Goddamn, Loid is jacked af on SxF! People are complaining the plot is moving at a snail's pace. Doesn't bother me. Its an action comedy thriller with slice of life thrown in.

They announced recently that Satoshi Kon's films are getting 4K upgrades. Hope it isn't with AI. Be nice if the documentary could be released in English.

There is also an episode of a show from the 70s....I don't remember the name...going viral. Episode 12 was banned for atomic related shenanigans. Someone found the original copy and uploaded it.

Ultraman, right? Does this mean the official U.S. release never actually included episode 12?

did they actually have better matchlocks or is this a revisionist thing where this super gigabrain jap invented it or some shit?
Oh hell nah, they used matchlocks for almost 350 years. The west was far ahead in gun development by the 1800s - matchlocks being a thing from a museum. With all their open-close-open bullshit, japs ended up far behind. A random farmer with a Winchester would fuck up a jap with a matchlock very easily.

The thing is: matchlocks were useful and suited the japanese way of war, so there was no necessity of another kind of gun. They prioritized accuracy: the lack of a violent recoil made it easy to position the weapon on your cheek instead of your shoulder, making the gun more accurate and easy to fire.

in that case it might not be as big of jap wish fulfillment as i thought since the series starts in 1620 and what little I know about euro firearms is flintlocks should be a relative new invention and would take a few more years before they where seen in regular use by other countries. And for places like the Holy Roman Empire it took even longer since it was the "Holy" ""Roman"" """Empire""".
Riffling and percussion caps I think where mid to late 1700s and I believe that when the black ships rolled up revolvers and bolt action firearms where just becoming commonplace.

THIS IS WHAT LOCALIZERS AND THEIR SUPPORTERS ACTUALLY BELIEVE

No wonder so many characters in English subs and dubs of anime and games are being written as the same carbon copy smarmy, abrasive sarcastic cunt .

When binged it's fine, it's just harder to stomach weekly waits

Look at him an adonis. Ah.

I need to continue watching Maison Ikkoku. I can't remember where I left off...it was definitely in the 20s. Or 30s. And then read the manga again. The whole miscommunication about the wedding due to a loud train plot was stupid yet weirdly charming?

Finally finished Stone Ocean before the year ends. It's alright, I guess. I had hopes for more slice of life like Part 4 but alas. Not sure if I will read SBR when all volumes will be finally available in the English hardcover editions. Not sure if I can stomach more of Araki's bullshit.

JoJos isn't a bad series necessarily, but that fucking smarmy hype about it wasn't really justified.

Final ranking for the parts :
2->4->6->3->5->1

Josee is modern slop and I'm tired of pretending it's not. If I can track down the original short story, I'd like to see what changes were made to modernize it since it was written back in the '80s.

Was better than I Wanna Eat Your Pancreas, but not by much.

It's shit. And the people who like it still think the next one is awful. (I don't especially, but that's mainly because it's more restrained; SBR aims higher and fails harder but they both epitomise some of the worse issues the series has). Get off now if you're past the point of even enjoying hate-reading it.

For future reference, when people read jojo they are doing it ironically.

jojo peaked with part 4

I actually can't believe historie is getting an anime, I remember the old threads when hox used to live translate the series which has to be a good 10-15 years old now
Filter looks dumb but I'll give it credit for not redesigning the characters like Parasyte or being a cg mess.
Sadly I don't think this will encourage iwaaki to come back since his health has been declining for a long time and the last hiatus announcement he all but said he has to wrap up the series sooner rather than later, which sucks because their are so many events in Alexander the great and Eumenes history that would of been great to see in the manga.
