Dear CR users,

As many of you know, we have had an ongoing partnership with Funimation the last two years, sharing anime between users. Unfortunately, Funimation has decided to go their separate way, and this partnership will be winding down on Friday, November 9th.

For our Crunchyroll community, this means that you’ll still be able to access the biggest anime library in the world. However, a list of select catalog titles licensed via Funimation will be leaving Crunchyroll - likewise, the Funimation catalog will also be impacted. That list is currently being finalized between both parties, and we will share impacted titles with you as available. Currently-airing simulcasts and series that premiered during the partnership will continue to be available on Crunchyroll, including favorites like Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia. Additionally, all home video releases will be released as scheduled and all pre-orders will be fulfilled.

As demonstrated by our record year of anime announcements, Crunchyroll is more committed than ever to bringing you the best and latest series from Japan, as well as expanding our catalog of classics. We’ve just launched a strong fall season -- with the likes of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, and Sword Art Online Alicization -- and plan to bring much more anime to you in the future.

Thank you for your continued support. We’re honored to be your favorite source for anime and will continue to do our best in delivering you your favorite series at the speed of Japan.

Sincerely,
The Crunchyroll Team

Fuck you, Sony, you stole my anime video game titties and now this?

And they still have the balls to ask why people pirate, oh you want to watch this show? fuck you we dont have it in this service but you have to pay in ANOTHER service to watch it, it doesnt help that everyone and his grandmother want to have a streaming service, is the same crap that happen between amazon-netflix-hulu

Looking forward to hearing from the Crunchy shills about this. :story:

The ANN staff take on this seems to be "well, $30 a month for Crunchyroll, Funimation, and HiDive is still cheaper than renting anime on VHS or DVD back in the day", though, yes, they do acknowledge that a lot of anime fans also pay for, say, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu (or Hulu equivalent Crave TV in Canada).

I don't recall ever spending $30 a month on anime VHS/DVD rentals, but maybe that's just me.

Yes, the manga is barely in the second volume of the Light novel, there are 8 volumes as far as i know with 5 released by yen press, and like someone said, the edgyness is pretty much downplayed after the incident in the cave (in the manga and anime, in the novel is just a commentary and it only last three lines), yes there are mentions of rape but is show as something despicable the Goblins do to bolster their numbers and get a kick out of it, the rest is pretty much the guy making preparations to rekt the goblins in more creative ways because the elf keep banning him to go full Frank Castle on them, as i said in the discord of my friends, the thing is just a long ass d&d 4th edition campaign only that you only kill goblins
Ah, that's kind of a shame. From what I've read of the manga so far I was hoping that the current plot points were paving the way for other, bigger threats to crop up, possibly that someone is exploiting the fact that the high level adventurers snub their nose at goblin missions as a means to hide their operations in plain sight that could lead to much larger ramifications after working virtually unopposed for so long. It would certainly tie in well to the greater theme/message of not ignoring/underestimating a threat lest it become too big for you to handle.

But if Goblin Slayer doesn't have that, then it feels like it will turn into an endurance test of how many of more-or-less the same goblin fight you can sit through before you get bored.

There are coming bigger threats according to vol 3 some of the henchmens of the demon god (that was defeated by the legendary heroine) are causing havoc and trying to summon nasty stuff to wreck the world to spite the gods of order, but the only thing that connect them with goblin slayer is that they use goblins as foot soldiers, still they are not his responsibility, wrecking demons is the job for the mary sue heroine, someone has to take of the low life scum, word of god stated that this was on purpose because GS was created using Frank castle as a template, for example meanwhile the avengers are busy wrecking intergalactic/interdimensional threats someone has to take care of the drug dealers, human traffickers, rapist and murderers that are too low tier for them that is Goblin slayer here, the guy that kill the low tier scum

That explains the introduction of the legendary blind(?) priest woman then, considering she states that despite her status there's certain holy magics that are beyond her ability since she's not a virgin.

In any case might stick with it if the anime moves at a faster pace than the manga, but it kinda feels like a "watch once in a blue moon" kind of show.

Thing is, episode 1 was preddy gud, episode 2 was... eh.
They picked the wrong VA performance for that friend of GS (she sounds like an air headed loli, srsly) and somehow they managed to pick a few parts from the manga and adapted them in the most boring way possible.

Edit: where can I read GS? Manga reader only has chapters 1-12...

Can anyone recommend me an anime like Berserk that is finished and with no garbage CGI? Bonus: and something like Princess Tutu?

Bonus: and something like Princess Tutu?

Aw shit, man, Princess Tutu is its own genre, I seriously can't think of anything else like it. You might as well just rewatch it.

But for reals, anything listed here could do. Revolutionary Girl Utena is probably the closest to Tutu, but I'm only a third of the way in and I've heard it more compared to Evangelion and Serial Experiments Lain anyway. Though it's not recommended on that page, I did think of Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou almost immediately, which may be a rather unpopular opinion as that series was bashed for being a Madoka clone pretty much as soon as it was released, but it's been overlooked in my opinion.

I've recently taken a squint at the ... uh ... specialness that is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, thanks to the Fabulous Custodes and a few throwaway jokes here on KF. I gotta say, starting by visiting the wiki was a mistake: I immediately fell into an unholy mirror universe where a fourteen-year-old girl was giving birth to the full-grown corpse of Jesus Christ through a magic (?) technique named after a Beatles song while being pursued by the bishonen President of the United States.

I think I respect it for doing its own thing, but gazing into the abyss has made me a little nervous. Does JJBA really hold up to the surface-level promise of sheer insanity? Also, anime or manga?

That’s like....7 parts too early for you.

Yeah, someone here referenced Steven Steel and JJBA and I looked them up. At which point events eventuated and I wound up staring at the page for "Ticket to Ride" going " ... huh. That's a thing."

I'd like to start from the beginning--no point in jumping in at the middle. But if it's just one weird standout arc giving me a false impression of the series' tone, I'd prefer to know ahead of time.
