If Hunter x Hunter is a Porsche, Fairy Tail is a PT Cruiser- popular despite being garbage.

In short: it's crap, watch something else.

If you liked One Piece and Hunter x Hunter, give Yu Yu Hakusho a try.
I watched the 90s anime years ago. I'm surprised nobody has rebooted it for a modern audience.

It's not exactly a reboot, but hey, a special's something.

Eiichiro Oda Teases Developments for One Piece Manga in 2018
Author teases new enemy, Wano Country arc
One Piece manga creator Eiichiro Oda teased future developments for the manga via a handwritten message during a stage presentation at the Jump Festa 2018 event on Sunday. In the message, Oda said that the manga will enter the Wano Country arc next year. He added that he said the same thing last year, but explained that at the time he thought he would be able to enter the arc this year.

Oda also stated in the message that he plans to introduce a "lurking legend" in the One Piece world next year. He also added that it will be "Luffy and his crew's greatest enemy." Oda teased that this enemy "might be related to Whitebeard." Oda also teased that the Paramount War storyline in the series will "look cute" compared to "that."

Oda had said in an interview in the Super Kabuki II One Piece ''Idai Naru Sekai" photo collection and information book that shipped last month that he thought that he will get to the Wano Country arc within 1-2 years, but he will also "probably" draw a story related to Ace within the arc.

Oda said in an interview in July 2016 that he had finished around 65% of the manga.

The manga currently has 430 million copies in print worldwide — 360 million copies in print in Japan and 70 million copies in print outside of Japan. Oda began serializing the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997, and the manga has been published in more than 30 countries. Shueisha released the manga's 87th compiled book volume on November 2, and Viz Media released the 84th volume on November 7.

It will be Blackbeard or some of Blackbeard's crew in Wano. Blackbeard will fuck Luffy a new asshole with his two devil fruit powers forcing Luffy to awaken his devil fruit and go full Plastic Man mode. Zoro will get his backstory filled in or we will find out if Tashigi is really Kuina with amnesia or some other shenanigans. Hell we might get Shillew vs Zoro or Ussopp vs Van Augur and maybe Lafitte vs Sanji.

My only complaints with BNHA are that it's tropey to the point of being predictable, and that the amount of praise it's been getting has lured all the cringey teenagers into its fanbase. Even though it's better than SAO and SNK, it's likely to suffer the same fate- overhype and rabid fans will cause people to turn on it.

Otherwise though, it's pretty good, and feels like a classic shounen story. The manga has a really nice, (albeit cutesy) art style and I dig the character designs a lot. Horikoshi is really good at varying facial features without making the characters look weird or ugly.

Side note: if you like Star Wars, you'll probably appreciate how much BNHA references it.
LOL what was I thinking when I recommended that! Look at your avatar! This is why one shouldn't post with low blood sugar.

I actually think that BnHA is kinda good at subverting some tropes, and the current arc (Internship arc) has been kinda divisive, with the new fans hating it and the old fans liking it (or so I perceive), I am unsure how much I should go with discussing it, because by my estimation, it will be part of Season 4.

Horikoshi is a great mangaka who does some excellent characterization work. I love the fact that BnHa is about Shigaraki's rise as a villain as much as it is about Deku's rise as a hero. And IMO, All Might is the best mentor character since Jiraiya.

I don't think I've ever been as excited for One Piece, it feels like some big, big shit is going down very soon.

I have a feeling it will be Kaido, who really hasn't done much of worth during his screentime: Fucking up Zou and its inhabitants? Taking down a couple of Supernovas? I don't think the world would even blink at that shit. Plus, he is going to be the main villain of the Wano arc for sure.

Would anyone be interested in a One Piece thread?

I finished Nadia: Secret of Blue Water and while that ending was a little weird (albeit not as weird as the Lincoln Island/Africa episodes, like damn those feel like fever dreams), I liked it a lot, a very charming series. I can definitely see why it's so beloved, but I also could definitely see the beginnings of Evangelion during it even though it's still way too happy and optimistic. Sucks Anno had to leave midway, but judging from the final episodes, he must've storyboarded the ending at the very least.

I'm trying to find the dub of the movie online, but no one seems to have it (I liked the dub enough that I don't want to go with the sub). I know about its reputation, so maybe that's why I can't find it, but my curiosity keeps getting the better of me and my completionist ass won't let me brush it off despite the warnings I'm running into. My brother's curious about it, too, so we're probably going to end up buying a (used) copy on Amazon if I can't find anything.

If it's to have news and all things One Piece in one thread, it's not a bad idea, but it'll probably just go the way of the JoJo thread in getting swamped with shitpost memes. Which I'm all for, honestly.

Its that whole related to Whitebeard comment that gets me a thinking about Blackbeard. I'm still wondering when Dragon or Shanks is going to come back into focus again.

How is One Piece? I'm thinking about giving it a read, but I don't know what to expect. The only thing that really puts me off is the "800+ chapters," but I can deal with that if it's good.

As a frame of reference, I enjoyed Berserk and Jojo.

Edit: bitch, how is this post horrifying?

It's a pretty breezy read with no real low points with each arc feeding into the next, but like with Jojo it takes it time setting up the pieces of the board.

I guess the only real fault with One Piece is Oda just leaving unanswered questions everywhere and sometimes the story becomes a clusterfuck with three or more story strands happening at the same time.

Just finished the first chapter. I love that the main character is already out and doing shit so early on.

Whelp, time to get reading.

(this shit better not suck me in like jojo and berserk did)

Who's your favorite One Piece character? Mine's Nami. My sister's favorite is Chopper.

I'm sure I've said it before, but hands down, my favorite's Usopp. I don't exactly know why, it's just that every time Usopp's onscreen, he makes me smile (except during Water 7, that was just fucking depressing--luckily Sniper King happened). Also watching him grow as a character has been amazing, and I'm looking forward to Elbaf when it comes to his further character development.

I am hoping Wano will help me come to love Zoro as so far, he's the only Straw Hat whom I'm a bit indifferent towards. Like he's awesome, don't get me wrong, but I don't feel like I know him well enough for a proper opinion, if that makes any sense.

If any of you guys are looking for an anime that doubles as a good Christmas movie, give Tokyo Godfathers a shot. It's directed by Satoshi Kon, which is always a seal of quality.

The whole Going Merry situation is really sad and Usopp was right about how the ship was part of the crew even through they needed a new ship. Luffy should of got a new ship and given the Merry to Usopp to do what he sees fit with. Zoro was being his usual prick self and Luffy is his usual autist self when handling that situation and maybe should of shown some tact to the whole Usopp's waifu built the ship for him and how attached he was to it.

I think we are all waiting for the Tashigi is Kuina revelation and his secret origins.

You're gonna love it, and you will be surprised at how much everything's interconnected. Hell, it even surprises me today.

Just make sure to give it enough time like @Kari Kamiya says, and you will be fine.

Who's your favorite One Piece character? Mine's Nami. My sister's favorite is Chopper.
For me, it's a tie between Luffy, Zoro & Rayleigh. But I could probably go on and list dozens.. Oda is a genius at characterization, characters rarely feel anything less than %100 true to their personalities.

I think Zoro has the weakest back-story in all of One Piece. I honestly hope that he gets the Sanji treatment in the Wano arc. While we're at it, Chopper, Robin, Trafalgar and Doflamingo have my favorite origin stories of OP.

The Going Merry situation is one of the reasons that I love the Enies Lobby saga, because it's very good at showing the hidden depth of Usopp, Luffy, and Zoro. Although I think Zoro's decision was very valid, because after all, no pirate can freely return to his old crew after disrespecting the boss, it really doesn't matter whether or not it was justified.

Just reread Toriyama's Sandland for the first time in over a decade. It was a fun little romp and you can't help but feel he was having fun creating it.
