Death Toll scans just released a new Junji Ito oneshot called Layers of Fear. I'm posting it here because I only managed to stumble across it by pure coincidence and I doubt many other people know about it. Someone also uploaded it on Imgur:

I like how in the Imgur comments someone saw the parallels between this and Amigara Fault, but I'm so glad it played out completely differently. That was awesome.

Too bad I accidentally saw the twist in Super Eyepatch Wolf's newest video, as amazing at that video was as well.:heart-empty:

That video by Super Eyepatch Wolf was the whole reason I was able to find this story translated! When he showed the artwork from the story in his video I was like "Wait a minute, I've read basically everything Junji Ito has ever created but I don't recognize this at all." So I did a reverse Google Image search and after a little digging I found a 4chan thread where the oneshot had been dumped.

Anyway, I also love the parallels between this story and The Enigma of Amigara Fault. It's so creepy how, in this story, all of the layers and disfigurements are inside of the body rather than being caused by shapes carved in a mountainside.

Meanwhile
the fact that Junji kept Reimi's new body in near-complete shadow must mean that it has to be extremely horrific compared to the previous examples of body horror he's done, like damn.

I miss badass robo-pilots.

I don't know how the eng dub is, but if you like this stuff, go watch Shin getter robot armageddon, if you havent already.
it's dark, fucked up and badass and the main antagonist is basically the THING from the carpenter movie.
There's even a whole episode that takes place in the same setting.

I've never seen this, but I have heard and love the second opening:

The original never said this. Dubs die.

it's worth watching. The animation is also great. You just don't see this kind of stuff anymore.
I've only ever watched the original getter series, the one from the 70es I think and a couple of Oavs, but you dont really need to know the franchise, to dive in.
It's not perfect by any means and the plot sometimes doesnt feel cohesive, considering they changed the director of the project after 3 episodes I think(they are 13 in total)

If this clip doesnt make you want to watch it, nothing will.

the black gettar is so fucking cool.

I like it when this happens since it triggers autists to the extreme and produces geysers of salt.

This is apparently what happened with the dub of Hajimete no Gal and I'm like super tempted to go watch it dubbed simply because of it. It's weird because I was told that they made a Trump joke like three episodes in, but it took until the halfway point for people to flip their shit over a café scene.

Watching Pop Team Epic and liking it so far i know it's not for everyone, I could compare it to say Tim And Eric with the random and weird humor. Also doing my annual reading of Riki-Oh and loving every min of it.

My favorite Funimation dub fuckery remains when they decided that a borderline hentai harem series was a good place to get preachy about Gamergate of all fucking things.
