Funny enough, Wing was my first exposure to Gundam mainly because people called out the edgy main character and the garbage relationship he had with the main female lead. Then people trashed SEED for its writing too.

Apparently there exists not a single Gundam without a romantic subplot. Oh well!

I've seen people gush over Iron-Blooded Orphans but I heard it had poly shit and I ain't touching that.

Also the title alone is off-putting

I mean, it depends on what level they are? ZZ occasionally had characters who probably had crushes on others but it doesn't have a 'love story' the way they did in Witch from Mercury, it's more appealing to the tragedy of people killing each other even though they shouldn't. If that bothers you then sure, but it's not the same as how Witch from Mercury put so much weight on a really crappy relationship between a loveless bitch and her dumb simp.

That one also depends on your tolerance. There's a love triangle between the protagonist, his childhood friend, and the rich activist who's paying the protagonist's crew to take her to Earth, but they never actually go 'we're a loving three-way relationship happily ever after' the way I think you're assuming. The relationship is also somewhat desperate from the girls' parts because the guy is a fucking autist who'll do whatever it takes, even killing himself, if it means getting out of the shithole they're stuck in.

Then there's the Mafia guy with a harem of women who are there in part because life in space fucking sucks, but he's a secondary character and the harem part felt a lot more like 'shock factor' than your typical fantasy. "Oh look, if you're a rich criminal you get to do whatever you want, like have a harem of women!" used to convince a bunch of dumb teenagers to join the Mafia feels like a better use than usual [especially since none of them actually get that].

IBO's probably on the upper range of Gundam shows but not the best, but I don't think these points are bad when the focus is on how horrible life is in space and the desperate measures people take to do it.

In the Long term, guaranteed. I covered it earlier but, these obvious wealth transfers allow/have been allowing (((western media))) monopolies to buy out even more Jap companies, meaning the terminal D.I.E./Netfux infection will spread...

I think you misunderstood my post as a critique. I was mainly making an observation.

Regarding IBO, it was apparently suggested that it happened after the show? I just skimmed summaries as to not spoil myself and remember people pointing it out.

Anyway, the way you describe makes the characters sound kinda odd so I'll stick to the other suggestions first and maybe give IBO a chance afterward.

Production order. Start with the 1979 show (or read the Origin if you prefer manga -- don't watch the Origin OVA or the 1979 compilation movies), and then watch the other main UC shows: Zeta, ZZ, Char's Counterattack, F91, Victory, and Hathaway's Flash. If you want more UC content, there's the Crossbone manga series, the Gaia Gear novels, the Advance of Zeta and Gundam Sentinel novels, the Awakening/Escalation/Confrontation novels, and the Hathaway's Flash novels. The OVAs like 0080, 08th MS Team, 0083, Origin, IGLOO, and Unicorn are optional -- IGLOO is my favourite of these. There are also several AUs -- X, Turn A, and 00 are the most well-liked AUs, but SEED Destiny, CE 73 Stargazer, and G-Reco are my favourite AU shows. On top of that there's the Build series (Gunpla tournament show), the SD Gundam shows, and Keroro Gunsou; I particularly like the SD Gundam shows (especially SD Gundam Force, Brave Battle Warriors, and World Heroes), and if you want to get into Keroro, watch the anime -- the manga has obscene amounts of fanservice and less Gundam/mecha stuff.

I disagree; IBO takes 50 episodes to do what could have been done in 12, and it has no cool mecha or battles. It's one of the worse AU shows.

But in all seriousness, it just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Horikoshi rushed it. The movie is also going to be a disappointment. Other plot holes haven't been addressed. He did promise that Izuku's dad was gonna show, and I have a feeling with the analogies to Star Wars, the villain of the film Dark Might is Hisashi.

It suffers from Mari Okada's writing. The first season is fine, but it falters in the second. The shoehorned gay subplot gets killed off once the anime focuses on it.

Hori had every chance in the world to make All For One into Deku's dad. He didn't take it there, so he'll never take it anywhere.
Shame, since there was some good irony to be mined from that twist.

I wonder what's keeping him from pulling off something like that. Or at least just fucking SHOW Hisashi. His editor?
 
Has anybody read tsugumomo? From the few screens I've seen it looks like a wholesome ecchi. Is it any good and is there anything like it?
 
I saw the anime back when it aired. While it's definitely an ecchi and pushed some envelopes, I liked it for what it was, I just dunno if I could say it was wholesome.
