I remember when I first saw it on tumblr and everyone acted like "Ughhh.... not this shit again", now I look back today and see people making tons of posts about this show.
It's one of those shows where if you're not familiar with the source material, you expect something completely generic and uninteresting. I'm guessing it's coming as quite the surprise to anyone who hadn't read the manga and knew what kind of humor to expect.

I have been seeing cutie-pie gifs of that Dragon Maid show around all over the place and I feel like I need to watch it soon. My hype level for moe dragon loli is over the top, mang.

I did a dumb thing and downloaded all of Initial D. All the mangas and all the animes. I have no idea if I can survive watching that much Initial D. But I will do my best.

Keep us updated on how that goes. I've also been thinking of starting Initial D after hearing that kickass "Gas Gas Gas" (which I found out doesn't play until Fifth Stage).

Currently on Chapter 47 of Gunslinger Girl. Does the scanlation get any better, or should I grit my teeth and buy the manga instead?

Kuzu no Honkai (Scum's Wish) is really good this season. It's essentially a soap opera and hentai
but the characters feel real and their motivations are well explained. it's really dark for a story about young unrequited love, and damn that ED fresh.

I've recently started re-watching Inuyasha. I forgot how great it was, even with its flaws taken into account.

I remember when Inuyasha was practically the most popular anime in the American fandom. Now everyone's moved onto the newer stuff (first it was Naruto, then Bleach, Hetalia, Attack on Titan, One-Punch Man, etc.) and people either have forgotten about Inuyasha or look at it with disdain.

To think that 2005 was twelve years ago, damn....

Also Black Lagoon is fucking awesome and is my all-time favorite seinen anime.

Didn't they release a sequel series once the manga ended to wrap up the series or something like that?

Going to be wrapping up Clannad pretty soon and moving on to After Story right after. Wanted to give slice of lifes another try, so here I am. So far, nothing magic, nothing tragic.

Pray tell fellow Kiwis. Is After Story truly all it's cracked up to be or is it overhyped as fuck? I'm going to commit to watching it either way. Want to form my own opinion.

I'm so happy you'll continue watching. The first season has its share of faults like it has its share of great moments, but After Story fixes all of that. I hope you weren't spoiled of anything, that'd be the real tragedy. When you finish it, there's an option of watching an episode-by-episode review of After Story by Will Ryan of Animerica. 'Tis a very good watch imo.

You have no idea how super excited I am to know you've been watching it, CLANNAD is my all-time favorite series. Like I'd say it's my number one when it comes to anything, especially romance, I hold it that high on a pedestal, personally. Nothing's come close, but that's probably because it hits me real close to home and I adore it to death. It's one of those series in which I feel like everyone should see at least once.

It's also one of the very few anime I've watched with both my parents and grandparents--twice with my mother. It's that good.

I've started watching Shimoneta on Funimation's YouTube channel(and I have NO fucking clue how they managed to keep it on there) and and enjoying the hell over how absurdly hilarious it is. All I can really say is...

There's a newer show from last year called Kyokai no Rinne. From the writer of Inuyasha and even if I didn't tell you that you could probably figure it out. Should be on CR. And it's not 200 episodes long.

A while ago I rewatched gundam wing and g gundam (the shows that got me into anime) and damn they're like 52 episodes each who has time for that anymore?

I didn't think I'd enjoy Shimoneta as much as I did, it was almost like it was made for me lol. The novelty did wear off a little bit, though not as much as it did with other people (I don't blame them, honestly), and I hated that it's only 12 episodes long. And with the controversy that surrounded it when it aired, and the unfortunate premature death of Miyu Matsuki, I doubt it's getting another season.

It's getting a third season here in April that'll probably also be 25 episodes long. The Japanese audience loves this series, so I won't be surprised if it does end up becoming 200 episodes long total by the end of it all. I personally found it a snorefest. I mean, I didn't mind the first half of the first season, but when I realized how episodic it was and that the romance (if you dare call it that) clearly wasn't going to go anywhere, I got bored of it. I'm most likely just going to wait until this season finishes airing so I can have a playlist to use as white noise as I draw since my completionist ass is not going to let me skip it.

It definitely took turns I wasn't expecting for what seemed like just a comedy series with a goofy premise at the start. I'm still holding out hope for a second season though. Both the manga and the light novels kept going, so the material is there.

Actually pretty much my thoughts exactly. I went from loving it to eh. Love that Inuyasha vibe tho.
