Please watch Ushio to Tora. It's a very good, underrated 90s monster of the week that while the OVA was never completed, MAPPA rebooted it gorgeously and kept the 90s style. I recommend the manga too. There's literally no fanbase for this and it's sad because it's so good.

There's a very small fanbase on Tumblr and AO3 (probably all from Tumblr anyway), but that's about it. It's too bad the show sadly went under a lot of people's radars when it first aired, and while it gained a bigger audience from the reboot, not many of the viewers stuck around with it and have become actual fans. I've been trying to be a fan, but the lack of a fanbase (and thus feedback) really is discouraging.

I do still have a small sliver of hope the manga may finally find its way out here because it really is a damn shame it was never licensed (ADV probably could've released the manga alongside the OVA). Also still waiting for Sentai to get a dub finished so it can be released, then I can finally get my friend to watch it since he liked the OVA and wanted more, but didn't want to deal with the subs.

I used to crank out UTT drabbles and art all the fucking time on Tumblr/AO3. Gay ass shit though lmfao. Idr if I kept them up or not, though. Still got a few old things hanging out on my laptop that were never published, maybe I'll get around to touching them up and putting forth a little more fan content if it'll breathe any new life into the few of us.

GOD, I know. I've been ITCHING for copies of the god damn manga. Other merch is fucking impossible too. Like those little plushies from the 90's? I've been searching my ass off for the one of Tora with the reflective eyes and these fucking exceptional things at the top for EVER. My one other qualm is they didn't have the equivalent of Comic Deformed Theater in the reboot... it was so damn cute.

Did you read Karakuri Circus or anything else from Kazuhiro?

Lol I might've run into your work. That reminds me that I should get back to working on the one-shot ideas I had developed and wanted to work on. 'Course it's shipping trash, but it's at least something, can't be too picky when part of a small fanbase. Also haven't drawn a Tora picture in like a year now.

OOH, I just checked and saw Sentai's releasing a big-ass boxset and regular Blu-Ray/DVD in August. Those prices though, holy cow.

Oh wow, those are... something. XD But good luck, though.

Eh, I think they only really worked as well as they did because it was the 90s. Doubt it'd have transitioned well today.

I have not, I chose to take a break from manga after that ending crushed me and after I tracked down the gaiden chapters, then I forgot to go look for them when I wanted to read some manga. But even then, I wasn't entirely sure if any of his other works have complete scanlations. Don't want to be left hanging and all that.

I've decided to put my Premium Crunchyroll account to more use and now I am a My Hero Academia fan (watched the first four episodes).

There's this streaming service called VRV that a few streaming sites kinda teamed up together to give you all their content on one site(apparently Crunchyroll created to lighten server loads or something). They have a combo pack deal where you pay like $8-10 a month and you get premium account status for these streaming services through their site/app.

Season 2 of Osomatsu-san arrives in October. I guess Miyu's studying abroad will be done soon, if it isn't already.

I wanted to watch that but then I remembered Pierrot did it.

Lmao Pierrot fucking depresses me. I've watched some of their older work not knowing it was them until the end credits or I look the anime up, and then I go "HOLY SHIT" and get sad. For heaven's sake, it's 2017, they should've been able to fix up their art instead of looking like they're still in the early-2000s. It's like after they went digital, their animation talent regressed.

Some of Pierrot back then (haven't seen Urusei Yatsura yet, didn't know what to show off):

(Couldn't find a lot .gifs of Tenamonya Voyagers.)

(I know it's a movie but holy shit they did Lily C.A.T too???)

I think Pierrot definitely has their moments. The final Naruto vs. Sasuke fight was way better animated than I expected at all, and surprisingly enough the Boruto anime has looked pretty consistently good since it's started airing.

Didn't one of their animators die from exhaustion while working on Naruto?

The only place near me that has manga is the public library, and they never have the volumes/series I want. I've been hunting for the original Attack on Titan volume 9, which they say they haven't got--not just "It's checked out," but "We don't have that," even though I saw it on the "new manga" shelf more than a month ago. They got rid of all the Monster Musume manga two weeks ago because "Oh, nobody was checking them out anymore." (I would have checked out all of them if you could find your "missing" copy of volume 5, you shits!) And despite not having any of the oldish manga I want, like Fruits Basket, they have frigging Zodiac P.I., which came out in like 2003 and sucks!
GAH! ...I'm sorry. I just had to get that off my chest. :(

Reading manga at libraries is a nightmare. The one I used to frequent was almost random as to what volumes they had... I vividly remember them having the first volume of Monster and the last five. Again, not 'we currently don't have them', but 'we don't have them at all'.

True that, though libraries weirdly enough have some odd collections that make you wonder how they came across them or who the donors were, and they also sometimes have out-of-print manga. I remember many years ago checking out the last manga volume of the Digimon manga simply because it was Digimon, but I had never heard of manga before at the time (believe this was just before being introduced to Fruits Basket). Nowadays, with Tokyopop having fucked off once and losing everything, the Digimon manga's sorely out-of-print and pricey, particularly the last volume and the 02 and Tamers volumes. I'm kicking myself over a library book even though I just know that the book would've been worn to shreds by now had we actually kept it.

But libraries have occasionally been good--my local library actually has a surprisingly-diverse anime selection outside of Dragon Ball Z and Naruto like Saint Seiya, Magical Witch Punie-Chan, one or two of the Gundam series (Bandai I think had a lot of the licenses), and Kiniro Mosaic to name a few off the top of my head. Too bad I don't have a library card lol XD. And since last year, my brother's been checking out the Cirque du Freak manga from his school library since they have all twelve volumes, which is nice because the manga's actually very well-done. So it's based off The Saga of Darren Shan, but I want to read those books now because of it.

Yeah, it's depressing how much Pierrot has fallen. Even disregarding Naruto (understandable as it's a long-runner), their animation has just spiraled downward in quality. And while I would have placed the blame on the industry itself, as you said, they've been going downhill once they hit the digital era. Not even Toei was hit that hard when they started using digital coloring.
