You don't even need to go this obscure. There are tons of trannies in anime shown in positive light and it's the number one source for the movement in the west.

Ironically Hollywood, that's usually blamed way more for trannyism, has always made trannies either a joke and/or a psycho but is an easier cope for (((obvious))) reasons

Yeah, pardon me for questioning that translation lmao. Even if it's 100% accurate that's still a drop in the bucket compared to putting trannies in Blue's Clues.

Real people don't wander off for 70 years and look for spells to clean blouse buttons while they sort through their feelings for a hunky guy.
Real people also don't have a lifespan in the thousands. That's sort of the question the show asks with her; what kind of effect would extreme longevity have on a mind, particularly when perpetually surrounded by people who lack it?

The character's played by Shigeru Nakahara, a.k.a. Android 17. So yes, it's a tranny that was turned into a woman in the English dub (voiced by Renamon's English voice).

Ngl sounds better as a woman.

How does the Teknoman dub compare to the original Japanese version?

Funny enough iirc Japan is more stringent when it comes to sex change, pretty sure it's illegal to do if you're raising children and it was just last year that trannies no longer had to be sterilized before anything.

It's been a loooong while since I last watched anything Teknoman because the copy I have needs discs cleaned, though I do remember enjoying the dub for what it is, but then again I'm just a sucker for Saban dubs from back in the day. Think I kinda prefer it because the pacing doesn't feel as bad as it is in Japanese when I watched a few episodes subbed, however, that's always been a me-thing.

From what I can tell, the dub combined a few episodes so it's 42 compared to the original 49. Years ago I found a forum post talking about it and they said preference is up to the viewer, he thinks both versions are good for what they are. So it's truly up to you on which one you like more.

I'm crossed on the new Ranma anime. On one hand the colouring is really off, looking very dark, but on the other it has some delightful animation

Well, it appears the Aniwavepocalypse has rid us of streamable rips of God Sigma and Albegas . . . and since I can't find Tetsujin FX on Nyaa, now's the time to enjoy that show unless you want to buy an overpriced Blu-Ray (which I will at some point in the future; Tetsujin FX is high-quality television and I want to get Discotek to license more Braves) :(
Discotek has licensed some of the Brave series? I knew they did Gaogaigar but did they do others?

Dragon Ball Daima was basically as expected. 10/10 because it's Dragon Ball, 7.5/10 objectively. It was fun to watch despite nearly half of it being a recap.
The fuck even is Daima?

These days I can't do DB media, it depresses me because it feels like even Japan is getting in on the "milk the products of a better age" bandwagon.

I have so far not even watched this. I kinda want to since Ranma 1/2 is something that matters to me, but the feel I get from clips is just "if it weren't for the famous name attached, this would just be Generic Modern Anime #879346798763."

And I do think a part of the issue is just modern anime looks too "clean" and artificial in a way the older stuff just didn't.

Also I swear the character designs are off too. Like, Rumiko Takahashi's style had a "look" to it but this, again, feels like it could be just any modern anime.

Anime as a medium should have ended in 2012.

That too. Plus when its something like this, I always assume the transitioning happened through either magic or some advanced sci-fi bullshit... or could easily just be a guy who is doing falsetto.

At least this show still draws the character in a way where its hard to tell at a glance if they're a man or a woman rather than making them hawt, and actively shows the other characters being a little weirded out by them.

I mean that perspective makes her not real people. But even if you understand "real people" to mean "internally consistent" she's really not. Out living the hell out of everyone gives you license to be intentionally aloof sure but she seems to struggle with time and human mortality even when her only significant non-elf relationship pre-hero's party was her teacher who was a human and died quickly relative an elf's lifespan of natural causes so you think she would have digested that if you want to relate to the mortal races you have to relate to them on their lifespan at some point during the thousand years she stares off into space in the woods.

It's an interquel between Z and Super. Probably the last thing DB fans were asking for, but hey, first episode was alright.

Well, that's a very logical response to Frieren's situation.

But it's not an emotional response.

Well, that's a very logical response to Frieren's situation.

But it's not an emotional response.
Frieren isn't very emotional to begin with and she had 1000 years to think about the subject, ran around with the gang for what? 5-10-15? and then needed another 70 to decide to regret her autism. She's actually unreasonably autistic by elf standards even, Serie and elf monk guy seem to have come to this conclusion a long time ago.

To be fair, aren't they much older than her?
If you want to say that Frieren is just too young to have thought of any of this and a 1500 or 2000 year old elf is experienced enough to have realized that people die when you wander off to look at a forest for 150 years then I think we agree Frieren specifically and elves in general are depicted as unreasonably retarded.

I think the ultimate problem is that the entire thing is aping LotR but Frieren Elves act more like they are Tom Bombadil and not any of the actual elves on Middle Earth. Tom Bombadil is such a weird and ephemeral existence that we can maybe excuse him for not really operating on the same wavelength as the mortals around him. Frieren elves are people but longer lived and more innately magical. They eat. They starve. They procreate. They die. They don't really have any justifiable reason to have a Bombadil-like perspective on life.

And let me be clear; I like the series. I like Frieren as a protagonist. But I think the set up for the series wears kind of thin when you think about the size of the idiot ball required to justify it.

People are theorizing whether or not the newest antagonist is working for St. Germain or not.

While it isn't completely impossible, I just want to say that the pronouns don't quite match what we saw, in Japanese. St. Germain speaks with the standard "Watashi/Anata" pronouns for a polite person even when dealing with the Fairy Tale Card, but the person behind the new antagonist is saying "Ore/Omae", a much rougher speech pattern. This doesn't mean it can't be, just that it isn't likely to be, right now.

Idk, it's unquestionably in the style of the original art, I want to say it took inspiration from Bocchi in being actually dynamic:
