Yeah it was my first drop of the season. Sure it looked nice for a show that was delayed twice and has a fixed schedule due to how bad the production has been but its story and characters felt like a check box of every cliche of jap storytelling (oh everyone is an idiot but the MC? the holy knights are are MUH PRIDE allegories for Japanese nationalism? Oh and the church is evil? Daring today aren't we?). I'm at the state in my anime consumption where I need more than good animation to keep my attention.
Even the premise of a convict being forced to fight against an evil army for a crime he didn't actually commit was previously(and in a more interesting manner) in 86.
Same with Fairy tail's Mashima. Dude works 4 days a week and every assistant praises him. He one time put 3 chapers of FT in one week just because he could and another time juggled 2-3 weeklies for a month or so. Trash his stories how you want, but he is extremely efficient
With quantity that great it's no wonder the quality is uneven at best.

Nichijou is another, as are AnoHana, Blue Exorcist, and Deadman Wonderland and Future Diary hilariously enough. Also forgot Guilty Crown was that year; maybe that would've been the most talked about anime from 2011 were it not for Steins;Gate and Madoka (which I thought was 2010 until I glanced at the season).

Also saw Beelzebub came out 2011, I should just sit down and watch it since I have the Blu-Ray from a whim.
Other goodies i watched back in 2011 were Bunny Drop, Persona4 the ANIMATION, Tiger & Bunny, +tic Elder Sister and Is this a Zombie?

You right through, 2011 was fucking packed.

Eva's main theme is about human connection and trauma (or alternatively how autistic the average Japanese man is). You can set it as pure romcom and it would still work, it also helps that it has a pretty big cast and 24 episodes to (mostly) finish.
But that's exactly my point, the actual setting is irrelevant to the main theme of isolation and human interaction hence why nothing that has come after End of Eva has expanded upon it and Shinji is still at the forefront of it all hell the main reason why so many people despise the Rebuilds is because they've strip any sort of nuance and depth from the cast just so that they can appeal to modern audiences.

The main cast is memorable but you can't really expand on them too much.
Homura and Sayaka are the only memorable characters in the franchise. Madoka is a plot device. Kyubey and Mami are meme characters. Nobody gives a fuck about Kyoko. You're right that nothing can be done to expand upon them without them becoming props like the Eva cast.

Fate was a franchise before GO due to Nasu's massive autism. Wonder why no one tries to take old LN like Magical Index and make a gacha on them.
Fate was pretty niche up until Ufotable's Fate/Zero adaptation brought it mainstream appeal but the concept was strong enough that it had multiple spin-offs before GO like Extra. Probably because Index is problematic with the abundance of loli shit surrounding it and let's face it pretty dated now. While I hate GO and that fact that Nasu will never write anything to the level of autistic wonder like Tsukihime and KnK again I can say that Fate as a franchise isn't as stagnant as what Index is now.

Fate got the Deen adaptions early on, but i agree Ufotable is what hit them into the stratosphere. Which is a shame, i actually defend the Deen adaptions to some extent. They had a limited budget, and with the movie, only a hour and a half to tell a entire route. The Fate route deserves better, but i see why Ufotable never remade it, having played the game.

Feels like those adaptation got memoryholed to oblivion, they're definitely not good adaptations but there's some good aspects to it that I feel are better than Ufotable like the music for one. Ufotable will be busy milking Demon Slayer for all its worth before they come crawling back to Fate and Cloverworks is stuck with GO, I predict we'll get a Fate VN remake before the Fate route ever gets adapted.

Oh Ufotable is busy for the next few years at least, possibly until 2030 if you assume a year between movies. They still need to make the Witch on the Holy Night adaption. I assume they'll do that before going onto the big project that is Genshin Impact.

As for the Deen adaptions getting memory holed, sorta. They recently re released them on blu ray in the last few years. I have both. Unless and until they make a new Fate adaption (doubt), they seem content with Deen's since it gets the story across, even if there is non canon junk in there.

After the so so job of UBW and the trash heap of HF, I'm not sure it'd be a good thing unless they gave Nasu all writing control for that. They will fuck up the forest scene. You just know they will after somehow fucking up Nine Lives, which they already managed to do well enough in a goddamn VN trailer a decade back at this point. Plus, I can see them completely missing the point of the basement scene. Catastrophically fucking so. These are the same people who don't understand Shirou's survivor's guilt, so how are they going to resolve that?

If its any consolation, they said they weren't going to when they started adapting the routes. Which is fair. They would have retreaded a lot of ground from the UBW adaption if they did it now.

Nasu still approved all those changes from the re-release and is clearly distancing himself from all the more "out there" elements of the franchise now so even if he's given control we'll never get a fully faithful adaptation. Also I'm sure Nasu is busy working on the second part of the Tsukihime remake....lmao

Which was years ago and Fate still makes an obscene amount of money. Not holding my breath by given how greedy Aniplex is theyre probably saving up for another movie trilogy based on the Fate route in a glass ready to break.

I mean everything from Ufotable is just on hold for a while, but i could see that. Might get a major release now a days given the success of Demon Slayer from the studio.

After ten years of FGO, I lack any real faith in the mushroom anymore.

Red Garden never.

I will admit I like the parts that are especially classic Nasu. He managed to make Roa into one of my favorite Nasuverse characters with more narrative from his perspective. And, let me just say it outright, Ciel's route should've been Noel's. How the fuck does Ciel get a pass for the shit she did as a vampire and Noel doesn't? Come on, Nasu.
