Newest ep of Zombie land saga has Lily come out as a trans. Doesn't help that Lily was barely gonna go thru puberty when he died of a heart attack over growing facial hair.

The thing was awful, one side was shrieking about TRANS!!, the other that he is not trans but a trap thing that everyone who is in the fandom is used to it, and then you get the shitposter that like to stir shit

I mean you see things like people wasting 500$ in this motherfucker

Speaking about Cowboy Bebop, I've seen some troon posts on Twatter saying that Watanabe revealed in an interview that Ed is non-binary gender fluid, is that true?

If it has to be done, I think Cowboy Bebop works better as a series than as the live-action movie that seemed to be in various stages of development (or development Hell) since the early aughts (2000s). Cowboy Bebop had very different tones from episode to episode and I don't think a single movie could have done all of the different flavors of episodes justice.

I know Keanu Reeves had been interested in the early days of development on the failed movie project and he might have worked as Spike but now he's a bit too old for the role.

She's "non-binary gender fluid" in so far as she's an autistic and/or idiot savant kid with severe ADD and what genitals she has are completely irrelevant to her character and what she does. The specific wording seems to be a troon putting words in Shinichiro Watanabe's mouth. Edward was originally a male child but Watanabe changed her design because he felt The Bebop was too much of a sausage party.

Yeah, Ed's gender is pretty much irrelevant to her character, but we can't have well-written, likeable characters who aren't defined by the contents of their panties and how they feel about that. Oh no. We need to obsess over a 13-year olds genitals and how those make her feel.
Ed is just Ed, there is no need to pigeonhole her through the oppression olympics snowflake-gender-blender.

Finally got around to watching Parasyte the Maxim. Imo it's pretty good, just seems a bit to preachy about mother earth and all that around the end. Still, some fights were pretty rad especially during the city hall massacre.

I decided to watch the dub and I'm glad because of how awful shinichis VA was. I couldn't take him seriously

A good day for the imperium of man today, Watanabe is going to make a full anime of Blade runner considering how awesome the short was im hyped

The Blade Runner universe is expanding again with an anime series that will air on Adult Swim in the U.S.

The cable channel has partnered with Alcon Television Group and anime streaming outlet Crunchyroll to produce Blade Runner — Black Lotus, a 13-episode series inspired by 2017's Blade Runner 2049, the sequel to Ridley Scott's 1982 classic.

The series' green light follows Alcon's deal with Titan Comics to continue the franchise in a series of comic books, with 2049 screenwriter Michael Green and Mike Johnson set to pen.

Details of the plot are being kept quiet for now, but Black Lotus will be set in the year 2032, in between the two films, and include some familiar characters from the Blade Runneruniverse.

"I first saw Blade Runner in 1982, at age 11. It has remained one of the defining films of my life," said Jason DeMarco, senior vp/creative director of Adult Swim on-air. "To be able to explore more of this universe, with the incredible talent we have on board, is a dream come true."

Animation studio Sola Digital Arts will produce the series, with Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama (the upcoming Ghost in the Shellreboot) directing all episodes. Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo) is a creative producer.

Adult Swim will have worldwide distribution rights (excluding Asia) to the English-dubbed version of the series and will air it in the U.S. as part of its Toonami anime block. Crunchyroll — which, like Adult Swim, is part of WarnerMedia — will handle worldwide streaming.

Alcon's Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, Laura Lancaster and Al-Francis Cuenca and Sola Digital Arts' Joseph Chou are executive producers. An air date for Blade Runner — Black Lotus hasn't been set.

Yup it’s getting made

The character herself admitted she’s a girl in a few episodes and the movie. There was even a boy in the manga that’s her kinda love interest that her computer is named after.

So. I was a very casual anime fan when I was a teenager. I loved Sailor Moon as a kid, but I really view that show like I would view a nostalgic show like TMNT, Thundercats, GI Joe, or He-Man (stuff I grew up watching) rather than I view it as an anime/genre-specific thing. If that makes sense?

When I was in high school, that's when I started to branch out a little bit with anime. I saw Cowboy Bebop the very first night of Adult Swim ever (fuck, I'm old), and I immediately fell in love with that show. To this day, I will still give Bebop a rewatch, and enjoy the hell out of it. Throughout high school, I branched out to other classics like Trigun and Evangelion (and I did love those shows, too). Once I started college, though, I lost complete interest in checking out anything new.

Fast forward to now, over a decade later, and the only new anime I've checked out is Attack on Titan. I'm in the middle of the first season, and I really like it so far. However, I've been getting through the first season at a very slow pace. I've watched 13 episodes in 6 months? Haha. And because of my love for Sailor Moon, I gave Sailor Moon Crystal a chance ... But it sucked ass and pissed me off.

I guess my unpopular opinion is that there haven't been ANY new/recent anime that I've seen previews for that have immediately grabbed at me. And I do know that there's some popular stuff out there right now.

Any recommendations for a normie like me?
