Been on a SHAFT kick lately, mainly watching their earlier SoL/Comedy stuff. I watched (S1) Hidamari Sketch for the time, am re-watching Pani Poni, and will probably start Zetsubou-sensei before long. I bring this up because the other day I came across this post on twitter, sharing some concerning posts made by a current animator at SHAFT:

Seems the studio has fallen pretty damn far since the early 10's.
Not surprising. Seems like a lot of Japanese companies that got hyped too fast had been invaded by psychos that turn it into a black company, like the creators of the Trails series.

So it's like what happened to Blizzard post-WoW an infinity times over out in Japan... And this happened to Falcom? I never heard about this, tell me more (though this is maybe off-topic, since they're a game developer).

After months I finally decided to watch some anime, picked up Gunparade orchestra and went in blind, finished the first episode and it is quite a refreshing sensation of not knowing anything and get throw into an unknown world.

The mecha looked cool, the monster too and the school/academy vibe with lots of different kids too, reminded me a bit of Infinite Ryvius.

Watched 3 episodes and I liked, the name was GunParade Orchestra and not march, dunno if it is a sequel and there is another anime with 12 episodes that may be related to it
March came first.

There are plenty of good men in this world that’ve had affairs and repented. The same can be said of men who have to tolerate how ludicrously infuriating women are and have only unintentionally raised their hand to a woman once within the span of several decades. As for the abortion, I dunno man, was she fucking chained to the wall? Did he bring the doctor in and make him do it? Did he put a katana to her head and walk her precariously down the steps to the hospital? It sounds like someone yelled at her to get one and she did it. My wife yells at me a lot, it doesn’t mean I have to do what the fuck she wants.

I dunno, we don’t know the whole situation but it sounds like some retarded telenovela jap shit.
See women are literal children with zero will the minute a man is involved, its impossible to expect them to take any responsibility for what happens to them because clearly their own actions couldnt' have caused anything negative to happen, and this is why we need women leaders. Also abortion is an important human right but only when a man doesn't agree.
Hth.

Dude's 70 boning a woman in her 30s. You may not like it, but if she wasn't into it its not like she didn't have options.

Watch Eto Ranger. It's Super Why if it had an actual story, all animal heroes, and substituted the educational segments for jokes. They choose the heroes for each mission with a slot machine and fix everything with a robot Pegasus. It's Shaft's best anime without a doubt. I really wish there were more cute hero anime -- we just have Eto Ranger, Samurai Pizza Cats, Uchuusen Sagittarius, Hikarian, and arguably GaoGaiGar and Daigunder. Thankfully there are quite a few toku shows like that, such as Robocon and Robotack/Kabutack.

What is narou or narou-kei? I've heard it thrown around, is it some isekai subgenre?
It means "work whose source material originated on Shousetsuka ni Narou", which is the Japanese version of Fanfiction dot Net or AO3. It's basically all JRPG fanfiction without being explicitly branded as franchise fanfiction, with the vast majority of fics basing themselves off the Dragon Quest franchise.
I use it to brand anything that reminds me of Sword Art Online. I've used it to describe Xenoblade 2 and Frieren. I'd use it to describe Kiseki, but it feels simpler to describe it as "Blueballs: The Franchise".

My buddy and I enjoy watching anime we see as "stupid fun" (think Baki) and riffing it or just being taken aback by how over the top silly it can be. Well, while looking we found this nifty little series called "Drifters". Now that was fucking fun, I wish the author didn't produce his shit at the pace of a paraplegic snail doing a marathon in the Antarctica because I need fucking more of it. Someone needs to lock Kurata in a basement and lace all his food with speed till he finishes it.
I haven't seen/read Drifters, but I was massively into Hellsing, Hirano's first ongoing series. He actually started his career with some particularly egregious hentai doujins, which featured multiple proto Hellsing characters. It is interesting that one of the female leads ended up in men's suits and never showed skin below the neck, while the other female lead was barely changed from his hentai doujins. He's an odd man, that Hirano.

The Hellsing manga has recently been reprinted in deluxe volumes. I'm not too fond of those translations, but my Chuang Yi volumes are falling to pieces so at some point I'm going to have to bite the bullet and replace them.

You know, Jujutsu Kaisen really doesn't have much in the way of worldbuilding. I get that a lot of power systems go out of control, but the franchise (if we can even call it that), seems to be suffering from it in reverse. What I'm talking about is that there aren't other spells besides barriers or even Shikigami. Like they don't add in any more.

working in anime is borderline slavemarket anyway

some for the "slapping around", raising a hand isn't using her as a punching bag, and without context it's questionable to begin with.
I've seen arguments when the woman gets violent "it's ok" because she apparently can't hurt the guy or something, but if he then returns the favor he's considered a violent psychopath (and that's before you get into any psychological fuckery). heck even during an argument in the heat of the moment is usually considered a different context.

Steampunk best girl, holy shit how I love Sheryl Nome

I'm amazed that Hirano projects like Hellsing Ultimate and Drifters have such high production values, because they are the farthest thing from megahits in Japan, and are both fairly niche manga. And yet, in spite of that, the animation is amazing, the character designs are detailed and uncompromised, and the soundtrack for both series was recorded by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra.

I don't know who Hirano blackmailed to get those projects to be treated so lavishly, but thank God for it regardless. To say nothing of the English dub, which in Hellsing Ultimate's case has some of the best localization and dubbing I've ever seen for an anime, period.

I don't think those were Hirano shows. And the Warsaw Philharmonic will do music for anything -- they did the music for Legend of the Blue Wolves under the alias "Phoenix Symphony Orchestra", and I have to say, it's not bad.

Maybe I should qualify what that means. They're works based on manga by Kouta Hirano---which, like I said, really don't seem to command the popularity in Japan to merit budgets or resources as the ones afforded to Hellsing Ultimate or Drifters. Unless there's something about the format or genre trappings of each respective manga that made it justifiable to greenlight with such high production values.

Looking at their credits, you're right. I'm genuinely shocked how much anime the Warsaw Philharmonic has scored for. Escaflowne, Aquarion, even the Oh My Goddess! Movie...it's kind of crazy.
