recently watched the apothecary diaries
the writing is not super deep or anything, just some short detective cases that are solved with trivia
but the world is all around interesting & believable, i didnt notice any subversive propaganda in it and its generally very well executed
sadly suffers a lot from main character syndrome, but that becomes slightly better in the second season
its lighthearted entertainment and very cute, i rate 6.5/10

most new stuff seems to suck massive ass tho, there was always a load of shit but wtf all this fucking isekai demon lord videogame garbage is a deeper level of the latrine
any recommends for new-ish stuff that doesnt suck?

Have you seen how they animate their shows? Like for example Chainsaw Man. Better yet, did you see all of Attack on Titan and not feel something was off between seasons 1 to 3 vs. season 4 in terms of animation.
 
Holy shit the ending for the last Hero and Assassins episode, wonder if it will be back to status quo after this.

I don't accept it, that's already one exception. It's probably easier (keyword Cheaper) to do which is why they do it. Nowadays I find digging into the past for animu as enlightening as doing it for games. Like some post-apocalypse scavenger seeking anomalous materials for big rewards.

I want to ask about Crayon Shin Chan. How like.. graphic is it? I have read that the FUNimation team pulled a Ghost Stories with the dub, causing it to be acclaimed (and an early role for Laura Bailey). But my understanding is that the original Japanese version was just as lewd because it caused a bunch of complaints from parents in Glorious Nippon. I recall that the character appeared in Sailor Moon where he mooned Chibiusa (?)

I get the vibe it's South Park esque. I also know that he's apparently celebrated as a mascot. AND there's a cozy type video game about a vacation he stars in.

I am hoping its funny but not just because the dub flips it upside down.

i hate these unnecessary movements they make now, chink cartoons was always a single picture for seconds while stuff happens, and it always worked great
now they have a shitty animation for breathing, and a shitty animation for moving the arm or whatever
and all those look far more unnatural than the still pictures of old did
they fuck up inertia

It's nothing like South Park, as for graphic, Shinnosuke moons people and takes his dick out pretty often, I guess if you're some kind of extreme prude you could be uncomfortable with that.
I have no idea what the Funimation dub is like, but it sounds like shit, so I'll just describe what the show is generally like: humor based on middle class Japanese family life, humor based on kids doing stupid stuff, sprinkled with some wholesome moments here and there (which is why stuff like the game is marketed as cozy, something that would be impossible if this was like South Park or even The Simpsons).

Apparently this is from a recent episode. Anyway you sold me on Shin Chan. I'll try to find some episodes to watch.
