Looking for some opinions from some Dragonball Spergs.
My friend was trying to get us into the anime (instead of abridged) without subjecting us to massive amounts of filler. He created this playlist to show us the "highlights" of each saga: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgUTJNZeAT9quCgGlV1VCOXZ24o0cIWyu.
Do you think he had the right idea or this curating takes from the experience?
This is a mish-mash of the original Z and Dragon Ball Kai. If you wanted to watch Dragon Ball Z without the filler, just opt for Dragon Ball Z Kai. The dub is substantially improved in a lot of ways and they streamlined the experience. Original Z is 291 episodes, in Kai that's cut all the way down to 167 (though also the dub for Kai hasn't finished airing). I feel the highlights give you a good idea of what to expect but the full experience is definitely worth the time put into it. Consider also watching the original Dragon Ball, it's the best that DB has to offer in terms of both fighting and story.

Ditto what Coster said. After you watch Dragon Ball and either Z or Kai, f you still want more and feel ballsy enough, try GT. It's a weird entry and is completely non-canon to boot, but it'd probably be good to have someone who wasn't in the fandom for very long to look into it. Has a pretty good soundtrack, and Super Saiyan 4 is probably the best thing about the series, all things considered (even if how it came to be is a bit wonky).

The new Dragon Ball movie poster dropped today and I'm so fucking psyched for it.

See how that's a totally different Goku than what we've been seeing in the anime? It's because Tadayoshi Yamamuro, the guy who's done Dragon Ball designs and animation direction for the anime for over two decades, isn't on this movie as a director, art director, or designer. It's being directed by Tatsuya Nagamine, who did One Piece Film Z. This is about to be the best-looking Dragon Ball movie released in decades.

Goddamn it, Toei, each time I hate you for something stupid you do, you surprise me like this. And it doesn't matter how much I tell myself to not get hyped up so I won't feel let down when it (inevitably) falls flat, those are some goddamn high expectations. You can't help but get hyped.

So fuck yeah, this is going to look amazing on the big screen.

I've just started watching Darling in the Franxx. Going in completely blind, a few episodes in, I kinda really dig it. It might be bad and trashy, it might be the Kill La Kill version of Evangelion (which still might be bad and trashy).

I purchased the boxset of Nerima Daikon Brothers at a thrift store today because it's an anime I've been meaning to watch for a few years now and thought it would be a good time to start. Outside of it having Shinichi Watanabe being his usual self, is there anything I need to know going in to fully enjoy it?

Jiren is gonna get his mister clean looking ass knocked out.

unless some rich fan is funding it all by himself, it's never going to get done.
In this day and age, berserk is simply too much un-marketable. If this were the eighties, it would be different.
It would've had a chance in those pre-burst bubble years.

it would have worked fine.
A lot of violent mangas of that era, were very successfull and got lenghty anime adaptations. But then sadly that era ended and all that was left were spinelss mc, ala evangelion, clueless harem protagonists and androginous pretty boys.

I'm glad you see it my way.
