I have yet to see Aqua demonstrate any genuine redeeming virtues other than her occasional utility (which usually has massively detrimental side effects).
She brings Kazuma back from the dead so that we can continue the series.
i don't think anyone here cares about bleach
A fun, if slightly embarrassing story of my youth. The first web forum I ever joined was a AU Bleach Roleplaying Board way back in the day.

Up until the latter half of the Hueco Mundo arc I never missed an episode and read the manga as each new chapter came out.

Unfortunately, despite being like 15 at the time, it occurred to me that the entire plot of the Hueco Mundo Arc was literally just the same thing as the previous Soul Society Arc on this time it was Orihime in captivity instead of Rukia and I couldn't be bothered to give a single shit about the worst girl in the series.

And also the RP board I was on died, so I was forced to go to another, and then soon realized I didn't need to keep up with the storylines as long as I had the gist of what was happening and how the power scaling was working.

It's amazing just how hard and quickly Bleach falls off. Shit needs to be studied. Before the modern disappointments, there was Bleach. And for some godforsaken reason, there are fans that will defend it to the death. I summed up my thoughts when it was last discussed a year or two ago
You think it's cool and then you grow up, really think about it, and figure out none of it really makes any sense. From Aizen's plans, Soul Society, the Vizards, Urahara, and why Yoruichi is a fucking cat. When you realize Ichigo wins every major fight using the exact same story beats and asspulls, you just can't enjoy the story anymore. It's just bad. And unironic Bleach fanboys are some of the most retarded people. People pretending like Bleach is good now is the most embarrassing shit. The Thousand Year Blood War doesn't make any sense and literally comes out of fucking nowhere.
there it is

Burnout does fucked up things to people, even on short term burnouts. I'm at the tail end of what's about to be a $2,000,000 bid for the electrical portion of an apartment in Massachusetts, and after 7 hours of data entry I have such a hard time focusing on the job to the point that its almost better to stop working entirely today rather than press on. (I'm gonna press on and suffer anyway).

Pretty sure Tite Kubo was burned the fuck out and they had him keep going. Its probably why Hueco Mundo is virtually the same as the Soul Society Arc. I can understand why it turned out that way, but that doesn't mean its good or that I'm going to read it.

That's part of the utility I mentioned. As a person, she has no virtues.
I mean maybe not to the audience, but isn't she like a top tier gaslighter of people who don't know her? She's decent at making people do shit for her up until they realize she's shit.

Also unrelated to any replies I had a friend get to the final episode of Oshi No Ko last night and meet Crow Girl and ask me who she was. It was a great conversation:

"Who's this Crow Girl." - She's a literal deity, Tsukiyomi in fact.

"Wait they're introducing god shit to this anime?" - Yeah but don't worry if you take Tsukiyomi out of the story, literally nothing changes.

"Wait? What do you mean nothing changes." - She does nothing of consequence. The story gets really bad from here on out.

"Oh. Well does Aqua at least end up with Kana instead of this manipulative cunt Akane?" No, Aqua dies alone in the freezing cold, miserable, and regretting all of his life choices.

"Wait? What?" Oh yeah, Aqua commits suicide for no reason. Also Akane lives the rest of her life knowing she failed to save the one person she cared about. Kana has to deal with having never gotten to confess her feelings to Aqua because he literally leaves her emails unread, and Ruby who wanted to be an Idol that didn't lie to everyone now lives a life lying to everyone to cover up the crippling pain of everyone she knows having died or moved on without her.

"Fucks sake man."

I dropped Bleach partially through Hueco Mundo for many of the same reasons others have listed. That, and Bleach is the very definition of "all style, no substance". It's basically you go from one cool looking thing to another cool looking thing with very little rhyme or reason or thought put into it really.

There's also the personal matter that Kubo didn't anything cool with Tatsuki. She kinda saw that one hollow that was at Orihime's, almost making it seem like she had some sort of ability. This gets teased a few more times here and there in a few later arcs only for it to go ultimately nowhere. Kinda happens with a few other characters, too, if my memory serves me right. The last time I had anything to do with Bleach was over a decade or so, after all.

it's not like any of the side-characters introduced in the first arc ever do anything of importance
even chad, the supposed strongest, is just fodder

I am keeping up with Bleach for two reasons. I want to see how certain fights will be animated (Nigger Sniper vs Shunsui, Lethal Dose Guy vs Urahara and Yoruichi, Yhwach vs Ichigo and Aizen) and if they are going to pull an anime original ending and try to unfuck the manga ending. I highly doubt the last part though considering how the last half of this arc is a massive trainwreck. Other than those reasons I would not have bothered watching this arc.

I will say that the animation is nice and looks like they have a decent budget to work with even when there are scenes where the CGI could have been polished up a bit. At least this will be a nicly animated trainwreck to watch.

Any good sci-fi light novel recommendations? No romance faggotry is preferred, and good worldbuilding is a must. Maou 2099, Heavy Object, and Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere seem interesting.

Never read any of the novels but the Heavy Object anime was pretty good

Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere
Horizon is one of the most interesting, creative, expansive, thought-out, and ambitious series to ever come from the world of light novels.

It is also trash. Plenty of people still like it a lot and I'll readily admit that it sure as hell kept to the style and tone it was going for, but to me it's probably the greatest example of missed/wasted potential. It's just really, really, dumb.

The anime is also very much a sink-or-swim experience, with a lot of events relying on nonsensical rules that are not explained at all in the anime (I presume they are in the LNs, but no way I'm devoting the time to seeing if they are).
