We really didn't get much of Naruto seemingly WANTING Hinata though, so it felt forced. Hinata has the track record of always crushing on him so it genuinely works for her, but except for that rushed movie to try and build a relationship between the two I never got the feeling Naruto gave much of a shit about her, Naruto was consistently after Sakura. Don't get me wrong, I was one of the kids who was shipping Naruhina from the start, but that was because Hinata was so clearly dedicated to it and frankly deserved it after almost dying for him. It really surprised me when she actually got what she wanted.
Didn't she sacrifice herself to save him from Pain? Also few of the filler did hint at the relationship, at least in the pre timeskip series.
I forgot how many Narutards are in this thread.
If you are a non-boomer male and watched anime 20 years ago you liked Naruto.

liked Naruto
The very early parts. I started falling out of it after the Sasuke Retrieval Arc. Later afterwards, right as Shippuden started, I realized how dumb (not in a good way) it really was from reading snippets of the plot and the wiki, and realized how even more retarded it got.

I guess it had something to do with Kishimoto still not fucking up his writing when he started, but that was only because of his first editor, who was the actual genius behind it all. Samurai 8 proves that Kishimoto can't write a cohesive story to save his life (thus, why it was cancelled). "Legendary Manga Creator" in the synopsis was laughable.

Did I like Naruto? I was a kid, it was a story about ninjas, what's not to like. The issue is that when I started to read other books and comics that arguably had better writing (like One Piece) when I was just thirteen, that was when Naruto became this dumb, inconsistent mess. So no, no amount of denial from you, "arguments", or "gotchas" :story: is gonna change my stance on just how much of a hack Naruto as a story is. You like it? Cool. I feel sorry for you, but I suppose that comes down to individual taste.

what the hell even is this post
"yeah, sure, i liked it but then I started reading snippets from the wiki and my supreme 13-year old mind could see how it was a retarded mess"
"ackshully, it was his editor"
one piece, with the same repeated plot structure in almost every major arc going on for over a thousand chapters at this point, with good writing?
"arguments" and "gotchas"

No one can deny Naruto has a harsh decline at a certain point in Shippuden. None of us are. We're just saying the ending is better than the dogshit we're getting now, and good fucking lord did Naruto already age better than most of the replacement "big 3"s. If that seems ridiculous or like fanboy behavior, you haven't been paying attention. Attack on Titan's ending was Game of Thrones level of horrid. Demon Slayer rushes to its end with clumsy haste and then flashes forward to a wack ass modern day reincarnation everyone is happy scenario. MHA promptly reaches it's height not even halfway through its story before plummeting into what we got. In a month or three, we'll get the conclusion of JJK after an entire year of the most boring and overhyped "fight" I've ever seen, which really doesn't matter because it's already that much of a trashfire of a story.
It all feels a bit forced but, understandable in terms of what he was trying to achieve. At best it's a filler chapter to buy Gege time to decide what Yuji's Domain actually does and at worst it's reminiscent of Naruto extending a hand to Obito after he'd murdered countless people including his own parents. What am I missing here?

Is it because Gege never actually writes any worthwhile character interactions that the first one he writes since Shibuya looks like Shakespeare to readers?

Or is it because he finally produced a not shit chapter after over a year of frustrating breaks, pointless filler chapters, lazy ass pulls and repetitive cliffhangers? Is it a "one dry cracker tastes like a gourmet meal to a man who hasn't eaten in 2 weeks" situation?
gege has fushigoro's deadbeat resurrected father meet him and then proceeds to absolutely nothing with it
I have no idea why people are incapable of seeing Gege's inability to write. What is Yuji's actually relationship to the people around him? He has none. Quite literally, he met these people a few months ago, and he hasn't so much as learned what any likes to eat or even do when not being an exorcist sorcerer whatever. The entire plot of the story is things happening more because the author wants them to than the characters making decisions in line with who they are. Sukuna's binding vow with Yuji not applying to him was probably the biggest asspull in the entire fucking series for how much it leads into, doesn't matter if he set it up from the beginning. It makes no damn sense since "Not allowed to hurt anyone" can't be any clearer.

Bro, do you honestly believe that I actually like these over Naruto? Gege has been trolling his fans for the entirety of two arcs, and the way animetubers keep sucking his dick don't help. AOT! LOL!

Demon Slayer turned out to be the definition of mid.

I haven't read One Piece in a long ass time since for as long as its ran, the story has just dragged on now. The "mystery" of the D or whatever Oda calls it has overstayed its welcome.

Oda's secret intended message to his critics:

I'm reading a poorly translated manga, and I have to ask: did the whole trap/femboy thing started because of shit translators?
Did they mistranslate an introduction or something? Like, did a guy say they're a girl or vice versa upon meeting someone? 私は is the supposed feminine way and the gender neutral formal way a person introduces themselves by name or says something in relation to themselves. 僕は and 俺は are the masculine and informal ways for context of how that could have happened

they repeatedly use female pronouns to refer to the male villian and male pronouns for the woman. Every chapter up to this one used to right pronouns, just like other manga where most chapters are fine and then a few guess wrong.

Why are you guys talking like Naruto ended? It just got renamed to Boruto and was only temporarily written by another person.
Though they can't make a compelling villain to save their lives and Zeon has to be the most overrated "bad guy" faction in all of fiction.
That's because they're doing it wrong, True Zeon has never been tried. Build me a space colony to crash into innocent bystanders and I'll show you how it's really done.

So, yeah, the ending to My Hero Academia is pretty shit, but to put into context how terrible this ending is, we're going to have to explain a lot.

To start with, what was this show about?
A young boy who dreams of becoming a hero lacks powers or, in show terms, "quirks" to qualify for hero work.
It's only until he meets his favorite Hero, All-Might, and through an act of reckless bravery, All-Might trains to be his successor.
The 2nd episode even ends with Deku stating, "This the story of how became the world's greatest hero."

When people first heard this, they said, "Oh wow, he's going to train to become a hero like All-Might. That will be so cool to watch." It created this expectation that he would grow up to be a fantastic hero on par with Superman, and at first, that seems to be the case.
He trained to prepare himself but still struggled to control the powers of One-For-All, but he learned to control its insane strength over time.
He didn't win all his fights but inspired people around him.
It seems to be on the right path, but as the series went on, the story just became a mess.

It got even worse in the final battle with Shigaraki (who, in reality, was nothing more but All-For-One new skin suit, but that's another story for another time). Deku lost All-For-One permanently.
For 8 years, he spent all his life as a school teacher.
All the while, all his classmates were living more successful lives than him and hardly bothered to spend time with him.
He's not even married to any of his previous female classmates.
But don't worry. Through the power of nepotism, he gets a power suit and can join his friends in doing hero work.

This ending is insulting because it wastes the audience's time.
All that hardship and broken bones Deku suffered to control One-For-All was for nothing.

Even if you compare it to when All-Might finally lost his powers during his big fight with All-For-One due to a severe injury, and it only got worse the more he used his quirk when he finally beat All-For-One, he at least did it when putting away dangerous villain and least guaranteed a successor.
Only for said successor to lose all his powers in his final battle with All-For-One.

And you know what? I wouldn't even be bothered with Deku losing his powers if he at least attempted to be a hero without them.
You could even have him go through a whole journey, realizing you don't need a quirk to be a hero.
There are other ways to achieve this.
Hell, the story could given Deku a power suit early on in the story, and while its strength was nowhere near as strong as One-For-All, Deku would make up for it using his smarts.
This could even inspire people without quirks that they can become heroes.
Deku could have basically become Syndrome but good.

He doesn't even need to be one to make the suit. He could meet up with students working hard to find alternatives for ordinary citizens to protect themselves even without quirks.

But nope, he gotta wait 8 years for that suit.
Didn't even bother to ask for one or study to find ways to be a hero without powers.
No, he sits on his ass doing nothing.

It's insulting for the reader to spend so much time reading chapter after chapter to see the protagonist become a wage slave.

no one cares about boruto, not even kishi
that's why someone extremely inferior is doing the artwork
He came back to write it and he didn't draw Samurai 8 either, I'm not sure he even can draw entire series anymore. There were rumors as far back as the war arc about how Kishi has his assistants do most of the work for him for health reasons.

expectation subverted!
yet somehow still fitting in a nihilistic kinda way.

but I think part of it is the usual victim of it's own success. it's no secret most writers don't have the ending planned, or it's even on the horizon when they strike it big. then they don't want to sacrifice their cash cow/get pushed by publishers to keep it running way past it's expiration date.
it's one of the reasons I ultimately stopped reading series that are still running, especially the longer they run. it's not like I want or expect much, just that they stick the landing, otherwise it's like you said just a gigantic waste of time. it also makes me respect authors that stick to their principles and end it when it should, money and fame be damned (biggest irony being that if they destroy their fame with a shit ending, it will inevitably reflect their new work)

The initial arcs were just really cool. Especially with how limited bullshit-justu were. Casting a simple fucking fireball was like a big deal, like how Tolkien did magic spells, sparingly. That way when they did come up it had a lot more impact, which also meant that hand-to-hand combat was more important. I would trade all the bullshit jutsu and bloodline techniques for just a few impactful elemental attacks and a fuck ton more fist fighting.

She ALMOST did, but I'm pretty sure Tsunade's weird slug things basically saved her on death's door. I don't remember any of those filler. If it's Naruto saying "I like people like you" to her that still ain't really doing it for me. He takes a long time to stop simping after Sakura and actually think about liking Hinata "in that way".
Dude won in the end though (unlike Deku).

I really like the "my deer friend nokotan" anime. Its so self aware, 4th wall breaking, and commits to the comedic bits so you can't help but laugh. The OP is catchy too. Don't know why they are pulling this "after the 4th episode, they will only be available for 1 week" thing on their official YT channel.
