War bad this, war bad that,
"MUH WAR BAD", That's basically any war drama anime
The best anti war movies to me are the most gritty one like Threads, Dead Man's Letters, Come and See. I love LOGH, Gundam or anti war Miyazaki movies, but none of these made me think as much about potential conflict and it's consequences as Threads did. I don't mean that it has the best writing I have ever seen in any media, but the depiction of what happens to society after nuclear war just lefts you with this long post movie depression.

Watch this NAOWWWWWWWW

Even if you're not into faggotry (which is basically nonexistent in here anyway), it's a nice arthouse music video with great music, cool-looking characters, and dark, edgy aesthetics.

I'm shocked Viz still has this in their catalogue because no fucking way they would've licensed this ten years ago. We peaked in entertainment and culture/society back in 2007 because tranny jokes were acceptable then.

Oh right, the plot.

Rando Masashi was in a horrific bus crash that caused his face to burn off, and the doctor who saved him gave him a girl's face because the only form of identification on him was a picture of the girl he had a crush on, Rina Kurimi. It turns out Rina is a twin, and her sister, Yuna, had ran away from home years prior, so now to save his balls, he has to pretend to be the sister until he finds the real Yuna and get the tranny-chasing doctor to change his face back. Hilarity ensues.

Should've gotten an anime adaptation when it had the chance, because should some studio decide to adapt it for whatever reason (there's been an uptick in 2000s manga getting attention), this story is going to get fucked in the West. It's too bad, I envision Kirk Thornton as Rando normally and either Veronica Taylor or Mona Marshall for his "female" side.

I think I've found peak weebsubs:

This is from Rouran. The most interesting thing about it so far is the defense organization's robot. Also Rouran herself is literally Iczer-1; I'm surprised how similar she is.

The schizoautism has taken over and I've conceptualized a better ending to oshi no ko

The one prior change is a change to Tsukimogumogugami whatever she's called's role. Here she now revives Aqua and Ruby specifically to put them in a position of "power" and offer them a wish, because in this setting gods exist to make sure history keeps being made or some shit. You could make it some statement about celebrities being the royalty of the modern era or whatever.
Anyway, either Ruby's already used her wish, or there's only one wish between them and they've agreed to let Aqua use it, whatever. The slander-movie is almost finished, getting ready to be released. Aqua has been biding his time, doing as much as he can with his own hands to save the wish for the most pivotal moment, and is now planning to use it to make sure the movie has the most impact possible. But what's this? The man they hated without any understanding is slowly turning out to be a victim of his own tragedies and not like what they made up in their minds at all. Aqua keeps making excuses to himself to justify his continued hate- oh he didn't literally send a stalker to kill mom but he's indirectly responsible!- but even his will is breaking.
Finally just days before the movie wraps, Aqua ends up meeting with his father on a cliff overlooking the beach and like hypes himself up convincing himself he was right, this guy just has to be evil, bringing a knife to kill he man right there and then if he can... and he finds a man terrified of being rejected but clearly overwhelmed with happiness to finally meet his and Ai's child. The grown man (yet way younger than he should be) before him trembling yet hopeful blows away any last delusion Aqua was clinging to, and he asks himself... what the fuck am I doing? I'm about to ruin this man's life for like the third time, all because of the hateful image I've clung to! No matter what he does now the movie will still be moving forward and turning this man into a pariah in the eyes of the public. Overwhelmed with guilt, Aqua turns the knife on himself and plunges over the edge. (You can make this the cliffhanger of a chapter and make it look at first like he attacked Hikaru and there was a struggle, but actually Hikaru tried to stop him.)
Hikaru barely manages to drag Aqua to the shore, but collapses. Tsukumogomogugami appears, looking down on Aqua who barely clings to consciousness. Your life is fading, she says, so it would be waste if you didn't use it now- what do you wish for? Aqua looks at his drowned father beside him, coughs up blood and seawater, then chokes out- please save my father. Tsuku smirks- as you wish. As Hikaru stirs back to life, Aqua's vision fades to darkness...
The news erupts. Hikaru is Aqua and Ruby's real father! There was a struggle to the death on the cliffside! All sorts of rumors abound, with many connecting them to the upcoming movie about Ai, believing that Hikaru father bad is what the movie was trying to tell them, therefore it must be true. The main cast reels in shock- Aqua stabbed Hikaru? Hikaru stabbed Aqua?? Is Aqua dead?? Panic is erupting, and then-
Aqua wakes up in the hospital. Because what really happened after he blacked out, and how the father information really got out, was thus- Hikaru carried him to town and cried out, please save my son! hory shit. Hikaru is probably sleeping in a chair in Aqua's hospital room, watching over him. Despite everything the man just wants a chance to care for his children.
Aqua realizes what a cunt he's been. His "accident", however it ends up perceived by the public (possibly correctly, as a suicide attempt that his father stopped, minus the part where he tried to kill Hikaru at first, possibly plus some assumption about the sort of mental stress he was under as a child star) gives him an excuse to pull the plug on the slander movie at the last moment, leaving it shelved. The public might be able to put together the general truth, that is was a smear campaign aimed at someone who turned out to be innocent, but they'll never know for sure. Or they believe it was an attempt by the twins to contact their father and it was pulled because they managed to, you know, contact him.
Everyone moves on. Aqua might retreat from the public eye, could even use the hospital thing to pivot to medicine again like oh these people who saved my life really inspired me. At any rate, the Hikaru family, such as it is, half brother included, is now together and ready to start healing. Tsukumogumogugami looks down upon them taking the first trembling steps towards a happier life and makes some remark about the smaller changes in people's lives being just as impactful as the major ones, then turns into a crow and fucks off. The four family members pile into a car and go on a road trip (half brother is not allowed to drive because he crashed the car that one time). An open-ended, maybe some what bittersweet with a leaning towards sweet ending.

Now I don't think it'd be that hard to make something better than what we got but man this really feels better.

It really depends. It's not like decades of those films in the USA made the population or government docile, more like having them be anti war unless the elites say they should and then it's okay.

War is bad is just a shitty empty faggot moral, no fucking shit it's bad but if you want peace, prepare to war.
I’ve read a few essays like “Give War a Chance”. (https://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/give-war-chance)

The entire pacifist mentality for Justice is very, very faux moral to me. The idea that harming someone is never justified sets alarms off in my mind. I’m not entirely against the death penalty or corporal punishment. I don’t think life in prison really fixes anyone, if you think they are a danger than make sure you carry out a fair trial and send them to God to sort out.

This isn't a political thread, but I'm gonna chime in and say that under no terms should the Japanese apologize for anything they did wrong in WW2. Doing so would make them look like a welcome mat for all sorts of opportunistic "victims" of crimes that are almost a century old at this point. If you are in favor of Japan apologizing, I have one question for you: are you also in favor of paying reparations to black people in America for slavery? If so, kindly keep out of my hobby. Miyazaki can eat a bag of dicks.

Anyways, back on topic. I'm a big fan of the Dandadan manga. Does the anime adaption capture the insane beauty and dynamism that exists on the page? Or am I better off skipping it?

I'm up to date with the manga and enjoying the anime quite a bit. I'd suggest watching an episode or 2 and see if you like it's style.

Is this manga as popular as they've been saying?
1732244842725.png

All I've been hearing is that it's still pedobait and that one of the characters is so hated that he practically ruined the manga.

Next thing you can expect is almost everything getting curated and obstructed locally on Japan (while they used to be only be able to do so through VAs) and a LOT of stuff (e.g. Overlord which has a lot of bizarre non-kosher stuff even for Kadokawa standards, the Nikke manga on Corocoro if they ever get SKK as well which is an inevitable if they do get Kadokawa). Pretty much anything deemed heresy for United Nations standards is going to be dismantled and curated VERY quickly.
Time to make our own anime industry? Hookers, blackjack etc

I don't even think you can, there is a reason why people can't make their own sitcoms or Game of Thrones.

The sad thing is Sony already has the anime industry before 4 kids ruined One Piece and could already ruin it if they want to. (Or they already went to curate it in a way that the Japs would never notice it given they cannot try anything too explicit yet.)

Just an extra note Oshi no Ko's anime is handled by Kadokawa, so there is a chance where if it gets brought by Sony they'll make Ruby marry Kana and identify herself as Aqua (to prove an agenda). They might also adapt it through Aniplex which (oddly) isn't known for explicit political correctness or revisionism unlike SIE, though.

Sony in talks to buy manga and game publisher Kadokawa (archive)

Could be a disaster for a huge chunk of the manga market, as well as some anime. I focus on the manga.

Here are some they have published:
I doubt this will make any real difference. People are concerned about anime and manga being censored, but this is already happening.
Yoko Taro, the guy who made Nier Automata, came out and spoke against western payment processors forcing Japanese companies to censor anime and manga with adult content.
1732254818236.png
This comes after a Japanese manga hosting platform known as Manga Library Z was forced to shut down after western payment processors cut off their service for hosting adult content. It started with them being pressured into removing works with certain words, escalating to having their service cut off even after complying, making it impossible for them to pay manga authors.
This isn't the first time either, it's occurred with several other Japanese companies as well.
All that Sony buying Kadokawa will do is further accelerate the cultural decay Japan is going through because of western influence.

Problem with anti-war is that they never name the true perpretrators. I am 99.9% sure that most wars are either human institutions taking down another human insitution because they were already shit corrupt (or are on the process to) or the Jews doing ritual human sacrifice. Usually right now, you can expect it to be the latter.

It makes a lot of sense about why you cannot get away with the lucky star or (early) Inuyasha sort of stuff after a certain point while before 2013 you can get away showing much worse in Japanese TV. If Gushing Over Magical Girls was in 2005 then they could even show Nero Alice in a micro bikini and actually get away with it.

I found it extra hypocritical for credit card companies to do that while the Vatican has entire harems of boys -- the same massive religious-industrial complex doing the same thing for a millennia. We haven't moved past the middle ages because something stops us from doing it and is threatening to spread the middle ages way to the rest of the world.

(As of an extra note, banning of "private pleasures" happens only when churches, communists and similar organizations have taken over society)

I liked the original seven deadly sins for the most part, though as per manga's law, the final arc was a mess. Ignored the sequel for the most part though I'm intrigued by who is this hated character.

Antiwar for the most part always lacks any sense of nuance. It's always "people are mean and bad and hate each other for not reason!", very "and for no reason at all...". Thing is you can't make an anti-war with a real life scenario where people are literally incompatible and where one side showing mercy is seen to the other as showing weakness. That makes the whole message fall apart.

Though not anti war as such, the only pacifist story I respect is Trigun. Because that show showed you have absurdly taxing it's for body and mind to have those ideals in Vash. And the only reason he could even uphold them was due to not even being human. You aren't a pacifist by being a pussy, that doesn't make you a pacifist, that only means you are not a threat. A pacifist is the one that can exert power to absolutely devastate you, but chooses not to, and sadly, in reality, that attitude just ends up getting you stabbed in the back.

I don't think Japan should apologize for WWII but I also think that any media they make that highlights the suffering of their own people during that war is hypocritical. The nuclear bombing and fire bombing of Japan was fully justified by their actions and the only shame is that we destroyed the Christian centers of Japan rather than Tokyo or other important cities.

I'll tell you a little secret, people care about what's close to them and give less and less of a shit the farther away you go. Of course they will show the painful parts to them in a sympathetic light. And the people writing and showing those scenes in the most visceral way are the ones that lived through the fire bombings or that saw the effect of the nukes, not the ones raping up a storm in China, so of course they won't think about "how hypocritical it is that I present this as an absolute scene of horror". This is even if they consider the Chinese anything beyond subhuman mongrels.

By your logic, 9/11 can never be discussed in a sympathetic way because they hurt the goat fuckers :(

Shit has always been constant conflict, and if you don't push your own interests, nobody will, since your enemies will have no interest in doing it for you unless it's an incredibly demoralized society like how western is.

Basically, call them hypocrites all you want, but don't expect them to capitulate to your nagging.
