It's the birthday of this character from Code Geass

https://youtube.com/watch?v=r7g1TSgzkWoI love it when weebs get their parents into anime/manga and get their raw reactions to it.
Maybe I'm just dead inside but all of the faggotry of "the most vile thing ever" just makes me sigh. I experienced the eclipse in my late teens, thought it was brutal and instantle found the manga. But it didn't give me fucking PTSD like what the faggot in the video makes it sound like. Also, grandpa seems to get too invested if you ask me.

Anyway, he is going to be very dissapointed when everybody goes off to sea, the series meanders for ages and when stuff actually happens again, Miura dies and now the series is aimless and likely never to be finished. That's the real reason I don't recommend Berserk to anyone anymore. And well, the golden age is the peak of Berserk, it just never hits that high ever again, closest I remember is the inquisition arc.

Of course I'm talking from a narrative standpoint, the art is consistently breathtaking.
I'm thinking about watching Cowboy Bebop at one point. Is it as good as everyone says?
I find it overrated. I think it's a good ride and looks fantastic, but it didn't blow my mind. Expect something for the most part episodic.

The only one of these I've watched is Mushko Tensei and aside from the school arc that was the first 2/3rds of Season 2, I actually really think its pretty great.
That's good, certainly try the others then, especially Shield Hero. First episode should hook you (especially if you go in blind), but I suggest at least getting to episode 4 if you can.

Although I have a hard time talking about it because like everyone loves to hate that show. On one hand, everyone's saying Rudy is a pedophile and anyone who watches the show is Loli trash, even though the entire purpose of the show is Rudy realizing he's a pedophile and Loli trash and literally trying to be the exact opposite of that.
I don't know, he's pretty much a terrible guy, he was trying to stop being a degenerate but then cheated on his pregnant wife, then coerced her into polygamy.

And on the other hand, you have absolute scum human beings who think Paul was a bad person.

All my niggas fucks wit Paul.
He's not absolute scum but is a bad person. He also cheated on his wife and forced her to accept a shitty situation, then later was a criminal for a while, and was a piece of shit towards his son. It's cool he risked his life to save his wife and all, but that's kinda just your responsibility.

Paul, knocks some girl up when he's 19, and marries her, has a kid with her, and then when he's older bangs his maid and knocks her up too. And everyone's like "Paul's total scum" over this, and I'm sitting here like "The dude is 23. He's not even a real adult yet. Can we not crucify him?"
Once you're 18 your excuses are gone, by 23 they've been gone for half a decade. It's not difficult to not bone your maid at 23 any more than 43.

And then when he loses his entire family due to a natural disaster and becomes an alcoholic people shit on him for that too, for not instantly recognizing that his estranged, weird son was embellishing his journey while both of Paul's wives and one of his daughters was just lost and no where to be found, presumably sold into slavery or worse.
If people shit on him for becoming a drunk, yeah, that's stupid, but a lot of the criticism is legit.

I fucking cannot stand how much people shit on Paul when he's a really well written and complex character.
I think he's well written and complex, but he's still a scumbag, some characters are bad people and that's fine. Again, he's not the worst, but him and his son kinda suck as people, not as bad as Ainz from Overlord, but similar sort of deal.

I'm thinking about watching Cowboy Bebop at one point. Is it as good as everyone says?
It's not the best like you'll hear, but it's a classic. If you watched Samurai Champloo and liked it, you'll like Bebop. If you didn't, you should watch both.

Overlord it's a great power fantasy, way better than Shadow Garden
There are way better power fantasy shows out there to watch that don't feel so transparent. Usually the decisions I make with these kinds of shows are whether or now I can feel how blatantly masturbatory they are, combined with just being boring. It's what got me to drop Shin no Nakama and No Game No Life and why I refuse to go anywhere near Mahouka.

Mushko Tensei is peak masturbatory and it's why I dropped it, specially once I went wiki diving and confirmed it was just creepy wish fulfillment dialed up to 11. Funny thing is I started reading because I wanted a series where somebody used earth magic since it's an element that always gets sidelined and saw it being recommended to only find it out never goes beyond shooting earth bullets.

Stuff like Shield Hero I enjoyed, but I rather read stuff in manga format over light novel and those chapters tend to be slow drips so it's in the "remember to read" list. Similarly I enjoyed the one about the girl that reincarnates as a spider though it did reach a point where all of the combinations of her mechanics and gimmicks felt like a bit of a constant asspull, but it was fun and I wouldn't mind finding out where I left and continuing. The reincarnated as a slime I still enjoy, I thought it would go to shit after becoming a demon lord, but going full "world building" and setting up real world commodities in the fantasy world seemed like a fun side venture. I have zero feeling of there being any stakes mind you, but as a pseudo slice of life sort of deal I find it neat.

I don't think all of Isekai is worthless shit, but it really loses a lot of appeal after the main character powers up too much and most of it is honestly just popcorn entertainment. Biggest impression I get is that the authors just don't know how to end them or don't want to end them and perpetually extend. Not an Isekai but falls under the light novel effect is Index/Railgun. I enjoyed the Railgun series, then I learn about Index, OK, it's decent enough, than you notice that there is like another 6 series AND they are all still being published and I just tapped out.

It's not even the worse thing that happens in that arc, which would be gorilla man raping to death an entire family. The reason why the Eclipse hits hard is that the entire supporting cast dies.

Watching Slam Dunk, and it seriously was seven episodes for a single game? Felt so much longer because of that pacing.

Lol goddam it, Toei.

Why can't Crunchyroll just...go away.

Let’s be honest here, if you pay for Crunchyroll you are either a teenage weeb or retarded.
The rest of us grew up pirating and continued to do so. I really can’t think of a larger subculture where piracy was just how you consumed the thing, it was pretty much the only option you had and for a lot of manga it’s the only option.

Happy birthday to Miki Itou, a VA who exclusively voices moms and Taiga Fujimura now.

Special shoutout to her role as Eva in Umineko, probably one of my favorite VA in an already packed cast of them.

I got drunk last night and subbed to Crunchy Roll so I could watch Record of Lodoss War
So what else should I watch before my sub runs out.

HARD MODE: I already own all of DBZ and Naruto on DVD
NIGHTMARE MODE: No trannyshit
IMPOSSIBLE MODE: No pedoshit

I agree with most of the criticisms of the show but something about the characters and worldbuilding keeps me invested enough to continue reading on in spite of that. It feels like there's real distinct personalities and even a bit of depth at times.

I completely lost track of what was happening or why I should care around the time they attacked the big turtle and started hopping through multiverses. It was way too much for a series that releases monthly. Maybe if I reread it the story would make more sense but I don't feel like it's worth sidelining other titles I have yet to read for the first time.

I started watching one recently called Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash. A bunch of kids get warped in to a fantasy world and have to band together to survive due to the monsters being so insanely tough that they don't stand a chance of killing one on their own. Even a single goblin takes multiple attempts with their combined strength. They're also shown to struggle with the experience of killing another sentient being. I'm only a few episodes in but it looks to have some real potential.
Biggest impression I get is that the authors just don't know how to end them or don't want to end them and perpetually extend.
This is an issue with almost all manga series. If I were in the shoes of a mangaka who was faced with this decision, I'd opt to end the series as soon as I start running out of ideas and let it rest until I either get enough good ideas for a sequel/spinoff or just have to resume due to nothing else selling.

I actually controversially like this decision because I grew up on OVAs which were closer to movies than shows and I would consider an entire OVA set to be of less time than one season of a show. Being a working person I don't like the idea of committing too much time over a long period just to get payoffs for a single season when I could get that in couple hour long ova episodes which I can watch in one sitting. Also there's a lot of shit which is just pointless filler when it comes to anime episodes, pointless filler and sidequesting works in the manga but does not work on television. With that said though, crunchyroll is a corpo and they're definitely doing this cause they're retarded and they should just go die. There I'm ready for my spankings and negrates.
