The eyecatch is as important to anime as the OPs are, and if they wanted to do a cute eyecatch, that was their choice. If they couldn't be arsed to put in a proper timed commercial break, that's on them.

Besides, it's super common for there to be a dissonance in emotional moments because you may still be bawling your eyes out over something that happens in the anime in the second half/causes a cliffhanger and because it's the end of the episode, you get the ED--and it's an upbeat pop song. And you still can't stop crying. *coughCLANNADcough*

You say that but the eye catch thing isn't in every anime and not in the original 1979 version if I remember correctly. Adding such a thing there completely ruins the moment and because its not the end of the episode and its a quick thing it's not like an ED where you can choose to skip it and just think about the actual end. This happens in the middle of the episode. it doesn't let it simmer like it should. If CLANNAD decided to turn 2 episodes into 1, they would cut out the ED in the cliffhanger and not have the super upbeat ED in the middle of that moment and the episode. Anything else would be a ridiculous choice just like this was.

FMA:B for instance during dramatic moments had the speech itself omitted for the purposes of maintaining the mood. Before green gables could've done it differently or had another version animated for the more sour moments.
Kinos journey 2003 has the eyecatch thing be generic enough to work with whatever mood the show is giving off at any given moment.

I don't get the point of "This was their choice" of course it was? And it was a choice that made the anime worse and drastically hurt its more sad moments.

"it's important to anime" is also not really a point at all. I'm the end consumer watching it, I don't particularly care about the business aspects it's their job to make the experience good for me while balancing the business part in the background. If their business choices hurt the product then the product is worse.

The eyecatch bumper is well made when a viewer that is already watching isn't thinking twice about it being there. Before green gables fails this.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. It's by studio Trigger. Infinetly better than the game.
negative, if you didn't play it after the Phantom Liberty expansion you need to go back
Cyberpunk is one of the ten best video games I have ever played and The Heist is the single greatest questline in any video game ever
Edgerunners is very good though, it's a tear jerker. It's as good as The Heist questline.

edit: idk how you could participate in the offrenda of your best friend's funeral and be comforted by his mother and react to that post with the 'lunacy' sticker you guys really need to play that video game they really did unfuck it you will NOT regret it. You can visit the graves of the deceased characters from Edgerunners in the game and visit every single location shown in the anime

Probably an unpopular opinion. I tried to get into Jojo again after hearing about how good SBR is and this is the introduction of the main character on the second page.

Wtf?

I loved the original so much I went and saw another one they made in 2009 called Anne before the green gables pretty much right after, based on another book in the series, with the same artstyle and everything.
It's not as interesting as anne of green gables but worst of all it made an absolutely atrocious choice that I can't believe it made it through production. And that is the announcement of before and after a commercial would air. Look at this shit, why would they ruin the mood like this? How can anyone take the sad moments seriously with this. It's a real shame too because I did feel like they changed the artstyle to much with the 2025 remake.

Like Kari said, eyecatches have been a staple for decades. Yes it can be jarring (iirc look at the episode of Sailor Moon where Uranus and Neptune are killed by Eudial) but they're there for a reason. In fact most cartoon based programming on television has them.

Speaking of Yu Gi Oh, I recently discovered one of the kids from Little House on the Prairie voices in one of the series. Matthew Laborereux who played Albert on the show. I am surprised to find this out lol.

Watching Classicaloid. I know jack shit about music composition and composers and the genre in general beyond stuff like Beethoven being deaf and possibly a nigga (or is that Mozart?) but the show is fun. They substitute Chopin's deathly illness as instead him being a shut-in. Liszt is female and voiced by Emma Ai herself, Mamiko Noto. Mozart is a flamboyant dumbass, and Beethoven aka Tomokazu Sugita is obsessed with dumplings. Its cute and fun and colorful as hell. Did people sleep on this series?

Beethoven being a black man was a fake thing that niggas on internet though it was real. It doesn't help with so called academia researchers also push for an agenda.
Technically, Classicaloid aren't exactly human nor the original people, not all the traits are inherited. Like with Tchaiskovky is now an anime girl (Tchaiko), so "him/her" having a crush on Bach is less gross to most viewers. Something something historical evidences, Tchaiskovky was gay.

This isn't a good point. Not only am I not saying eyecatches shouldn't exist, I am saying this particular eyecatch in this specific anime was done badly. And it was. And the point against it is "well other anime has it" or "it's tradition" but two shows can do the same tradition and one can fail at it. Not all eyecatches are created equal.

As a man with cock and balls (massive btw), is Fruits Basket worth watching?
Absolutely. I would rather recommend you watch the original 2001 anime and just read the manga, though. The 2019 remake sadly dropped the ball in its third half because it had to take out a few things to not piss off modern audiences and rushed to get to the end.
