Personally, I didn't like the Last that much, but the wedding montage was simply amazing and easily worth watching.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=7_tajglm6WYI think Naruto gets shit on way too much, it isn't as badly executed as Bleach or Fairy Tail IMO.

Bleach was a real kick in the teeth for me, given how much I loved its general art style, particularly its character designs. It's a shame that the series' world just wasn't built correctly, and the it eventually collapsed under its own weight.
It had a lot to do with a number of other factors as well. You ever watch this? It’s been posted here a couple times.

And as for Naruto...

Just realized that I missed some good replies here..
I'm thinking Thriller Bark's actually one of my favorite arcs the more I think about it. Probably helps one several of my favorite Usopp moments come from Thriller Bark, Perona is one of my favorite non-Straw Hats aesthetically and character-wise, Brook got to prove himself worthy to be a Straw Hat and is just so much fun to watch (and his backstory broke me, hadn't cried that hard since CLANNAD), Sanji's dream of invisibility being broken upon encountering Absalom is hilarious, and then there's the fact it foreshadowed New World arcs, I think more-so than the previous arcs. I also have this honest suspicion Moriah's coming back with a vengeance in the future, maybe in the battle with Kaido, and that'll just be so fucking awesome. And I don't know why, but I'm personally hoping he's forming an alliance with ex-Warlord members on top of that. I think that'd be really cool.
The Wano arc (And the Yonko conflict in general) has a LOT of elements that potentially could appear:
  • They are seeking Marco The Phoenix, so it's highly likely that some other ex-WB pirates will show up, like Vista, Jozu ..etc.
  • If the above people show up, then Whitebeard Jr. will definitely show up looking for them.
  • As you mentioned, Moriah has a long-standing grudge against Kaido, I'd like to imagine that he will be in far better shape after the time-skip, he always struck me as having much higher fighting potential than he showed so far, and his confrontation with Jinbe somewhat foreshadowed that.
  • The Kid, Hawkins & On-Air pirate crews are all in this conflict now after their confrontation with Kaido. And the Heart/Straw Hat pirates are already in as well, if you add the Drake Pirates (who have been shown to be sailing under Kaido's flag), then you would have 9 out of 11 Supernovas who are confirmed!
  • Caribou was last seen captured by X. Drake, so he is possibly one of Kaido's captives.
And those are the people I can mention, I have some other characters I expect to show up, but I don't want to spoil anything, even if they aren't official confirmed or alluded to yet.

TL;DR: The Yonkou war will be amazing and I am totally hyped!
Yeah, I dig Thriller Bark quite a bit myself. I want Brook to reunite with Laboon sooo much! While I haven't been keepingup with the show after Fishman Island arc, so far I have to say I liked Foxy's debut the least. Sometimes I still can't believe it's canon, while the excellent G8 arc is just filler.
Totally agreed on Foxy, I understand why we needed the Foxy Pirates arc, as it's basically a short palate cleanser before we head into the CP9 saga, but that doesn't make Foxy a very good character. But the arc did give us Afro Luffy & Aokiji's debut, so I'm thankful for that at least.
I can't bring myself to hate him for some reason, and I don't know why. Could be partially because my brothers find him funny, but I feel like he brought up an interesting challenge when it comes to the kinds of Devil Fruit there are. Like the Slow-Slow Fruit sounds fucking stupid, and everyone in-and-meta-verse never took him seriously for it, but then he was fucking with Luffy during their fight and was proving himself to be threatening. Didn't last too long, but I think he was one of the better strategists in One Piece at the time because of it. And so far, I think he's one of the more interesting "Stupid Devil Fruit Abilities" user, and I think he could benefit from returning to the story at least one other time.
I don't think Foxy will show up, remember that his strategies only worked because of the confines of the Davy Back Fight games. Otherwise he would be completely out of his depth in any big conflict.

A similar character that I far, far prefer is Buggy, I am completely loving how he is using his powers to appear like this tall imposing pirate, literally a hollow giant, while he is possibly the weakest of all notable NW pirates. It really cements the idea that being chosen as a Shichibukai is about building a fearsome reputation more than having actual power.
I use to be a fan of conan myself. I stopped watching mostly cause wasn't on TV anymore. Which happened a lot now that I think about. roughly about started to watch it again around episode 754 and let's just that case rubbed me the wrong way. it honestly felt like I saw this type of scenario before in conan and it didn't help that it was kinda of crap. I kept following it for a while, but lord almighty did lot of case just straight up suck. Like the two parter The Love Novel With Unexpected Results(I am cheating a bit by using wikipedia and crunchyroll for info) is just uninspired and bland murder case. I might give the old dub seasons another watch.
I think that the scenarios are becoming more and more repetitive, however I meant the actual tricks used in the murders. Those are always inventive, even though we as viewers have been trained to see through them immediately.
I cried like a bitch when I first watched that episode.
Me too. Brook is amazing, and he is arguably the current arc's MVP.
As for Naruto's greatest "sin"? Well its not a very good in its long term story telling and its only good in short moments. The whole Naurto and Sasuke plot line is a utter garbage, but their fight towards the end of part 1 had cool parts to it.
Agreed, although I think their final fight was also very satisfying and well done, especially in the anime.

I watched the Bleach video, and maybe the Naruto one as well, both raise some very solid points.

What do you guys think about the whole iseikai genre?
I understand that Im probably not the target for it, but most of the time, it just reduces itself to a nerd powerfantasy.
I dont get how something so low effort and that is full of stereotypes and cliches, can have so much success.

Also I despise the whole harem concept in general, even more when the one that has it, is an unlikeble faggot, so that only adds to my dislike.

What do you guys think about the whole iseikai genre?

It's become more of a fantasy world these days (or at least one that takes many cues from MMORPGS), but it generally means "other/parallel world", so that other world doesn't necessarily have to be a fantasy world. It's an idea that's been around for a long time, it just has had a surge in popularity of a certain kind for a number of years now.

But to answer the question, I don't mind it. I wouldn't say I'm a fan of it, it just so happens a lot of shows, books, and games I like tend to be part of the "other world" genre, and there's nothing wrong with it. It can get stale and predictable, yes, but I feel as long as creativity is in play and the world's rules are established and followed, it will help determine how the character who gets transported to that world will fare. I think that's where most of the problems lie is the fact they're not being enforced, thus making it not as believable. Like why would you want to live in a world opposite of yours if you don't even know how it works? Heck, you wouldn't even consider it another world if it's just way too similar to our world, you know?

I mean, most of the time it comes down to: nerd who spends all of his days playing jrpgs, gets transported to another world that works amost exactly like his favorite vg.
Thats the one im mostly referring to.
If the world is cosiderably different and the mc is not the stereotypical otaku, I think the concept is interesting.

Press F to pay respects to the new SJ Kenshin series and thousands of weebs' childhoods.

"I like girls between late elementary school and second year junior high."

Kinda seems like something you probably shouldn't be admitting to I dunno.
I still want to read the manga if only because I believe that we can separate the artist from the person. It's not like most artists are upstanding citizens anyway.

What do you guys think about the whole iseikai genre?
It bores the hell out of me, for the most part. I guess it just doesn't appeal to me because I don't play medieval fantasy MMOs. The only isekai thing I can stand is Youjo Senki, and that's rather atypical for an isekai work in terms of setting.

I dont get how something so low effort and that is full of stereotypes and cliches, can have so much success.
Otaku eat pandering shit like that up like hotcakes.

What do you guys think about the whole iseikai genre?
Overlord was pretty fun, and while it wasn't exactly a deconstruction or parody it was still self aware enough that it didn't piss me off with it's cliches. I'll leave it at that I have no interest in exploring the rest of the genre. I'm also pretty skeptical of the second season

Second season is gonna be good. The manga hasn't turned to shit yet. (never read the LN)

I don't think I'm alone in this when I say I really hate it when anime are left unfinished just when the plot's ready to take off. Looking at you, Black Blood Brothers, like what the fuck, why'd you leave us hanging like that?

Well, that’s
two more universes erased
for Dragon Ball Super.

Also, holy crap is there a part of the fandom that is super super pissy about that one Universe with the “Love” Warriors. Like they’re genuinely angry they exist. Mostly because it’s part of the whole “NO ONE IS EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO AS STRONG AS GOKU” thing.

I just watched the first episode of Urahara. The pacing feels uneven and the backgrounds are a bit wobbly, but I already like two characters (Mari the tsukkomi aspiring actress and Ebifurya the talking fried shrimp) so I think I'll stick with it.

The only reason why people shit on Universe 2 is because one of their warriors is a fat cunt with a horrible personality, and overstays their welcome.

In my opinion, The whole idol/fighter thing, was done better in multiverse.
Also it was interesting that, her love gimmick came back to bite her in the ass, since the girl almost got raped.
Because you know, thats what would happen, when you try to make an high testosterone brute, fall in love with you.

Someone explain to me why so many short-lived anime have a first season of 22 episodes and a second of 12.

If they warrant a second season, and the patch was interesting enough to warrant 22 in their first one, just. Why? Poor judgement resulting in mediocre ratings, so the second season is just for closure?

Maybe it's a sports anime thing but I see it a lot.

Depends. Some of them are constricted by their source material's publishing schedule, others have different reasons.

Well, it’s not Danny deVito, but I’ll take it.

I can't believe I'm saying this, put Gundam Build Fighters to freaking rest. Bandai/Sunrise are not putting in the heart the first series did, all they're freaking doing is blatant pandering. And not even well-executed pandering at that. It's just "look at this cool MS and how completely broken it is," while failing to deliver on the actual fights. Not to mention how they keep pushing Fumina because she's popular with the guys who create hentai. Just, freaking get your act together or let Build Fighters die down with dignity.

(They just completed a series of underwhelming shorts then announced another Build Fighters project, not to mention GM's Counterattack last summer. The latter was alright, but not great.)
