The Aoki Reimu rabbit hole led to something cool: https://myanimelist.net/anime/49385/Kaijin_Kaihatsu-bu_no_Kuroitsu-san
It's a show about coming up with toku MOTWs, but this time, rather than draw a bunch of generic Kamen Riders or Rangers as you'd expect in this type of show, they used actual local heroes. In that way it reminds me of Justeen, the cancelled mecha anime that would have had knockoff plamo robots from the 80s as the enemies. And, as another example of classic toku awesomeness touching anime you'd think is the classic generic slop, Akira Kushida did the OP for some isekai anime: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQuF8WFs2JQ
That was a good show, I'm a sucker for having Evil Corp be the lead without putting a gay "heroes are the real bad guys" and that show did it quite well.

More Loid getting compromised and putting the needs of his fake (but slowly becoming real family) on par with his mission.

Honestly, I hope Yuri actually plays a bigger role going forward. Something like he follows a lead to a former Project Apple Scientist who is killed mid interrogation by a Garden agent who is unable to neutralize Yuri (no Yor killing Yuri, but Garden targeting Yor’s family behind her back). Have that be Yuri using Loid’s cover job to try to understand Project Apple due to a doctor at his office having a connection.
I have a feeling that, if they expound on the suspect organization behind Ostania and the human experimentation at all... they will be responsible for both Yor's strength and Anya's telepathy. Of course they could also do nothing with it as Spy x Family is also a comedy show, but Yor's strength literally being super human kindov needs answers. I have a feeling that the old dude from next door was very much involved with project apple at some point in the past.

I’m pretty sure Yor is just due to intense training, her terrible cooking, and love causing her to be a freak rather than anything else. The joke is that she for whatever reason is superhuman rather than experimented on like Anya.

The art was cool at least.
One thing I can't complain about is the art style. Everyone and everything looks beautiful and it's been that way from start to finish.

Hikaru's supposed to be somewhat grounded and plausible so the fact he acts like a plot device is really off putting.
My problem with him is that he feels like he belongs in a different manga. Up until the movie arc, Aka wrote believeable characters, which was one of my favourite aspects of the manga. Even minor "antagonists" like the director from the cosplay arc were actual characters, not just obstacles put there for the sake of creating conflict. With Hikaru, arguably the most important character when it comes to moving the plot forward, it's the complete opposite, all we got was a generic anime sociopath.

But they do have evidence. Not Aqua personally, since he's with Hikaru, but Akane does. Nino just tried to stab her and confessed that Hikaru has been manipulating her.

Does posting in this thread for the first time ever serve as an official confession to being a weeb? I'm still ashamed of "coming out of the anime closet" so to speak.
This is apparently scary to you because..? Japs have been little bugmen biorobots wasting their lives in offices of giant soulless corporations since at least the beginning of this century. Anime industry is ALREADY run by major conglomerates with wealthy investors, and I don't doubt that Japanese companies will try to somehow gatekeep their field from filthy gaijins in order to keep their market share.

BlackRock.

BlackRock.

And Kamala Harris, when she becomes President #47.

Back to anime itself, how has the reception been to Plus-Size Elf's anime adapation, with only 2 episodes left, since it still focuses heavily on the ecchi stuff, and less on the weight loss activities?

They do, specially if you go for the 20 minute version with last 10 minutes dedicated to chibi exercise routines. They did a change tho probably to secure a 2nd season where Erufuda's mother appears later (in the recent 10th episode) & Kuroeda became the focus of the Yoga part (which is a good thing, because she's the best girl) instead because of such change.

It really just goes to show that writing your "Main" antagonist is extremely difficult or that Aka approaches it wrong. This isn't the first time though. I remember in Love is War there's a scene where Yuu is running in track and his ex-crush is there mocking him the entire time.

I legit thought she was a hallucination or symbolism or some shit because she was fucking omnipresent in those chapters and lo' and behold she's actually just a real person in the end.

I would argue they don't even really need evidence at this point. It would probably raise enough red flags to at least get looked at if they just went "Hey, the ex-girlfriend of Ai's murderer and her best friend are making threats towards Ai's daughter. You might have on record that this best friend is also Ai's ex-boyfriend and the biological father of Ai's daughter, please help." and they probably fucking would.

In fact its arguably crazy considering the ill-thought out Ryosuke twist that they haven't already.

Hikaru could have been great. A master manipulator who's also a big name industry veteran, a man like that would normally be connected to powerful media executives and corrupt lawyers. The former would have made sure the film about Ai never saw the light of day, while the latter would have taken care of Aqua and co, suing them for defamation for having even tried to make it and outspending them in court. All this, I think, would have made Hikaru a lot scarier to deal with, and his only crimes should have been giving Ai's address to Ryosuke, then manipulating him into committing suicide to get rid of the evidence. Nino could have been cut altogether. Then Aqua and co could have fought Hikaru and his lawyers by posting about the harassment on social media, thus putting him in the spotlight. It's not like it hasn't happened before, and some investigative journalists would have started looking into the matter, they wouldn't have let such a big story slip. And ultimately they would have been able to make and release the movie, thanks to public pressure.

Yeah, and Yuri is superhumanly durable because of her terrible cooking. I'm not entirely opposed to her being more involved in this Project Apple lore, but it ought to be remembered that Spy x Family is a slice of life gag manga with unusually phenomenal writing. I think a lot of people are forgetting that after a certain backstory in the manga. Which is great, I love to see this rise above its genre like this, this sort of thing is what makes masterpieces.

The other great thing about the example you've provided here is its a good commentary on how extreme Japanese defamation laws are compared to the rest of the world. I've heard you can say something that's entirely true about a company or person publicly and that can sometimes be enough for defamation in Japan.

Which is something I really miss about Oshi No Ko lately. I started watching Season 2 of the anime and its the Tokyo Blade arc and the last two episodes have been focused on the ins and outs of putting on a play in the 2020's and all the work that goes into adapting work for the stage which is very interesting. We got like barely any of that for the movie.

I guess Yor's horrid food is what made Yuri super human (at least durability-wise).
