I was reading a Shintaro Kago manga from the 2000s and he actually did the best visual interpretation of my view of what is life in India: senseless violence, people dying out of nowhere, someone being raped/abused, nothing working correctly and so on.

time for the weekly HnK bitching because they're so very very close to getting it and yet it slips away from them instantly
this scene very obviously has Ken and Colonel animating at different framerates and the difference is JARRING
ever since first laying my eyes on anime using CGI segments I've always maintained that it looked awful due to low number of frames because the 3D look can never be truly be shaken off and will ALWAYS look weird trying to ape traditional cel animation and that it could all be solved by simply doubling the framerate
I'm certain that if I had the know-how and some free time I could take an episode of ReGenesis, jam it into an algorithm to generate extra frames and it would look infinitely better, someone in the future 100% will do one of them "4k 60fps upscale" clips and I guarantee the comments section will be full of people stunned by how much better it feels
kudos to them again for committing to the gore fully and keeping Colonel's death intact and uncensored because it is one of the most metal deaths in fiction - I can't recall any other instance of having your skeleton literally explode from your body
Man, Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again has some really bad animation and art direction choices that it's super distracting (I think even the sound design is fucked, but that might be how my laptop's speakers are positioned?), yet it's just such a sweet little idea. I dunno, I guess I just miss my grandparents a lot still while also hoping I'll be able to grow old with my husband, so it's bringing out a lot of conflicted feelings in me. I honestly have to take this anime at my own leisure, can't just binge it or the like. Happy to know it's self-contained, from the looks of it.

My biggest criticism with the remake is how dark everything is visually. Sure, one can say it's more realistic, but so much of the action is being hidden behind shaded and muted colours.
Tojima wants to be a Kamen Rider is good. Made me laugh way more than I thought it would. Saw people thirsting over Tackle which I can sympathize with, but I didn't bother giving the show a watch when it aired. Finished it, and I'd recommend it. Thankfully it isn't over. I think the latter half of the show can drag at times, it has some good moments but also multiple episodes focused on some pig monster streamer, so your mileage will vary. The first half of the show was great, the premise is interesting and I didn't expect the whole "shocker is real" plot. I thought it'd just be a comedy about people pretending to be Kamen riders and fighting other human villains, but nope the monsters are real. Ironically the best arc in the show imo was the mini-tournament arc where the wannabe Kamens fight each other. And it contains one of the few genuine subversions I've seen in shounen i.e. Tackle wins the entire tournament. Totally expected the final fight to be between V3 and Kamen.

though i haven't watched it fully, i figured/wished it would have been much more focused on the gpa/ma and the angst/romance there than having the whole family focus. i like the idea, the bittersweet ending, the grandpa's deal leading to it etc, but there's SO many ways it could have gone overall. personally i have low standards for most shit too production wise, but main thing is i wish they looked more distinct and didn't both keep white hair. resembles yosuga no sora or something.
angst isn't really the full direction, but there's a lot of room for emotional shit, them being young but places they remember not, wanting to stay younger with them for longer, potentially self sacrifice attempts to keep the wife/husband alive and "no idiot i don't want to be here without you" DAWWWWW shit. i feel like a little busters era Key production of that idea would have been a fuckin emotional BANGER with their psychological knowledge.

i partially agree with you. but let's be fair here, it's a unisex thing, though to varying degrees. i mean, look at stuff like fate. i can't even remember all the visual novels i played where a waifu would fuck you with a sword before anything else, and quite a few were fan favorites. roberta from black lagoon types, nearly the entire yandere fetish, a good deal of the dommy mommy/amazon fetish, etc.
and of course there's the basic unisex appeal thing of "i can fix them". if you have someone that seems very fucked in the head, subconsciously you may think "if i help them, then they're going to be super connected to me/basically owe me, be devoted to me" which is why a lot of stories play that off, and have like a complete psychopath yandere whore-bitch who winds up being a high tier partner to the protag/self insert.
again, fate's an easy mainstream example, and off the top of my head i believe all 3 main waifus have alt events where they kill the fuck out of shirou in very explicit, gory detail, and are mega fucking popular. type moon in general really, like tsukihime's even worse about that, they've got more "will literally fucking kill you" than "will fuck you". "werewolf tackles woman and brings her back to camp"/"amazon punches man in the gut and runs into the forest" is some popular shit, and some people want "werewolf goes a little ape shit"/"amazon is taking you back to camp whether you/your childhood friend fucking like it or not".

I appreciate the effortpost, but in the end I was just shitposting over a manga I was reading. I'm well aware that dudes will simp over Evil Women. Really, dudes have it better since no one really questions it when they do it, but women being attracted to "I can fix him" types always has a bunch of sociopolitical sperging over dangers of it and what it means.
I just found the scene from this manga I posted really funny for how extreme it all is. The girl in that story also deserved it too. She had the protag's entire village down to little kids brutally killed in front him and his pregnant sister gangraped to death, then she tried to mindbreak him into her sex slave and raped him, and when he refused to crack she burnt him at the stake, leading to him coming back from the dead to get his revenge. But unlike all his other targets that he's killed off, she's just so special to him as a target of his hate that he wants to keep her alive to keep abusing her forever, and so now she's been brought back to have a sad backstory reveal and redemption arc so she can be the main heroine.
So really, it's an "I can fix him" and an "I can fix her" both together at the same time!
I have a strong preference for ‘90s seinen anime like Space Adventure Cobra, Midnight Eye Goku and Golgo 13 The Professional. Those have just the right balance of sleaze and class.
