Speaking of stuff falling off the face of the earth with a network, does anyone else remember Spider Riders?
I remember it exist and that it aired on Cartoon Network. Beyond that I remember diddly. I think read some were that it's based on a book series and that it was a American produced anime animated by Beetrain

When I was little I used to watch Pokemon, Yugioh, Dragonball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Duel Monsters. I wasn't really aware of what anime was back then though.
After childhood, I got out of anime for a while, and I rediscovered it through the show Durarara!!. Durarara!!'s airing on Adult Swim is what got me watching anime regularly. Show was rad. Who doesn't like seeing street gangs, psychopathic love stories, and the supernatural all mixed in together in modern Tokyo? Plus that opening was lit:

My first anime was probably Pokemon, although at that age I was mostly interested in the monster collecting theme.

Right now I'm bingeing Attack on Titan like my life depends on it.

Canadian, actually (both in the book series and anime co-producers), but you're otherwise correct.

This is the only thing I am watching next season.

If you guys are into dungeon crawling stuff, I'd suggest giving Made in Abyss a shot. Its an adaptation of a manga from 2012 (still ongoing, chapter 43 is being worked on at the moment) that feels like Etrian Odyssey and Cave Story had a baby, and its been my favorite show of the season. The pacing is a bit slow at times but I think it does a great job of getting you excited for the story and setting in the first episode. The animation is a bit cheap at times but the art style and soundtrack are both fantastic.

It's incredibly dark, though. If you can't handle gore or depressing subject matter, you will be horrified by the direction the series goes.

This has been made particularly funny, because some clown at Anime-Now decided to champion the show as a family-friendly thing to watch with your kids, having only watched 6 episodes and refusing to do any outside research on the source material:

If you bother to read the comments section, you can see how hilariously combative she is about it, and how quickly she bails once everyone turns on her.

Reading "Liar Game". I like the premise, and honestly the first volume in of itself was pretty well done.

Beyond that though, it felt like some of the twists were either too obvious or kinda silly. And Nao's constant "honesty" (by that I mean stupidity) is kinda grating.

Like the first couple times, okay, that's understandable. But beyond that she really should have figured out the nature of something called "The Liar Game".

She gets tricked by the same tranny who tricked her in the second round. Why the hell did she think it would be a good idea to trust him again?

Plus, the art style is pretty ugly.

Hopefully it gets better.

AIC is trying to get funding for a Magical Girl Pretty Sammy sequel. It's been like five days, and only 190,000円 of 10,000,000円 from five backers has been raised, and it'll be up until December 7th. Who knows if this'll actually come to fruition, but it's an interesting development.

Kinda of a stretch for something pretty obscure.

Ehhh I wouldn't say it's entirely obscure. Tenchi Muyou Ryo-ohki 4 was released recently, and I suspect it did well enough for AIC to decide to bring back one of the spin-offs (which actually had a TV series ten years ago, so...). I do think it's interesting it's a direct sequel to the '96 TV series, however.

Technically, I guess the first anime I ever watched was Speed Racer, but the two shows I really consider my first were Sailor Moon and DBZ.

Don't know if it's been talked about here, but man Legend of Black Heaven was one of the funnest shows I've watched in a long time. I decided to watch it on a whim because I heard the anime was somewhat unique for having a protagonist that's not of high school age, but I wasn't expecting the show to be about a man that has to save the universe through the power of rock and roll. The show's concept is so stupid and it hasn't aged particularly well, but if you can't at least chuckle at this show every once and a while, you have no sense of humor. I watched the dub, and it was worth it just to hear Beau Billingslea as this over the hill rocker say "god dammit" at some of the crappy situations he gets into.

Well you certainly won't like the ending. One Outs by the same author is really good though. It's like Eyeshield 21 in that it's mainly just watching the mastermind (Hiruma, Tokuchi) utilizing insane strategies to beat opponents (though it's certainly more grounded in reality than E21) than the actual sport, so even if you're not a fan of beisbowl I think you could find enjoyment enough.

The only major problem is that the manga was never fully translated, there's a gap in the middle. So if you want to get the whole thing you need to combine the anime with the manga either by starting with it or picking it up where the gap begins then finishing with the manga.
