Dandandan Episode 1:

Afhl_.png

I stopped watching Bleach after the bount arc. Which was so awful I actually remember the name of it. But the new series keeps popping up in my youtube feed and if nothing else Shiro Sagisu is still the goat for music.

I can't tell how godlike she actually is. She seems to be able to control crows to some extent, but I don't know if crows are capable of diving and dragging someone up from deep underwater.
Well according to her she reincarnated Aqua and Ruby and she is floating above the water.
I wonder how Aka feels about all this. Does he think it is good? Is he only writing because he has to wrap up what he has started somehow, and he never actually had a plan for how it was going to end?
I think its less that he didn't have a plan and more than he's just moved on to other things and doesn't care as much now. Kaguya's ending got killed by Oshi No Ko, Oshi No Ko's ending is gonna get killed by Renai Daiko.

Bro I thought I was on crack. I've never heard of Dandandan and now I'm about to binge the manga. Ailens and ghosts. And a guy that got his dick cursed from a evil granny demon. I'm in.

Its also a romance anime!

After reading the DanDaDan, after watching the first episode (including the episodes that were leaked), I can guarantee that Dandandan is one of the most batshit insane animes I've seen.

DanDaDan is what happens if you combine Fooly Cooly, The X files, Ghost Stories, Mob Psycho 100, and every Tokusatsu to exist, and even then, that still wouldn't be enough to describe the madness that is DanDaDan.

The series begins with two awkward teens, Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura. These two make a bet on whether aliens or ghosts are real. During the bet, the two discuss their issues, family drama, and why they believe in the supernatural.

It then spirals into them meeting every supernatural being, whether from Earth or the great cosmos. The two teens encounter ghosts and aliens, and all of them are out to capture this nerdy kid's balls to gain great power.
Yes, I'm serious, and the explanation as to why that is hilarious.

The series managed to be incredibly hilarious, yet it still knows when to be heartwarming when it needs to be and never really suffers from breaking its tone.
It also has some really action scenes that are gorgeous to look at.

Even if I describe the plot of Dandandan, the plot gets so insane, to the point that the alien invasion of Earth, which wants to take over Earth, ends up being the least insane part of it.
Even if you read the manga and think you have figured out the story formula, it still surprises you with a new crazy storyline that the author came up with.

Even the series opening from Creepy Nuts is worth listening to.

It does suffer from the "Will they, won't they" romance plot line that plagues many series, but it isn't that bad here.
This does leads to a really funny moment where one notorious ghost who kills anyone who comes in contact with her gets so sick of Momo's indecisiveness about her feelings.

This manga is pure meme magic incarnate. God bless it.

I gave the Golgo13 manga a shot. I hope that one day I too can be observed to having an "amazing penis" by glowies.

This guy was literally Japanese James bond, takao saito worked on the 007 manga and couldn't retain the rights. Its a shame it doesn't get translated more, only 100 out of 400 something chapters have been translated. I really liked the escapades in Israel where he was an Israeli informant in the six day war cause Moshe Dayan gave him a contract.

It's the only shounen which feels like a gag manga which is great. Also traditionally drawn which is always a plus. I just find it a bit weird that a zoomer girl knows who Ken takakura is and finds him hot.

more like they don't have lives and live vicariously through media

if it's a spin-off of some action thing where you see characters behave in normal settings, i can see the appeal but pure SoL is boring
Yeah, but sometimes you just want something nice and friendly as a palette cleanser between anime that tends to be full of sexuality and violence. I usually don't like slice of life if it's realistic though, it's better if it's set in a fantasy world or something.

The rezero s3 opener is 90 minutes. Oh boy. This gonna be gud.
I was really into it but completely forgot what the fuck was going on, I wish there was a recap.

Roboco isnt shounen is it? I found it too mid tbh.
Roboco IS shounen and its one of the only manga on WSJ that isn't a battle shounen that's survived for this long in this era. The volume covers are even parodies of other manga on the magazine. I really should continue reading it because I enjoyed what I read so far. Other than like Nick and Lever and some other short manga, I feel like the "gag manga" has gone the way of the dodo.

DC has been pandering to the japs for awhile now. I guess thats were the money is.
The shekelers are currently in (and have been for a while tbh) the groping tendrils phase of "zogging out" animu. Just like in the west, they get in through the entertainment and media industries.

Too bad, roboco sometimes feels like it's for literal children which is probably why I don't like it. There's a contrast between media for children which is multilayered and media for children which is just for children. Some shounen like dragon ball and yu yu hakusho feel like a renaissance Disney movie, roboco feels like Dora the explorer. I've watched Doraemon a bit, some episodes certainly are deeper than others, this is definitely not that. Also I find it hard to conceive gag manga which are serialised, it's the same problem with parody films, you generally can't write a story with them much less an epic of 300 chapters. Probably why most gag manga are flavour of the week (city hunter) or 4koma (everything else).
