I don't know the studios or anything. I am pretty ignorant of the whole fan culture, industry and history of it but if an anime catches my attention and can hold it I will watch it. So far the animes I've liked and finished have been Sailor Moon, Dragon Maid, Madoka Magica, Death Parade and Gabriel Dropout. I like magical girls and mythical creatures. In Western media my favourite genre is urban fantasy but I don't know how much of an anime equivalent of that exists. Any weebs have anime recommendations for me?
Occult Academy, Ghost Hunt, Another, Natsume's Book of Friends.

SoraYori was SO GOOD
I only watched the first 3 episodes while it was airing but those were great. I actually forgot about it but I'll probably watch the rest this weekend.

Garupan das Finale episode 1 is out and subbed and predictably it's fantastic. Highlights include the pirate fight, the Mark IV and Yumi Hara singing in something approximating French. I find it hard to believe that this'll actually be a finale given how consistently entertaining the series continues to be and how phenomenally well it sells.

I finished Nerima Daikon Brothers, and hoo boy that was fun; still looking up more stuff on its references, and the more I learn about it the more I dig it. I think this may be among my top 15 (or 20) favorite anime, though I won't know until I do some more rewatches and check out the director commentaries (I enjoy commentaries, and I'm really glad I bought the DVD boxset in this case). But I can say with certainty it's one of my favorite dubs, like goddamn, I didn't know Greg Ayres could sing.

I will never stop being salty over how Shigurui only has one season.
I will also never stop being salty over the abrupt end of the Shigurui Manga, since it sets up a couple awesome fights in a huge tournament and then just sort of ends after one fight.

Currently re-reading Kenshin after 10+ years and I remembered it being good... but now that I am re-reading it, I have to say, it's even better than I remember.

A while back ago I checked out of Netflix's new anime B the Beginning. Spoilers its crap. but if I was to give more detail about my problem with it. i'd say it feels like a 50 episode show condensed in a 12. it doesn't pull off any of it ideas well and all the character are one note nobodies. Also it's season two was dumb and didn't make sense even in context.

Now then off to rewatch Relife a show I like.

Junni Kouki (also known as 12 Kingdoms) is a severely underrated series, though I will admit that the books are far superior to the anime. It’s a shame that it stopped when it did, because I was looking forward to seeing some of Fuyumi Onno’s short stories be animated (and was especially hoping to see what they’d do with the story involving Kyou’s queen too, and just wanted to see more Shoryuu/King of Enn).

At times though, I feel like I’m the only person who is aware that this show exists.

One Piece Chapter #900: Wew lad..

The Sunny may be completely gone.

I am having a mini-Ace death moment. Oda, you better not leave us hanging after two weeks!

I'm currently watching Deadman Wonderland since I have a Blu-Ray copy, and I think it's hilarious that it's censored and not "100% Blood & Gore" like it's advertised on the back of the cover. :story:
But what about long, gratuitous censor bleeps?

Noticed this in twitterland...

Yeah, the same happened with Blade of the Immortal. The manga is one of the best I ever read, but the anime just kind of dissappointed me...

Also:
It's really a shame they rushed through pretty much the first volumes of the Manga to get to the Deadmen part. They skipped out on so much good stuff and then tried to somehow backtrack in the end. The end of season 1 was so awkward, it effectively killed all chances of a season two.

The sad fate of a lot of anime adaptations of manga.

EDIT: When it's not filler episodes tying them down, it's cutting out material to fit into a 13 episode 'trial' and hope a second season happens.

Aw fuck, and I have plans to watch it.

The manga ended up getting cancelled/ending early anyway, right? The anime adaptation may have further hurt it. In the meantime it might've also helped kill Manglobe, even though it still took a few years for it to close down. Like damn, Manglobe must've fucked up really badly or something.

But still, because I knew of how infamous the adaptation was, I wasn't as disappointed with it than I was with Black Blood Brothers. Now that is an anime that should've had more episodes because it literally ended just as the real plot was starting, and yet it must've had poor sales or something 'cause they never made more.
