Taking one for the team to play 4D Chess with death (Hades Arc) or Damsel trying to get her boyfriend back (Next Dimension), even when in lore she is supposed to be the Goddess of War that could wreck people and be a bad-ass commander

Little trivia: it is hinted that Toei changed shitload of things of Saint Seiya Omega because in the first arc the Myth Boxes (Huge boxes where Saints put their armors when they are not using it) was replaced by gay ass crystals so every time Saints put their armors it looked very Precure, after the huge backlash from every nation to the south of Texas, the myth box were back and people stopped bitching about it

What is even going on in the Attack on Titan manga anymore.

Game of Thrones r.etard.ation, bad writing, everyone has a secret plan that nobody can make any sense of because it's so fucking stupid. Whatever is going to happen is going to be dumber than anyone can imagine.

Why he went from Titans to shitty political intrigue is beyond me. I am actually tired of this Game of Thrones shit with everything nowadays.

I honestly don't care about any character anymore because there is 0 insight into most of their motivations and it's all 'speculation'. It was fine when it was Erwin who was the only one who had all the secret plans but now it seems every character has one and there are no hints of anyone's motives. So you're basically just waiting to be told what is happening. It's all plot and no characterization because we have no insight into them.
