No, it sucks ass. You can watch all the good parts of Gate in like a 5 minute compilation and maybe go scroll a booru since the girls in Gate are cute too. The first episode is actually the best, since at that point you can still imagine that it won't be insultingly stupid with a setting and plot that the writer didn't think through for more than two seconds before they cranked another one out to the cute girls.

It get's carried only by it's concept and turns into another crap harem anime including several "ACKTUALLY she is 1000 year old" scenes. The MC and his harem of generic isekai waifus are essentially the second worst part of it only topped by the subplot which is about a literal child wanting to marry a japanese adult.

Would Gate work if it also had a female lead JSDF officer with a reverse harem? And would there be as much backlash if there was an older woman engaged to an underaged boy in this plot?

Was Matt theswitcher? One of the features is gonna be one of the Street Fighter Stupidity montages. I hate Arin too but he has archival materials from the show that they're using. Plus he's a guest so hopefully he's only in like a few episodes and not the entire thing.

I didn't even know about the show until ADV released it. I'm surprised USA Network even had an animation block in the 1990s.
 
Does anybody remember the Funimation Channel? If you had an exclusive premium package through Verizon, there were anime that were airing most of the times of the day and they were all dubbed for better or for worse. This was during the early 2010s and I think sometime around 2014 or so it got cut off the air. It is weird because a lot of the shows there are shit that nobody really discusses online or outside, shit like Buso Reinken, Solty Rei but they did have popular shit like Soul Eater (relatively popular). They played the same shows most of the time and the same bumpers but I was really young watching most of it and I just have really fond memories or something like that.

All of the completed shows that have ever aired in the network.

So yeah, Funimation and dubbed anime is shit in general these days but this era was something I'd tell you. You had to be there lol.

Holy shit! Forgot this even existed! Only remember just a few frames though when watching it on TV but outside lf the stupid big head of the bad guy don't remember much. Might give it a watch for shits and giggles.

On more standard topic fare, on a whim decided to watch Bubblegum Crisis. First time seeing it and on episode 4. It's not setting my world on fire but I'm still inclined to stick with it. And well, just the style of it is very nostalgic.
 
Btw, might as well ask this here. What the fuck happened to the Japanese Yen? I was used to the 100 yen to dollar conversion rate, but 150 yen to a dollar is fucking brutal.
