"Koko wa Makasete Sakini Ike!" wo shitai Shinitagari no Nozomanu Uchuu Gekokujou (MangaDex) (MAL) (Baka-Updates)
AKA Space Force the Manga!
Nao Bruce is suffering. The university student watched as his girlfriend dumped him to run off with another man, and now he has nothing to live for anymore. As he contemplates suicide, he sees an advertisement for the Space Force - a military power dedicated to protecting the planet from all sorts of extraterrestrial enemies.

An idea hatches in his head - he heard of the cliche where the hero tells his comrades "I'll take it from here. You go on without me." It's a perfect way for him to die while looking like the suave hero he always wanted to be seen as! There's only one issue: he's a little too competent to die on his own...
lol

Has Chris Chan dettered anyone here from watching Hyperdimensional Neptunia?
The anime was so boring with an ugly pastel pallete and Peashy needs to die a horrible death.

But it's been years since I last saw it and was confused that it was a console wars parody. I've been deterred from a rewatch not because of Chris-chan nor remembering the embarrassment of my dad walking in during Plutia's transformation, it's just because of life.

Gainax just has this style man, I thought this was directed 1:1 like NGE before the credits reveal, and it makes so much sense.
>moody still frames because we can't afford to animate anything more
I wish Adult Swim would have done more with The Big O iirc they had greenlight for 2 more seasons. Instead they shit on every anime and put tim and eric on. Its all so tiresome.
Their push for an ending and answers is why there weren't any more seasons. The creator intended the show to be episodic like Thunderbirds where the mysteries are just part of the setting and the plot is about cool robots, but AS forced him to make the mysteries into the plot. If AS didn't force a plot, they could have made hundreds of episodes.
It's like Mahoromatic in that way; it's pretty good for most of the series, if a little gear-spinning at times, up until the Gainax ending. The downgrade from cel animation in the first season to digital in the second also hurts it.
If they wanted Mahoromatic to be good, they would have made Mahoro a Headmaster like Fighbird and put effort into the stuff with the aliens, but instead it's an SOL ecchi with barely any focus on the alien androids. It's really no different from G-Witch.
The more aged will remember a time when the cartoon network/adult swim fought for things like a 2nd season for the Big O, and a nascar-inspired mecha anime most notable for its amon tobin soundtrack and hot michelle rodriguez tomboy waifu.
My favourite CN-original anime is DICE. It's Thunderbirds meets Star Trek meets Metal Hero. SD Gundam Force is also really good if you want to count that; it has the best SD vehicles and mecha (they have GM policemen and just tons of cool everyday vehicles) and Captain Gundam can transform into a bike! In the toyline, they had several figurines of Shu and redecoed several MSIA microships into their SD counterparts. Pretty cool; I just wish they had some SD Force plamo out nowadays.
Anything interesting in the Fall season? I feel like there wasn't anything good for Spring and Summer.
Grendizer U is actually awesome; the new redesigns are amazing (especially the Photon Lab) and there's plenty of action throughout -- two things you can't count on in new anime. I particularly like Tirona's Dizer and Spazer.

Chris liking Neptunia is one of the things that got me into anime geg

If you've ever wondered why Dangaizer has no ending, it's because the OVA was based on a hentai manga concurrently serialized with the OVA in Comic Zip written by one of Obari's colleagues, Aoki Reimu, who suddenly stopped writing the manga, stole a bunch of production materials from Obari's Studio G-1 (part of the reason Studio G-1 shut down and reemerged as Studio G-1 Neo in the 2000s, and possibly the reason Obari made all that hentai in the 2000s), and now sells scat doujins and photocopies of those stolen production materials at cons. He apparently holds the rights to the anime, not Obari, so there's zero chance of the story being finished in SRW sometime. Aoki Reimu's real name is Aoki Takeshi, who worked at AIC when it was still alive, and he also goes by Jiyuu Ougi, if you're interested in the rabbit hole:
Apparently his work on AD Police is why we haven't gotten any new AD Police stuff; he must have some of the rights to that show and he refused to let anyone make new stuff with it.

She voiced (arguably) best Umineko mom too. We're losing too many VAs man this shit sucks.
She also voiced Mikoto Misaka's mother in A Certain Scientific Railgun, Fittingly, Mikoto Misaka has electrical powers similar to Sailor Jupiter, I wonder if that's why Emi Shinohara was chosen to voice her mother?

RIP

The Aoki Reimu rabbit hole led to something cool: https://myanimelist.net/anime/49385/Kaijin_Kaihatsu-bu_no_Kuroitsu-san
It's a show about coming up with toku MOTWs, but this time, rather than draw a bunch of generic Kamen Riders or Rangers as you'd expect in this type of show, they used actual local heroes. In that way it reminds me of Justeen, the cancelled mecha anime that would have had knockoff plamo robots from the 80s as the enemies. And, as another example of classic toku awesomeness touching anime you'd think is the classic generic slop, Akira Kushida did the OP for some isekai anime: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQuF8WFs2JQ

She even voiced Mikoto’s mom, too?

Damn, now you’re making me remember why Kuroko loved her:

She even jokingly at one point in the anime stated that she was Mikoto’s sister, just so she could get with her.

@Skyline Read the new chapter yet?
Yes. Not even Naruto battles had this much eye hax. Otherwise the chapter felt very short, but now I guess I can't complain about Hikaru's character being inconsistent anymore, just a bit too edgy. With this many bait and switches I couldn't predict what was going to happen next. The predictable outcome would be Aqua sparing Hikaru because of Ruby's song. The Aka tier twist, of course, would be Hikaru grabbing the knife but sparing Aqua because of Ruby's song (which I assume was initially Ai's).

The art was cool at least.

I feel like if you're getting close to the close of a series and you can't predict what a character is going to do, its probably not a good sign. I mean I guess you could argue like The Joker or something is unpredictable, but that's like his thing. Hikaru's supposed to be somewhat grounded and plausible so the fact he acts like a plot device is really off putting.

Speaking of I made the mistake of interacting with Reddit Fags today about this chapter and someone tried telling me you can't just call the cops on someone you suspect to be involved in murder without evidence.

I guess they don't know that's literally a thing you can do and how a lot of swattings are done. Plus Japan's a safe country for the most part, so its not like the police have a lot to do other than look into a potential killer. Its probably a nice break from investigating stolen bikes and umbrellas.
