How big was Saint Seiya in the States, anyway, that it needed an Americanized reboot in the same vein as Voltron? What was even the point?

I recall it appeared on American TV for a while as Knights of the Zodiac but it never seemed to really make a big impact here. Which makes me wonder why the hell they're doing this in America to begin with.

That is rather surprising to say the least.

I think Mexico is going to make this a international incident

In other news there are more heresies coming from Chinaguy by naming the mountains from where Dragon trains (and is the name of all of his attacks) Shen long... yeah the name of the Dragon in Dragon Ball Z so instead of Rozan Shoryuha is now Shen long Shoryuha

The chinaguy is apparently innocent of changing the names of everyone, that was Toei because they wanted to make it more "international"

There are rumours from weebland that the reason there is still not a japanese dub for the trailer is because the rape to the lore is so monumental that some seiyuus are arguing about it, the more hilarious is the rumour about no one wanting to take the role of Shun because they are going to be assblasted by the fandom (there are cases, and japs are very nasty in this regard)

Also there are accusations of nepotism against Netflix LA because they put a unlikeable twat that appears in a couple of series as Seiya, a person with absolutely no experience in voice acting

Well, it's apparently just the Shoryu part that gets changed into Shen Long [the mountain range is Liu Xan or something].

It's still stupid.

From an outsider's point-of-view, this just looks like it was done by someone who didn't like the idea of a man wearing pink armor and wanted to make him a girl to avoid some "unfortunate pitfalls". :story:

(Seriously am taking this as a sign that I need to start watching Saint Seiya ASAP.)

So whoever's in charge of this decided to spontaneously turn one of the guys into a girl, because nowadays you can't have a team of guys without a girl and not be a political movement.

Not even feminists liked the change though, it seems.
Well that's because it's one less guy to ship with the others.

As for who to blame you got one of three possibilities- The director, Yoshiharu Ashino; Netflix; or Toei themselves. And from the looks of it, Toei's gonna take the brunt of the blame.

All female initial D and akagi when?
There was a female Initial D-like Manga called OverRev produced once upon a time. But somehow, I don't think they'll ever make an all-female version of the D (outside of Extra Stage but that doesn't really count).

You should. I mean, it's kind of a bloody mess with lots of pseudo-homosexual sausage fests punching each other into walls and pillars at the speed of light, but it's good for a late 1980s kiddy show. And it even has a gay scene to boot!

Or if you want to watch it in newer, better animation, there's the spin-off that's coming out soon, Saintia Sho. It's showing a different side of the storyline, with a cast of girls who serve as Athena's handmaidens [and also punch people in the face].

On this one, it's actually on the American side. Some guy who did post online on Twitter [Eugene Son, a koreanard, @eugeneson] assumed full responsibility and even said that Toei wasn't sure enough and that this was possibly a slap to their face as well.

If that's how he really feels, why did he go ahead with this stupidity anyway?

I'm going to have to say that since this is an American co-production, that the series isn't well known there and don't feel the need to pander that much to the existing audience. And use the guise of "it's a re-imagining" to pass the change off even though all the previous re-imaginings kept the main party as all-male.

He explained it in its stupid ass rant it resumes of "A group of dudes saving the world is sooooo 80, you need to get with the times so Shun is a woman because he was one in my fanfiction that i pulled of my ass by reading the Wikipedia article"

Meanwhile all of Latin america and Spain want to burn him in at the stake

And the japs are pissed off because Saint Seiya doesnt have a Japanese dub, the trailer in Netflix JP was just a slap to the face

Comes full circle I guess.

Took a look at the comments in that Japanese trailer.

A great deal went 'this is stupid because Shun shouldn't be a girl' and 'fucking PoliCore' [AKA "political correctness"].

I say sorry in advance for linking to a shitty clickbait-news website like Sankaku, but it's faster than reposting all the screenshots from there:

The author of SAO may be an incompetent at writing villains without making them rapists, but this is the second time in a row this year that there is outrage about this stuff, has it always been like this in the anime community or is it a recent years thing?

This is the only image I could find, so forgive me for the shitty quality, I searched for a better non cropped picture:

Rwby: Don't talk to me or my wife's son ever again, brought to you by this very amused redneck squid's shitty lack of art skills!

The kid is a boy and clearly not white, so this is clearly a case of my wife's son and not some dickgirl shenanigans.

Two scoops of Weiss cream.

(This is just what I found on the net. I knew it would be there.)
Will this newfound couple start to literally shake thanks to Corporate Daddy? Only the future will tell, but it would be hilarious if they would.

Is it just me, or was a punk animu girl made into a goth one here by the way? Black and red theme for clothes and hair, check, giant silly red melee weapon, check, dead parent, check.

I guess outfits totally not suited for combat are an anime standard, and thus basic issue.

Or are just anime girls all looking alike? I need a professional weeb to investigate this.

.... we also need NPC representation in anime. It would be glorious.

Rewatching G Gundam and fuck lmao never realized how overly dramatic every line is. When I saw it as a kid it was epic but now it's alright but hilarious as hell.

It's been a recent thing. There's no one that gave a shit about these things around 2012 from what I remember, you either watched it or ignored it. I normally ignored the anime community 2013- as much as possible because they're autistic and I like to watch anime in peace)

They should just be outraged at the fact that garbage series is still going.

It's funny because the censored version is more filthy. Instead of showing what's going on, it's implying worse.
It's probably residual asshurt over Goblin Slayer, although I'm pretty sure older SAOs also got shit on by shitters for containing rape, instead of for being terribly written overall.

Wait, wait wait....so these are the faggots constantly whining about cultural appropriation but then they actually do it, taking something s culture prizes and then perverting it for profit? An actual example and it's totally fine? Fuck these people. Seriously, fuck these stupid hypocritical faggots.

Also lol they aren't going to be able to blame this on the whites because nobody in America gives a fuck about this series. What happens when your precious PoCs want to est you the fuck alive because you wanted to be woke? Enjoy that game of twister cunts.
