I mostly do it because I live in an area where distribution is shit and I'm consistently poor.

That and I don't see the reason to buy something I can just watch on the internet whenever I feel like.

The blu rays are like 70 bucks for each volume
Only in Japanese as well

I think the biggest issue right now is that CGI has been used poorly so often in anime that people just assume CGI is inherently worse than traditional animation. The success of Kemono Friends is sort of challenging this, but only in the sense that shows with bad CGI can be good, not that CGI itself can be good.

I've seen people write off Land of the Lustrous solely because of this, which is a shame, since it's easily the most visually attractive CGI-based anime I've ever seen:

I'm excited for when CC2 finally rolls out their first anime because god knows they understand it extremely well. You will almost never encounter licensed products with the level of graphical excellence as the Naruto Storm games.

As some people may notice from my avatar I'm currently big into Senki Zesshou Symphogay. At the very first look it may appear like a Vocaloid version of Sailor Moon but boy was I blown the fuck out by what the series kept escalating into. Symphogear can best be described as a series that turns crack induced :autism: into an art form. And I love it for that. The songs are amazing and if you happen to be a yurifag you will feel even more at home.

Season 1 had the best opening IMO.

The shity part is that 70 is for like three, maybe four episodes. Its a god dame rip off and I still puzzled how long this practice has lasted. Thank fucking Christ it failed to work in the west. Now we just get overprice blurays of half a series instead. If they weren't so accepting of streaming, piracy would be so much worse.

70 bucks is for like 2 eps 4 tops though. Cause limited versions and shit. You just have to wait until they release it all YEARS in the future and you put your own subs in that you ripped from other ppl. SAD! (or just download the blu ray rips)

This was announced a couple of months ago, but I just now found out about it and have to share it. The king of horror manga, Junji Ito, is finally getting his stories adapted into an anime series. The anime is titled Junji Ito "Collection" and it will premiere on Tokyo MX on Sunday, January 7 at 10:00 p.m. It looks as though each episode will cover a different Ito one shot.

While it's true that most of the effectiveness and charm of Ito's stories come from his gorgeous art style, and that style is probably impossible to recreate in an anime, I'm still super excited for this.

Oh, and next month (December 19), you can buy an Ito manga called Shiver, which is a collection of 9 stories that Ito himself selected. The fan-favorite story "The Hanging Balloons" is included.

Man. How bad are they gonna fuck this up? Hope I'm wrong.

It's Studio Deen. They'll find a way to fuck it up into becoming Pupa 2.0, and when that happens, horror anime's dead forever.

My guess is because ufotable fucked up Gyo, they had to go with the studio behind the Ao Oni movie--because that was some quality horror.

Wait why is Deen doing this? They can only do comedy. The fuck man?

Good or bad, I am mad that little shit Souichi is getting episode either way. they are other waay better stories for them to ruin.

Yeah, the Souichi stories have always been pretty weak imo. The spinoff story, the Fashion Model, is great, but the other stories aren't anything special. For some reason Junji is pretty attached to Souichi, though.

The thing about the Souichi stories is that they're built around how much of a brat he is instead of focusing on the actual horror elements, which is why they're not as good. On a similar note, I could never get into Tomie.

Gonna throw this up here since anime's animation history is just fascinating, and it feels like the perfect video to counteract those who have complete disdain for CGI in anime.

Watching Neo Yokio. RPGMonger was right, this show is better when it acts like an abridged series.

Also, just want to say fuck you Bandai/Funimation. Releasing season one of Gundam IBO in DVD/BD combo packs to justify charging fans the same amount for half of season one as you would for half of any of the other shows. Gee, it really makes me want to pay the same amount to have half of the show as it would for me to buy the complete series of Zeta Gundam or Turn A. It's shit like this that's the reason Gundam never took off after Wing in the West.

Honestly I always had trouble being invested in the Tomie series as well as Souichi's tales. I think Ito works best when not focusing on characters so much as the horror around them. Gyo's anime was awful, but I can't help but be optimistic and hope for a good adaptation since this guy is my fave. Can't be any worse than his live action adaptations...

my local theater is going to screen Sword of The Stranger for one night in two weeks.Should I go?
