Well, they didn't shoot him but the blonde chick was theorizing that they'd use him as a lab rat or some such, so it's not necessarily a mercy in itself. And sure he was lying but basic logic should cover the reasons, and again, there's zero chance he's an enemy after saving them all from a literal nuke.

I get the whole "going by the book" thing, but if your childhood friend saves everyone your response is to point a gun at him? It just reeks of Attack on Titan's messy ending, except early in the series.

As of the latest episode they do still believe in him, but their hands are tied as Kaijus are a very serious thing and he is a named Kaiju that's incredibly powerful. The big boss did push him to his breaking point which proved their concerns right, even though he snapped out of it at the last second.

We still don't have an explanation of why that thing infected him and turned him into a Kaiju. Considering the thing told him to kill the boss when it took over, it's likely that it's an infiltration type, that uses the guy to gain people's trust and learn about internal procedures, then when it gets the information it needs it takes over and starts killing.

Huh, sounds like for once it was actually justified in an anime then, I'm legitimately surprised. I haven't seen the latest episode so I guess I spoke too soon.

I'll say this, having read the manga: you are going to love the S1 finalie. Especially with the top notch animation IG has been putting in. The adaption has exceeded all expectations.
 
Okay yeah Urusei Yatsura is over. Shame, I thought it would be the usual 100 volume franchise but it's relatively tame. At least they pretty much paired everyone by the end.

No expense has been spared for Kaiju no 8. It's had multiple high profile songs, including in episode 10:
That's the shit that costs money, on top of the grade A animation and voice acting, both sub and dub. But that's what you get from the top ranked on Shonen Jump +, literally carrying the entire official digital manga market on its back.

I don't honestly think this looks that good, it's kind of goofy, in all honesty. The latest episode of Mushoten, by comparison, is outrageously high quality and there's barely even any action in it. It's all just extremely well drawn and the plot-pacing is great to boot.

They even added flashbacks to events which happened in Season 1 that weren't even shown in that season. I'll say that again so it really sticks; they hand animated /completely original segments/ which would have taken place in Season 1 cour 1 and matched the quality shot-for-shot to a point where if you put an episode from S1 side-by-side with this S2 episode you would not be able to tell the difference. It's staggering just how much budget and effort was put into this week's episode.

This is addressed later on, at least assuming they adapt it. I assume they will.

What in the Fuck, Takumi... My respect for this pair has drastically decreased over the course of just one movie. I thought the entire multi-season affair was gonna be one big misunderstanding with the Mercedes guy. Like he would turn out to be Mogi's step dad or something and Takumi would actually be the one in the wrong for assuming the worst about his girlfriend, but no! Mogi is actually just a huge slut. Takumi (who dropped Mogi like a hot potato the second he discovered she was cheating -> as he should) literally takes her back after these revelations. Is this what they call a simp?
 
I don't remember, did Mogi give at least an attempt at a sob story for why she turned to teenage prostitution? Kinda seemed like they wanted to make some kind of social commentary on that.

Studio better be watching the EN localizers like hawks then because there is zero chance they will not be leaping over each other to fuck with this and fix all those pesky errors in the Japanese script.

They'd need to really outright change the text to make it work. It's not just throwing he/she:
  • Ranma always remains straight.
  • Ranma outright says the female form is weaker.
  • The change to female is instant rather than pulling a masquarade.
It's pretty much based on the idea that you remain your biological gender (except maybe one arc where a villain gaslights him).

That's what surprised me when I saw the latter. I felt like there was still a ton of character interaction possible. Meanwhile Ranma's cast is far smaller and it gets repetitive.
