This thread is reminding me I should simply stop trying to watch anything new and at last catch on both Escaflowne and Now and Then, Here and There. I mean, there's anything decent this season above those two?
Looking at it this season is pretty barebones.

Liars Game looks interesting, there's that one anime about a fighting chicken...

There's also that new anime by the author of FMA. Yomi no Tsugai.

Other than that there's not a whole lot, JoJos Steel Ball Run is going on if you care about JoJos.

I've heard that Konosuba is good, but that's about it. But that faggy anime YouTuber Gigguk have been pushing isekai for years now, so it's just guilty by association.
Gigguk and his friends are wrong about anime the majority of the time. Ignore them.

Unironically nothing, maybe Nippon Sangoku for being a little more original than others. I was hoping Liar Game got better production, but other than that it's an average season.

Gigguk is a fag but don't let him alone sour you on the entire genre even though 99% of it is shit. And yeah, Konosuba is fantastic.

You are right, but I just get quite suspicious when something suddenly explodes in popularity and even more so when some cunts are hyping it up constantly.

Any isekai's that I should check out, apart from Konosuba ?

Konosuba blew up in popularity long before Gigguk covered it.

The Light Novels were already popular in Japan, the anime was pretty much immediately popular the moment it came out in January of 2016

Gigguks first video covering Konosuba happened in March of 2017.

Gigguk, AnimeMan and Cdawg are all grifters who hop on the popular thing to try and milk it for their popularity. They will hype something people are already hyping up because they're hoping they can gain cloute from it.

I just couldn't stand KonoSuba. Even while knowing it's a parody of isekai and JRPG elements, the characters are just way too retarded and annoying that it's absolutely pathetic. And I like cringe comedy, mind you.
Yeah it's very much not for everyone that I'll admit. The characters are terrible people and all of them are stupid as hell.

Megumin is at least relatively smart, even if she's a fucking chuniboyo. Kazuma, Darkness and Aqua are so stupid and greedy that they piss me off.

I can still enjoy it despite that but I can see why it would turn people away

God I miss Demo, his videos were the highlight of some of my more boring college weekends.
If you could forgive him for liking Evangelion he was easily the best anituber that there ever was.

That's the entire appeal though is that the characters are fucking weirdo losers who don't get away with it the way that other isekai protags do. They're awful people and/or degens and everyone around them knows it and judges them for it.

Oh yeah true. I'm just saying that I can get why some people would get to the first few episodes and stop because of the way the characters are.

Also, It just dawned on me that Inu Yasha is an isekai. I hesitate to recommend it, though, because of how long it goes on.
I'll always have a soft spot for it because it was the show that got me into anime, but even I will admit that it hasn't aged particularly well and it drags its feet like crazy in some parts.
Magic Knight Rayearth & El Hazard.
Good shows.

I get that. I'm just saying that there's a reason for that writing choice beyond just plain cringe humor. The characters act like they all have main character syndrome and it's portrayed as annoying to those around them unlike in other shows in the genre where they're just kind of given a pass. I don't know, I just like those moments in shows where a character gets big for their britches and someone just tells them to shut the fuck up.

Is it though? Kagome doesn't go to a different world, she travels through time to the Sengoku Period of Japan. Her family home is still on the same plot of land as the well that she comes out of.
It's not technically an isekai but it's arguable based on your definition of "other world". Personally I'll allow it to be counted since the time period that she travels to is not only wildly different (Warring States period Japan vs. 2007 Japan) but also because of the fantasy elements only existing in one of the time periods and not the other.

I thought Inu Yashas modern time period was the 90s?

Yeah looking it up, it starts when she's 15 in 1996

She eventually goes back to finish highschool in 2000 before the show ends and she ultimately decides to stay in the past.
